Horrible customer service by Renewal by Anderson Las Vegas
I spent over $50,000 having all my windows and doors replaced by Renewal by Anderson. When I called Thursday to inform them I couldn't get out the front door of my home, the only access to the front of the house, they said they couldn't get anyone to fix their defective door until 6 days later. I expressed my concern about it being a fire hazard since I could only open the garage door to get out to the front yard in case of a fire or for any other emergency, but it made no difference. Renewal by Anderson still said it would still take 6 days before they could send someone to fix their defective door. I spent a huge amount of money after they promised they stood behind their self manufactured products with an extended warranty. But when it comes down to it, they have horrible customer service. They are not standing behind their promises or products!
They Mean What They Advertise
The first thing that impressed me was the patience and consistency of the company. Replacement windows seemed out of our price range, but we had old wooden windows that could be drafty and sometimes stuck.
The “salesman” who came to my messy, cluttered house to give us an estimate never made me feel like I should have hired a maid before contacting them. They left us that day with a firm price that was good for a year.
It seemed like a lot of money & I was not quick about making a decision. In fact, I let the year go by and ended up calling them again. The price did go up, but it was less of an increase than the inflation rate. I never once received a call pressuring me to buy the windows.
Eventually, we replaced all of our windows with the company. There are many beautiful and more expensive window styles shown on the website. They look impressive and if I was independently wealthy, I might have chosen something fancy. I’m not & I’m sure they could tell that by looking at the way we lived. I felt no judgement, but they helped us figure out the most economical way to replace the windows and bring my older home into compliance with new laws regarding egress. I had thought about how I would get out of my home if there was a fire and I couldn’t get to the first floor. I thought I could squeeze through the opening, but I never tested the theory. Now at least one window in every living space opens widely and I definitely could make it through if, God forbid, I had to.
We ended up with all white windows, because they were less expensive & we use our home to live in, not as a showplace. No fancy designs, but they still look and work better than the original windows. Our windows were slightly different sizes but they manufactured windows that fit the openings.
When the windows were installed, I was recovering from surgery and was actually in my bed when the windows were installed. It was winter in Maine, so it was cold outside. The installation was quick and drama free. The windows fit well, the installers were friendly and spoke English.
We chose to finance both because we didn’t have the cash and the terms were very reasonable. I can’t remember the specifics (that surgery was for a brain tumor) but my older son, who is very frugal and very good with math, assured me the deal was both good and solid. We were able to pay for the windows without incurring a finance charge.
I don’t plan on selling anytime soon, but when I do, I believe the windows will boost the price and value. In the meantime, they reduced any drafts and lowered our heating costs. I can’t recall the date exactly. I have given my best estimate.
RUN. AND FAST
zero pros. They prey on the elderly and uneducated people to get them to sign 20 year financial contracts for products that are 1000% higher then the next highest competition. Management are truly heartless cowards that are making well over half million a year to work part time. And during the training process. We are brainwashed to deceive people and lock them into low payment loans and tell you there 0% person loans and we are not to EVER inform the client that it’s only that for 2 years then goes to credit card interest for 240 months. 20 years!! These people destroy lives and god forbid an employee question them on it. Travis the main training and sales manager is the most crooked little man that gets a high from ripping anyone off and destroying anyone that gets in his way. If it be family. Elders. Mentally unstable. He’s a very bad individual and please look into this and do not fall for it. They will
Come after you. They are an United States company from Alaska that not long ago moved
To British Columbia as they seen a massive population to scam and profit from. Mark my
Words. There main office is in Vancouver. Travis the con artist is about 5 foot 6 and walks as he’s 7 foot 2. And that speaks volumes.
This is for those of you who haven't…
This is for those of you who haven't decided yet on installing new windows in your home. While Andersen IS "thee" elitist of them all and priciest? By NO means are they substantially better than many other window vendors, at least? In the Las Vegas area. The quality is there and the workmanship. But I've used another windowmaker whose been around Vegas for "eons" who did my home beautiful, strong and well fabricated windows for one third less the price. I also can't say much for the warranty of Andersen, as it was like "pulling teeth" to get them out and consequently? I wound up calling another vendor to assist with a minor but NECESSARY problem. Choose wisely and please, don't be fooled the their OVERadvertising.
