MT2001-8S Beast of A Machine
I purchased a Ricoma MT2001-8S
First I would like to say that I am not a Ricoma representative and am not paid or compensated in any way by the company. This is just my opinion and a description of my experience with the machine and Ricoma.
The machine arrived about six weeks after I purchased it in a crate on a pallet. I was told at the time of purchase that it would be six to eight weeks for delivery. I was not charged any extra for shipping. As with most free shipping promotions, the shipping cost is built into the purchase price, nothing is for nothing.
It took three people to get the machine out of the crate and hefted into my basement and onto the stand. The machine came pre-threaded and I spent the next couple of hours loading my thread into the machine. This is required prior to the on-line one-on-one training.
After the live two hour online video training I dove into setting up the machine to do my thing. It was not all kittens and puppies, I got frustrated and discouraged with myself actually because I knew my issues were operator error.
I have been doing embroidery on a single needle Baby Lock Solaris for several years and remembered back to my first experience with that machine and recall the same frustrating issues. The Ricoma is just like it except that it has twenty needles instead of one. That's twenty times the issues.
I have been running the machine for a while now and have figured out all the quirks. All of my issues have been related to thread and the threading of the machine. Bottom line, operator error. The machine and I disliked each other at first but we are now great friends.
I have reached out to customer service twice and have received a response within a few hours. Like I said, the real issue was operator error. If you purchase an embroidery machine from anyone no matter what the brand, be patient and learn the quirks of your machine. They all have them. I have five different embroidery machines and they all act differently from thread brands to needle sizes and stabilizer. The Ricoma was not my first rodeo ride.
I have read a lot of horrible customer reviews for not just Ricome, but lots of embroidery machine companies. As I read the reviews I can read between the lines and know that this is their first machine ever and are literally starting from scratch. The problems that they describe are all simple adjustments and over expectation.
If you live in northeast Georgia, I would be happy to show you around my Ricoma machine and demonstrate it for you if you are on the fence about getting into embroidery. I live in Hoschton which is 55 miles northeast of Atlanta. Call me and I'll show you the ropes. 417-291-7719 Tim Nicholas
I only have one con about the machine...It does not come with an operating, troubleshooting and maintenance manual. I am a tech manual kind of person and do not like having to ask someone for help. I like to look things up on my own. For me it's a better learning experience.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS
AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Very sketchy company. Extremely deceptive and has no problem sending you an old machine in place of a new one and charging you the full retail price. Awful management, and poor customer service. Not an authorized retailer of certain products they sell. Takes five months for a "new" machine to arrive. When it arrives it has missing parts and they have no idea where to find them. They borderline just do not care and have no standards whatsoever. DO NOT USE RICOMA.
KS-820 ikonix sewing machine I bought…
KS-820 ikonix sewing machine I bought my machine in January for a couple a months I had it new the first thing I noticed it was missing the turn wheel I called and they sent it to me then I have a work we’re I work 3 straight doubles when I had the time for the machine I tried and use it and till now I have not been able to use it I called customer support and we did all the test that the needle doesn’t pick up the bobbin thread and they said I can send it to them to fix it but it’s going to be on my cost if it’s brand new and I don’t have 1 year with it it should be still under warranty they are no help regarding sewing machine
sales great-- after that, service and parts very bad
sales great after that pure junk, Improve get rid of all service. get people that know what they are talking about and will understand you can not fix mechanical problems with computer parts. speed up the weeks of time spent on phone and emails. from the first day got machine, and still today crickets. got on 1/15/23 and had problems with this machine from that day forward. The thread change motor was hitting the head as it came across the slide changer from the factory, had the head in a bind, then the thread break detection wheels stop working. Had a mechanic with me look at parts and there was no grease in them dry bearings that made them magnetize themselves. Ricoma sent computer parts to fix the head hitting. and tried to tell me about setting the thread to a (sweet)" spot to fix the wheels. what a joke they only care about the sale after that you are on your own. I have years in business over 40 and have never seen such incompetence. please if you just spend time reading what others have to say. just stay far away from this company.
