Used to be great!

Used to be great!
Now, rides are very problematic. Delays getting a ride to start with (change of drivers, other “your driver is delayed...”
changing route while on the ride (highway ride not on highway), drivers don’t speak English. Any English. Cars not clean, bad music and a couple of really rude drivers.

My last experience was horrible which…

My last experience was horrible which is a combination of effects. One the GPS, was heading in the wrong direction. I informed the driver who like most of Via drivers only know how to navigate by way of GPS. All have limited map knowledge and nagivational experience of their surroundings. He refused to change direction because he said the system would block him if he deviated route. He put computer protocol before costumer satisfaction. Way I see it he deviated from humanity for self preservation to satisfy his superiors. Wouldn't do me the courteousy of checking with Via to see if it was ok to re route. I walked the next few blocks. He also had very poor communicational skills in English, the language barrier was doomed from the start for both parties.
Thank You,
Malekh Salters

Sometimes quick, sometimes leaves you frustrated.

Sometimes quick, affordable and efficient, other times frustrating and a complete waste of time. Daily route may be a great time saver and travel may be in comfort, other times same route can have huge snags in driver timing and competency or even be canceled. The most frustrating aspect of this ride service? They ALWAYS pick you up on the left. The primary vehicle, a Mercedes Metris, has the access for the third row on the right side, often creating awkward situations for passengers and making the drop offs and pick ups more time consuming and unsafe for people shuffling around the vehicle and into oncoming traffic.

I used to love Via but it has seriously declined

I used to love Via. Drivers were professional, cars clean. The passengers abided by the rules of no talking.
I have had a series of terrible experiences with drivers not understanding the app, taking me to the wrong place, marking a trip complete when I got in the car. In the past, you could talk to the driver but many now really cant communicate with you, so you can be on a ride wandering around Manhattan. The drivers let the passengers talk on their phone which is really upsetting. The cars are often not clean, not all but there seem to be no standards. I have switched to uber pool which can be a dollar or two more but a lot better service.

Most of the time I get a terrific pick up, ride, and drop off. About 1 out of 4-5 rides my pick-up is not on the corner where it's indicated on my phone. I have walking difficulties so it can take me a while to find and get to (get a green light, walk to) the place the driver is waiting. Plus, a couple of times the drivers have not answered their phones.

Very affordable and the cars are…

Very affordable and the cars are usually nice, and clean and big enough to accommodate enough people comfortably. The most I do like about them is that they pick up people along your same route that your destination is. I don't like when they pick you up too far off from the pick up spot.

Language barriers are not a joke!

Hi.
Most of the time I really enjoy and appreciate my rides with VIA.
But once on a while, I get drivers that do not speak ANY English! Do not understand a word either. Even words like "turn right" or"left". There was an older Chinese driver who froze on every intersection because he did not know where to go... Couldn't follow his GPS either. I tried to help, but he just gestured, pointing finger right or left. I was going to the hospital, was glad to get there, but no time to report him.
The language knowledge NEEDS to be tested.Drivers who can't read street name or communicate with passengers are plain dangerous!
I hope this issue will be addressed.

Rides Cancelled by Via

For the past two or three months, we have had trouble getting a Via in Manhattan at night...I don't mean late, late night, I mean around 9 or 10 pm. Twice we have had rides set up and then they were cancelled by Via; two or three other times Via couldn't find us a ride at all. Otherwise, once a driver shows up, we are very satisfied with the service.

I love VIA but am only giving 4 starts…

I love VIA but am only giving 4 starts because the prices are too high for shared rides with other people and corner-to-corner drop-offs. Overall very satisfied with the service with only the occasional mistake with a too-distant pick-up or drop-off.