Very disappointed for the result with cost paid
We had renewal by Anderson replace a sliding door, front door and large bedroom window. This was $26,000 after a $10,000 discount.
The salesman was great. They ordered our front door in the wrong size. This resulted in issues with the trim and looking very sloppy on the outside. ABC seamless installed and had to use large amounts of caulking to make up for the wrong size door. Now with painting our home and the caulking, it will cause issues having a smooth finish.
They ordered the sliding door to open the wrong orientation. Very disappointed we paid the amount of money we did for this resulted.
Predatory Pricing and High-Pressure Sales Tactics — Get a Second Opinion
As a fenestration professional with over two decades of experience in the BC market, I feel a moral obligation to call out the predatory tactics this company is using on homeowners in our community. I have reviewed their quotes and heard directly from local homeowners who have been subjected to their sales pitches.
First, their pricing is completely detached from reality. Quoting $12,000 for a single 8-foot by 4-foot fixed (non-opening) window is nothing short of extortion. They attempt to justify this astronomical markup by touting their fiberglass/PVC extrusion. The building science simply does not support this cost. You can achieve the exact same U-values and strictly adhere to NAFS standards and the National Building Code with high-quality vinyl or standard fiberglass windows for a fraction of that price—typically under $3,000 on the absolute high end.
Worse than the pricing are the high-pressure, manufactured-urgency tactics. They insist that every homeowner on the title must be present for the initial and only visit. This is not for your convenience; it is a calculated move to trap you into a one-call close, forcing immediate signatures on financing documents and personal guarantees before you have a chance to research, breathe, or get a second opinion.
A reputable contractor will diagnose your home's actual needs, provide a fair, fact-based quote, and give you the space to make an informed decision without breathing down your neck. Do your research, get multiple quotes, and do not fall for these predatory, high-pressure financing traps.
We had the worst experience with Renewal
We had the worst experience with RENEWAL BY ANDERSON. We met with the sales person and went through the process of picking new replacement windows for our home. The sales person suggested a particular set of windows to be mulled with the picture window we choose. The sales person when explained how the windows would operate or look because he didn’t have a sample of them. We took his professional suggest. A month later a gentleman came out and measured the windows and placed the order. About six weeks later we received a call to schedule the installation. We explained to the scheduler we would not be available to be present during the installation but we could have our neighbor let them into the home to complete their work, that was except-able so the install was scheduled. They arrived on-time and installed the windows. When we arrived home we went to inspect the job that was completed. As we looked at the picture window you could see the window locks to the side windows in the view of the picture window, very ugly and disruptive to the view out of the window. The we opened the windows that slide directly into the picture window, so with the side windows open you can’t look out the picture window because it’s blocked by the frames to the side windows. We installing called our salesman and told him that we did not like the windows and we were never explained that this window would have these intrusions blocking the picture window. He said he would contact his manager to see what they could do to rectify the situation. We received a return call later that evening by the salesperson stating that his manger said live with the window for a month or so to see if it wasn’t a problem at all and to see if we could live with it as is. We have called back several times to tell them that this window was absolutely not acceptable. We have never been called back to fix this problem. Every time we speak to someone they say they will have a Manger call us ASAP to fix the issue. Never a call!! The funniest part about this story is we had a customer service representative call us to ask us how our installation went, we explained that it didn’t go well at all and explained the situation. The representative apologized claimed she would look into this and make sure her direct boss would call us to resolve this. Never ever a call back. At this point we believe are only recourse is to take this company to court. This is unspeakable service after spending close to $16,000.00 for a product this is absolutely awful. We would never ever recommend this company to anyone, if it was possible to rate them as a 0 we would as you could imagine.
$$$$$
Called for an estimate for 13 windows 50k. Then said the estimate was good for 6 weeks with that price and could go up depending on material cost. Thats over 3800. for each window. Thats over double of what other companies charge. Way over priced
I requested quote for all windows and…
I requested quote for all windows and they quoted like 55k which was almost 10% of the house price. This happened couple of years back. Nowadays I see they claim the house price goes up by 10% and it matches with their quote. This is dumb. How can you say that? What if I am not selling house? The sales tactic is laughable. Actually even a Vinyl windows gives 25 years of guarantee nowadays so why I care if you give lifetime guarantee? How many years we will live anyway. This company should close themselves.
