Absolutely misleading and incredibly frustrating! You advertise a “free” resume template and let users spend significant time creating and editing their resume, only to demand payment when they finally try to download it. If the download requires payment, say that clearly from the beginning instead of wasting people’s time with misleading “free” claims. This feels deceptive, dishonest, and extremely disrespectful to users’ time. Resume.io seriously needs to be more transparent about its pricing.

Instead of building a loyal customer base through genuine product quality and value, this company appears to rely on dark patterns and misleading UX choices to generate recurring revenue.
When signing up for their $2.95 introductory trial on the web, the interface is designed to make the trial price front-and-center while intentionally obscuring the fine print. The fact that your credit card details are retained and automatically charged a recurring subscription fee - one that is 10 times higher ($29.95) than the trial price, is hidden behind heavy walls of text, pop-up disclaimers, and subtle visual design that is easy to miss during checkout.
Here is my exact experience: I signed up solely to complete a quick task of creating my own resume, which I finished within two days. The platform automatically charged me $29.95 at 5:00 AM when the trial period rolled over. I realized it immediately and requested a cancellation within 2 hours of the charge.
Despite zero platform activity, zero downloads, and zero cloud or server resource usage in the new billing period, customer support repeatedly refused to offer a goodwill refund, hiding behind rigid policy scripts. When I asked to escalate the issue to a billing manager, the request was completely ignored, and I was instead offered useless "paused access" options for a service I no longer needed.
Looking at the sheer volume of identical complaints online confirms this is not an accidental customer service failure. it is a calculated revenue model. A reputable company retains customers by delivering superior service. deceptive companies rely on sneaky recurring charges and non-refundable trial traps.
Advice to future users: Be extremely cautious, cancel your subscription immediately after purchase, or use a virtual burnable credit card if you plan to use this platform.

Very disappointed with Resume.io
I signed up expecting a straightforward resume service, but I was shocked to find subscription charges that I did not knowingly authorize or expect.
Charging customers for recurring subscriptions without making the renewal terms and charges sufficiently clear is extremely frustrating. I feel this was handled unfairly, and it has seriously damaged my trust in the service.

I’ve been using the service for several years – on the one hand, it’s excellent.
But when I needed to download a resume urgently, I ran into a problem with payment and downloading the resume. I tried several cards and different payment methods, and my friends tried to pay as well – to no result.
Support takes several days to respond and tells you to try registering a new account and paying through it. That’s the level of the support and assistance they offer.
It’s a perfect example of how a beloved brand can turn into nothing.
Update as of August 20: I was able to make the payment via PayPal

They do not make it clear, upfront, that any effort put into uploaded, designing, writing and curating any new CV, would require payment. There is no 'freemium' service, or anything of that nature like many others. There is no trail. It's a bit deceiving.
I have the 7 days, because I have spent so much time now. But I won't be used this again now.

The merchant advertised a free or low-cost trial to build a document, hid the recurring subscription terms, and charged my card $29 without providing a clear notice or a renewal warning.
I entered my credit card information thinking I was downloading a $2 pdf, then I was charged $29.95 for a subscription a few days later.

They charged my account $36.90 over a week to change the layout of my almost finished CV. If it was made clear there was an extra charge so soon I would never have gone near Resume IO because myperfectresume is just as effective for free. I requested a refund which was declined so to shape my already near completed resume onto an AI layout cost $36.90, SMH.

Again this crooked company have debited my account again. This as been going on since January. Despite my bank getting the money back each time.
This company commit theft as they take money from people who are not even subscribed. Even if you cancel before the free subscription ends.
Don’t give this company your bank details
