i Have just moved in to my brand new…
i Have just moved in to my brand new property and was quoted £400 for quite a large loft area to be boarded with a light and ladder. where do i start but im not happy with the work.
1. The boards are not raised with 2x4 so its possible we may get damp in the future. he just put them on the beams. in doing this he crushed my extractor pipe and pushed down the spot lights in the en suite bathroom. i had to rip up the boards over the top of these and cut holes to avoid this happening.
2. The ladder. was screwed into a thin bent piece of wood which was too low so the ladder rested on the hatch causing it to fall down. some screws were in at an angle or half in i had to take the ladder off, remove the piece of wood and use a piece of 2x4 to raise it up enough so it didnt touch the hatch.
3. customer service. i called and text to ask him to come back and rectify the mistakes and there was no answer at all hence me doing work myself. it may end up i have to rip the whole thing up if i get damp anyway.
Summary: DO NOT USE THIS COWBOY. HE DOESNT DESERVE TO RUN A BUSINESS WHEN HE CONDUCTS HIMSELF THIS WAY. poor workmanship. if i fell short like this in my job i would be sacked