Absolutely horrible transfer paper
Absolutely horrible transfer paper, when I bought the printer, it came with transfer paper with lines on the back which worked great! Since it performed so well, I decided to order 200 more sheets of each over $500.00 in paper, Using the exact same settings I used with the original transfer paper and the same processing steps I got fail after fail. When I contacted the company letting them know my experience and requesting the original paper so I could fulfill an order I was told they didn't have that particular paper. I was the sent a link to Icolor to try their paper.
They are refunding me for the paper which is great this just goes a little deeper for me, I run a small black veteran owned business, and this will be the first order I will not be able to fill on time.
Completely frustrated and not understanding how so a large company would have this issue.
Avoid Ricoma!
Ricoma has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I purchased the luminas printer pro bundle ($8K) and have had it three weeks. The printer is having banding issues and after three weeks I still have no resolution. They sent me a new white toner and it still has banding issues. I call for service, get put on hold and then get hung up on. When I do get to talk to someone they always say the specialist for the printer service is not in, so I leave messages asking for a return call and never get a call. Finally got to talk to someone and the said they were going to send me cleaning instructions and that I would need isopropyl alcohol to clean the unit but I never received those instructions. After opening the panels to see if there was something obvious to clean and closing back up I now have an error message that won’t clear. I called for the error message and was sent to another voice mail. DO NOT BUY FROM RICOMA.

Great company
Great company. Haven't had any issues with my machine, MT1501, and when I did early on, Support has came handy. Have bought two machines so far, hopefully more to come!
Absolutely, Positively Garbage
Absolutely, positively garbage. My wife and I bought an EM-1010 in early September to have a multi-needle available for our growing business, and financed through Synchrony. We set it up, completed training, and the nightmare hasn't stopped since.
For starters, my wife has embroidered probably 30k items across several different brands of multi-needle embroidery machines. She knows what she's doing. But with this machine, we dealt with:
1. Major MAJOR tension issues. You could complete a perfect tension test, change NO settings, and the very next tension test would somehow be terrible.
2. Birds nests, loops in needle, ruined inventory, and knocking noises got worse and worse over time.
We opened a support ticket within 30 days of receiving the machine, and the nightmare continued. We replaced a circuit board per their instructions, which resolved NONE of the issues. It got to the point that the machine was clearly defective and inoperable, unable to meet even the most basic of embroidery tasks.
The time between emails from support got longer, and we finally asked for a refund on our defective machine. They instantly stopped responding. So we opened a chargeback with Synchrony, and they continually closed our disputes without telling us anything at all about the reasons why. Eventually they FINALLY told us Ricoma claimed to be willing to work with us.
No one at Ricoma had any clue who I needed to talk to, and when I finally got transferred to Sales, they told me that we'd owe the 25% restocking fee EVEN ON A DEFECTIVE ITEM if we didn't allow them to replace the machine. This is ABSOLUTELY against the terms within the sales order, which have no such stipulation, and is extremely underhanded and unprofessional.
I haven't had a single good experience with this company after they got our money. RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN. I just want my money back and to not have to deal with this anymore. I shouldn't have to fight them to abide by their own defective return policies.
Great Salesmen, Poor Support, Poor Everything
October of 2022 I bought the MT-1501 through Ricoma and right away I found the machine came with the timing not set from the factory. So the machine was down for a while right away. They got someone one to fix it fairly quick. The Gen2 hat hoop I received does not hold the hat tight and does not work correctly. It took me from Dec. 7th until mid February to get any answers from them about what can be done. First they were going to let me trade it in for something of eagle value. That was what they told me in December. Now mid February they said they can’t do anything. They were unwilling to return or trade it. Their solution was to give me a $300 or $400 credit. Which is bs because the hat hoop that I cannot use is about $750. So I agreed with their crappy deal and have been trying to contact them for over a week to make the purchases I was needing since December. I will not EVER buy from Ricoma AGAIN! The machine is working great but their Service is TRASH! The 3 account managers that I’ve been assigned never answer or return my calls or emails. I get promotional emails all day but nothing from the support team. I would recommend any other company for your embroidery needs. I have gone straight to mighty hoop for the purchases I've been needing to make and the future machine I plan on buying will be purchased from another company.

