Reverb is solid. It's a good platform for buying and selling music gear. Good, not great. As a seller, the good is that the negotiated shipping prices make it reasonable to get gear to a buyer easily... See more

Support team is broken—10 agents, zero answers, two weeks
I purchased an Astral Toneworx JTM45 Preamp on April 27 (order #25516598). The product arrived fine. What followed was the most baffling and infuriating customer support experience of my life.
On May 1, Reverb sent me an unsolicited email from an agent named "Luningning" about a Gibson 1957 Custom Les Paul Custom—a high-value guitar transaction I had absolutely no connection to. Naturally I was alarmed and wanted to know what was going on. That simple question triggered two weeks of complete dysfunction.
I contacted live chat support repeatedly. Every single time, the agent would read my concern, say "someone is already working on this and will follow up by email," and hang up—even when I explicitly begged them not to. I said "do not hang up on me" multiple times in multiple sessions. They hung up anyway. This happened with agent after agent: Maurice, Celeen, Winedy, Kathleen, Blake, and others. Every one of them. Same script, same abrupt goodbye, same broken promise of email follow-up that never came.
When I pushed back and said I refused to wait for another email that would never arrive, they told me no supervisor was available and ended the chat anyway. When I filed a return request on my order specifically to create leverage and get a real response, Blake still hung up.
I also tweeted at @reverb multiple times over several days. They responded once on May 5 promising a specialist would follow up by email. No one did.
Ticket #9507120 was opened by an agent named Ally on May 2 and never substantively answered. It was eventually just silently merged into another thread.
Their email responses were clearly AI-generated boilerplate that had nothing to do with my actual question—security verification scripts, "system glitch" non-answers, none of which addressed what I was asking.
After ten-plus interactions across chat, email, and Twitter over two weeks, my question was never answered. Reverb's support agents appear to be trained exclusively to close tickets as fast as possible regardless of whether the issue is resolved. The email follow-up system is either broken or doesn't exist. Avoid this platform for any purchase where there's any chance you'll need help.
If your looking for gear reverb has it here
I think over all reverb is a good platform for musicians to sell buy and trade instruments or anyone for that matter who is looking for instruments for what ever reason anytime I'm looking for anything related to music reverb is my first stop and I usually find what I'm looking for at a fair price if your looking for vintage gear which I always am reverb is the place.
A happy customer
I only had one disappointment with an order, but that was my fault, I didn’t read all the details of the product. I love reverb’s service and will continue to use it, and will tell others to use Reverb.
Amazing! - ProAudioStar
ProAudioStar - The seller I bought from.
My first time on Reverb I was looking for some budget monitors came across a pair or JBL 305's at an amazing price. Shipped the next day had them in 3 days, amazingly packed and in absolute mint condition. I'm sure as with any open market some sellers are better than others but if the seller I noted at top has your product you won't go wrong.
Reverb has much to improve
I have been a buyer and seller on Reverb since 2015. During this time, most of my transactions, both selling and buying, were good with the exception of few bad encounters. Unfortunately, in the past several years an increasing number of scammers have infiltrated the platform. More importantly, Reverb has been increasingly ineffective in dealing with the issues caused by bad actors.
First, Reverb uses an automated help center and provides no phone number or method for immediate contact. All inquiries are channeled through an automated Chat that takes you through “common issues,” before setting up email contact with a service representative. You are not connected to a service agent right away, rather you wait for a service agent to contact you later, which can be several days.
Second, Reverb has no “due process” or verification of their procedures. Despite using Reverb for months, and having only positive sales and purchases, my account was put “Under Review “ without notification. Only after contacting Reverb about an unscrupulous seller several days later, did I find out from their Chat that my account was under review. The automated Chat asked if I had received email notification that my account was under review. I replied no. I requested to know why my account was under review. The automated response was only the service agent can discuss the issue. Over two days later, I finally received an email from their service team. At no time did I ever receive a message from Reverb that my account was under review. It took them a couple days to solve a simple identity issue that was unnecessary. During this time I could not even use message service to contact sellers about my pending purchases.
Third, phishing messages are very common on Reverb now and all you can do is report them..you cannot delete them. I was selling a guitar and I got 6 phishing messages from Reverb scammers within days. I contacted Reverb through through Chat and after several attempts finally corresponded with a service agent who just told me to report them. I requested they be erased and the agent said they couldn’t do that. So when they sent me an email to evaluate the Reverb service, I complained out thistle .. and magically the messages were deleted from my Reverb mailbox!
Third, Reverb is knowingly allowing sellers using deceptive practices, which violate Reverb policy to continue to use Reverb even after customer reviews and direct customer complaints about the sellers. I purchased bushings from Zaiar Outlet, after they sent me an offer because I “watched” their product. I received a Fed Ex tracking number and waited. The next day I received a package from Amazon. I opened it up to find tuner bushings. At first, I was confused because I didn’t order bushings from Amazon. Then I realized that Zaiar Outlet had ordered them and had them sent to me. I checked out the seller. No website outside of Reverb platform. I checked numerous items listed in their shop, all were listed on Amazon at a significantly lower price. I examined their Reverb reviews. Among them were numerous buyers who received their items from Amazon, calling out Zaiar Outlet for this practice. Clearly, this seller is violating Reverbs policy on drop selling. To cover their tracks and receive payment from Reverb for their sale to me, Zaiar Outlet provided Reverb with a Fed Ex tracking number for some other package. Fed Ex records show the package delivered to me was 47”x19”x14” and 29lbs? For 6 tuner bushings that weigh less than an ounce an fit in a standard envelope! I reported this information to the Reverb service agent and provided photo evidence. They did not discuss the issue further with me but instead offered Reverb credit for my purchase! They did not suspend seller! This is the second seller that I have encountered exclusively reselling Amazon products directly from Amazon and in a deceptive manner to Reverb buyers. With the first Seller, I requested to return product and sent it directly back to Amazon. I did not pursue it any further.
Finally, Reverb doesn’t allow you to give negative feedback until you message the buyer or seller you are leaving feedback for. While I agree that communication among aggrieved parties is important, members of Reverb shouldn’t be forced to communicate with scammers. I had one potential buyer who I identified as a scammer, so I canceled the sale. Consequently, he sent threatening messages to me about knowing who I was and where I live. Reverb also doesn’t allow feedback when purchases are refunded. But feedback is often needed to warn other potential buyers about sellers or their products. Moreover, Reverb only displays average rating, leaving the buyers to look through ratings for potential issues with sellers.
Go To Sweetwater
Overall it’s an ok platform now - since Fender took over too many fraud/scam listings have infested this website. Anytime a report is sent there’s 0 follow up on any investigations/findings. Reverb used to be a great place to buy and sell music gear, now it’s just a place to be weary and cautious if you’re looking to do literally anything on this platform. If you’re ever buying anything new go to Sweetwater. Don’t waste your time on this platform, too many fraudulent listings and accounts now to tell any difference apart from each other. Very sad they let this platform degrade over the years like this, but welcome to 2026 and big corporate greed. Just being honest.
Guitar received not as described
Guitar received not as described, in very poor condition, not working, additionally damaged in transit. Seller not cooperates at all, Reverb Team invesigate baby simple problem for a Week: contacting my credit card issuer now to revert payment.
Cesspool for Scammers
I have been a loyal Reverb user for years, maintaining a perfect record as both a buyer and a seller with over 50 positive reviews. Despite this history, the platform’s complete lack of security oversight and human support has resulted in the theft of nearly $1,000.
On April 27, 2026, I completed the sale of two guitars for a total payout of $992.52. An unauthorized third party breached my account and altered my banking information to redirect these funds. When I noticed the incorrect account number on April 30, I immediately attempted to contact Reverb to stop the payout.
The experience that followed was a masterclass in corporate negligence:
• No Urgent Contact Method: Reverb has no direct telephone number for support, which is unacceptable for a platform handling high-value financial transactions.
• Ignored Pleas for Help: I reached a live representative via chat within five minutes of the misdirected transaction and begged them to stop the payout. I was told the issue was being "escalated," but I never received a follow-up email.
• Gatekeeping by AI: When I tried to follow up, the chat AI refused to connect me to a human, claiming the issue was being handled while my funds were being sent to a criminal.
• Total Silence: It has been six days since my account was locked, and my multiple requests for assistance have gone completely ignored.
I have been forced to file a formal report with the San Francisco Police Department (Report #260240644) because Reverb failed to secure my disbursement or act when alerted to an active theft.
As a platform that claims to "verify account changes" and secure disbursements, Reverb has failed at every level. Do not trust this site with your gear or your money; if something goes wrong, they will hide behind a chatbot while your money vanishes.
Bongo
Spoke with Dillon about purchasing a bass they had for sale and asked if they could delay shipping till I got home! Very nice of them to do that. They move quickly, respond quickly! I highly recommend this shop!!
What a great experience
What a great experience, I love to stop in regularly just to browse and get inspired. Buying and selling is made easy. Shipping with Reverbs shipping labels is also easy and the most affordable method. I’ll be back to check out more gear, and explore new options.

