Great app, but lacking some crucial features, such as the option to pause the program to account for sickness and injury, or the option to abandon a workout and start over.

Potentially dangerous for ultra training

I signed up to Runna specifically because they advertise themselves as suitable for all distances, including 100km plans. Unfortunately, my experience has shown that this claim is misleading at best, and potentially dangerous at worst.
The 100km plan structure is deeply flawed. Most weeks consist of a couple of very short runs midweek, followed by one huge “expedition” run at the weekend. This kind of load distribution is not appropriate for ultra training and significantly increases injury risk. There’s insufficient cumulative volume, poor fatigue management, and no sensible progression for the demands of a 100km race.
When I raised these concerns, the feedback was essentially brushed off with “we’re planning to improve this in the future.” That doesn’t help athletes who are paying now and trusting the plan now with their health and training.
I was also explicitly told that Runna would help me amend the plan to make it safer and more appropriate. That support never actually materialised. The plan remained unchanged, and I was left to either follow something I didn’t believe was safe or abandon it altogether.
To make matters worse, I paid for a full year upfront, based on their marketing that they support ultra distances. When it became clear that they don’t adequately support this level of training, Runna would not pause the plan, adjust my subscription, or refund the difference. I’ve effectively been penalised for trusting their advertising.
Runna may work well for shorter distances, but in its current state it is not suitable for serious ultra runners, and certainly not for 100km preparation. Until their ultra plans are properly rebuilt, and their customer support becomes more accountable, I can’t recommend it to anyone training beyond standard marathon distances.

There is a bug in the app…

There is a bug in the app making it unusable. I understand this may be affecting many different people but as a paid subscriber I do wish I had another avenue to see my required workout for the day.

Great app for beginners like myself…

Great app for beginners like myself going from not having run in over 7 years to pacing for my first 10K within the first 15 weeks of starting with Runna (from scratch). Love it and will continue for as long as possible. Works great with Apple Watch, making it much easier to use without needing to hold your phone

Work outs good for structure, app rubbish for 2026

The workouts overall are pretty good. However , the app is not up to standard. There is no way of inputting that you did cross training, so the triathlon feature is redundant as it wont count your cycles or swim into the plan. If you are ill, there is no way of tracking this, apart from apparently there's a new feature of -'not feeling hundred percent', which is impossible to find! Customer service is okay, but every time you speak to them, they say they're working on it and it's months later , and nothing changes.

ABSOLUTELY 10 OUT OF 10 5️⃣⭐️✅🤙🏾 App Support & Customer Support is NEXT LEVEL - Fully Recommend Paying For Subscription If You Do Running 🏃🏽‍♀️ (Best Customer Service I’ve Ever Had) !!!

I had a bit of an “issue” where I kept thinking I had to press the “Start New Plan” button every time I wanted to add an activity like Strength. The actual button to add the activity didn’t stand out at all to me, so I didn’t even realise it was a button. I kept going in loops, accidentally starting new plans, and never getting to add the activity I wanted, as I would start a new plan without it again

They told me I was meant to press on the activity itself, so I did… But then it just kept taking me back to the same page, which wasn’t clear to me. So I kept starting loads of new plans by mistake and never actually adding the activities I wanted 😂🤦🏽‍♀️

When they explained the correct way to do it, I left feedback explaining what was happening and how it could be clearer… and literally straight away I got a message saying the tech team had made the change in the newest update! Huge thanks to Evie, Lottie, Cesca, and Anthony - I probably messaged you all loads about this, when it was actually quite simple once I understood which buttons were buttons 🤣 So sorry for that, but thank you so much for sorting it so quickly! I was honestly like WOWWWWWWW - no way they 1) actually made the change, and 2) SO QUICKLY !!!

Usually when you give feedback to apps or companies it’s ignored or takes years for anything to change, even if lots of people report it. But it was literally just me, yet they still did it!

When I tried it again, the activity buttons now stand out clearly, so you can add them, and it doesn’t prompt me to start a new plan after adding it. So much easier now !

This was the best customer service I’ve ever had. I feel like whenever someone asks “when was the best customer service you ever had?” I’ll always use this example forever 🤣🤙🏽 I literally recommend Runna to everyone I know, telling them about the app and how amazing the chat support is whenever I have a question. If you’re doing running, it’s definitely worth paying the subscription fee 100% 👏🏽 They even give you VIP priority the week before your race and reply pretty instantly with advice if you need it - even when when I’ve been ill before a race and wanted advice. I’ve even asked random things like what yoga mat to buy, and they always help with any questions or problems ! Very impressed !!!

Runna handles planning so I focus on my running

Runna created a running plan after answering just a few questions, integrated the plan with my Garmin forerunner and has my plan ready to go each day. Can’t get much easier than that and the plan generated was logically built and easy to manage. I focus now almost exclusively on execution not planning.

Not what it used to be

When I subscribed in 2023, things worked great. So when I subscribed again this year to train for another marathon, I was seriously let down. With a Fitbit and a Pixel 10 Pro, Runna fails to sync any of my workouts. It also fails to unlink my Fitbit account so I can try to troubleshoot the problem. It also is extremely tedious to add a manual workout. AND the shoe life tracker fails to update if you complete a workout manually. Honestly, you're better off using a free spreadsheet.

Oh and I haven't received a response from support in over three weeks, despite weekly requests for an update and refund.

Looks good but comes at a price

I'm a experienced runner already. I did look at the app which looked very well structured and laid out. However the cost put me off. You can go to a local club and get really good training advice and run with others. I like to run without being plugged in so I can experience the environment around me. This is my escape. Are we not plugged in enough.

Fails to record runs, including when you need it most

Ran my first half marathon and the app failed to record my run. I experienced the same issue multiple times previously and reported it to Runna, only for no resolution. Months of training, and the app couldn’t perform its basic function and the sole purpose for me using it. Completely unacceptable.

Poor system & customer support

Firstly I used the free trial week, I didn’t join & cancelled. I then got a discount offered to join for the year, which I tried to pay & it wouldn’t let me. I ended up paying full price £99 as I was already starting my GNR training for the first time. I messaged Runna & after many msg’s they said they could not credit me as I had already paid & offered me extra 3 months after the year free. I refused as only wanted the app for the year.
So I continued my training with the full price app. I then was on the GNR start line when I clicked on Runna to start my race &’it asked for me to update the app, which couldn’t be done as the race was starting. I had to quickly switch to Strava to at least let me know my pace being a very new runner.
I then informed Runna & they apologised but said they could not credit me as I paid through apple & it was not on their control.
I am very dissatisfied with the out come as I have wasted £99 on Runna, with no help or refund offered. Very poor set up & customer service.

Solved : Strava + Runna bundle not recognized

I subscribed to the Strava + Runna bundle (via Apple, 09/09/2025, France). Payment was immediate, yet the app still doesn’t recognize my Premium access.

Despite following all the recommended steps (updating apps, reconnecting, activation link, even recreating the account), Runna remains stuck in free mode.

Very disappointing not to be able to use the app as promised, especially when the process is advertised as simple and seamless.

Edit : issue was solved later in the day. Modified accordingly