Bait and switch sent knock off item took 10 days to ship ordered electric scissors' 139.00 got a used pair that some one had returned instead of what i ordered took over a week to get a return message
Get your supplies elsewhere
I used to use this company for DTG printer supplies, namely ink carts. I stopped using this company after an unpleasant experience when buying ink for the holiday rush. We were going through it faster than I estimated with it being our first holiday season as a company. I placed an order for a full run of ink (that's 4 colors and 2 whites for my printer) and the next day I turned around and ordered 4 whites (2 of each) and paid $80 for next day air.
Well... my first order shipped out that week. My $80 shipping, next day order, took a week to ship out. My regular order was delivered first even. However, it was completely missing the whites. i called to figure it out and I was told the whites would be shipping separately and I was basically told too bad on the overnight order, because the $80 I paid was just for the shipping, I was told that didn't entitle me to get my order out any sooner. Though I don't understand why my regular order shipped in 3 days and it took 7 for the overnight. It took MONTHS to get the 2 whites missing from the first order, and even after several calls and emails, I get a snarky email saying that they can't find any proof they sent them so they'll re-send them out to me. The whole thing was written as if I was lying and getting something free out of it. Well if you can't find the tracking number or shipping notification, it's probably because IT WAS NEVER SENT. Don't be rude to your customers because you made a mistake.
By far the worst machine ks-810 and…
By far the worst machine ks-810 and horrible single threaded customer service! DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!
Think twice, service sucks
Ricoma resales a machine built overseas. They are nice machines but if you need parts and or service, plan on waiting a very long time, 2 months ago an employee places a broom next toy tc 1501 and the broom fell hitting the USB causing it to break the plug in port. I did call and after a week they sent the part. I replaced it but still it does not work. So I tool the control head off and sent it in so they could fix my problem. It has now been 6 weeks and I had to call and raze he'll to get the ball rolling, so 1500 bucks later and the part might be on the way I might be able to get back in business. I can not begin to tell you how much money I had to turn away. 2 months with out this machine has cost me dearly.
I bought a Ricoma RCM C-H 4 head 11…
I bought a Ricoma RCM C-H 4 head 11 needle embroidery machine from a company that claimed that they bought the machine brand new but never used it as they changed business direction. Now I know they lied, because I think they could never make the machine produce good quality. embroidery. The machine break threads non stop, no matter what i do. Ive used upper thread tension tool, Ive used bobbin tension tools, Ive adjusted the hook timing multiple times, Ive changed threads, Ive changed bobbin cases, Ive changed needles, I've followed every instructions and advice on the internet concerning thread tension all to no avail. The machine shows correct to reasonable H tests but as soon as i try to embroider something threads start breaking. I am at my wits end. It has cost me time and money and a very stressful time. I am honest enough not to try and sell off this machine to someone else so I guess it will become a very expensive paper weight. I will never ever buy a Ricoma machine again no matter how cheap they are. Oh the other thing is there is no information at all about this particular machine, no operators manual, no service manual, nothing on the internet or even from Ricoma agents. It seems Ricoma wants to forget about the machine.
Purchased a 6 head embroidery machine…
Purchased a 6 head embroidery machine from them a year ago. We had problems with the machine from the beginning. They had told us that their machine could do everything the top machines in embroidery could do which was not the case. We have lost a lot of money in lost revenue and ruined product due to poor performance of the embroidery machine. Stay away from this company if you are looking for an embroidery machine. In fact, all the other distributors of embroidery machines will not take a Ricoma in on trade. There is even a company that buys used machines and the first machine on their will not buy list is a Ricoma. They will however buy other machines that do not work because they still have value to them for the parts or to be refurbished.