Site Does Not Allow Seller Reviews on…
Site Does Not Allow Seller Reviews on Refunded Items
There is no buyer protection through a review process for the potentially worst offenders who misrepresented their product and had to issue a refund. I just dealt with a 5 star seller who used a name brand product item number, description, and photo--then refused to acknowledge they misrepresented their item when what was received was not name brand and did not match the photos. I expected to be able to warn others once the refund process was completed and now there is no option to give any buyers a heads up. This terrible policy explains why the reviews skew favorable and bad experiences can be so surprising--the other people with bad experiences were probably locked out of reviewing the seller, too!
Reverb, trustworthy, honest and knowledgeable people!
Every piece of equipment I have purchased through reverb has been a smooth, honest, easy transaction!
The folks at Reverb itself know their business and are knowledgeable about the equipment whatever it may be.
The sellers have all been honest and helpful people!
I will be continuing to work with Reverb and their community of sellers for the foreseeable future!!

Found the guitar I wanted
Found the guitar I wanted and was offered at a very reduced price . Communication with seller was great and I received the guitar in 3 days . The guitar is awesome, Gibson Firebird, and I love it . Everything through Reverb was very smooth, no problems.
Smooth features
Smooth features, good communication, at least with this seller. Experience might vary from seller to seller.
Conceal "Direct Signature Required" for…
Conceal "Direct Signature Required" for items over $100. This means you must be home, and physically sign to receive your package. They hold the money and collect interest off of it. The process goes on for days if not weeks. It's FedEx not USPS so their hub is over an hour away from me here in busy South Orange County CA. Here is where Reverb gets deceptive: they try to blame FedEx and say you have "options". They will not acknowlege the chaos they create between buyers and sellers. I think Etsy (public co) sold them, and it got taken private bc the platform is a laibility. Class Action Attorneys we have a case for your review. They money is confirmed held back from the seller until the buyer signs and takes control of the package. The whole thing is avoidable. A common feature is "Indirect Signature Required" which would allow the receiver to sign their sticky note door tag and receive their product (while at work). It is a common feature. It would also be reasonable to allow sellers and buyers to choose shipping options. Requiring a feature that adds days or weeks in transit tells me they are doing what Venmo does which is to profit from the money sitting in the float.