Costly, too heavy , screens have cheap metal clips
The windows are very, very heavy. It's good for weather. However, very hard to open and nothing to hold on to too open them without getting fingerprints all over them. The screens are okay, but the metal latches to lock them in are cheap and can break very easily. Felt like I paid too much for what I got.
Dear window people
Dear window people, I am so excited about my new windows! They’re bigger, I can see forever when I look out. My windows were over 100 years old and I couldn’t even clean them. They had ropes and pulleys and were very heavy! Gene and Caleb came out to install them and they were very precise and professional! I wish that I could have gotten the windows sooner. They have made my home look 100% better! From the looks of them my home will be warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer!
Charge my elderly relatives $24,000 for…
Charge my elderly relatives $24,000 for a new front door and a new back door to their small family home. Scum.
Minus 5!
We had a DISGUSTING experience with Renewal by Andersen of Greater Maine Bangor.
Salesman walks in sees almost new house:
20 years old with original Anderson doors. He knows we have standard size doors and that selling us custom sizes (what Renewal says they do) is wrong but he continues.
During the sales process, we were told we needed custom-sized French doors and full frame and casing replacement. Then the measuring expert comes says standard sizes work and we save 7%.
They rip out frames and casings anyway and put in new everything including the exact same size doors as we have. Then we find our old doors fit in the new frames. Great way to treat your best customers!
Horrible installation too! Doors open on their own, the door frames are visibly out of alignment, there are gaps covered with excessive caulking, and the doors are drafty unless locked. They also rattle when closed. Weatherstripping began failing within days and repairs didn’t last.
During installation, parts of our wired security system were removed and returned disconnected, leaving it non-functional. We were later told we were responsible for removing it, even though nothing in the contract said that.
We also had personal property damaged during installation.
Overall, this experience involved misleading information during the sales process and substandard workmanship. For the price charged (about $46,000), we expected much better.
I would strongly recommend getting multiple quotes and asking very detailed questions before signing anything. If there is more than one page of fine print run for cover. Our contract is 12 pages long.
Absolutely horrible
Absolutely horrible! A $14,000 entrance door? Nothing fancy. I thought the reps lap top was not working correctly.
How many people actually buy from this place? Please get more quotes. We bought a beautiful entrance door for 1/3 the cost..bought from Menards and hired a guy to install it. $5000
Fool me once, shame on you...
I'm one of the lucky ones that experienced Renewal By Andersen's horrendous customer service in time to cancel my contract. The salesman that wrote my contract agreed to a post dated check for down payment to allow time for me to transfer funds from other accounts. My bank called me to tell me I was overdrawn the next business day. They provided a photo copy of the post dated check that had been cashed by Andersen 4 days before the date on the check. I immediately called the salesman and of course went to voicemail where I left a message. I called Andersen customer service and the agent took no responsibility. I insisted on speaking to a decision maker and was passed along to "accounting". Again I got "we'll get back to you". I let them know time was of the essence and I would need to stop payment on the check and cancel the contract to protect my bank account from being overdrawn. They said they never cashed the check and even stated they had it in hand. To prevent this overly long post being even longer, suffice it to say Andersen's response will be to first disavow responsibility, then blame the customer, then once irrefutable evidence is presented, finally "take responsibility". This company is not to be trusted and will not live up to it's lofty promises. BUYER BEWARE!
Crooks and bandits
This company is the worst I ever had doing home improvement work at my home. It took 10 months to install 5 window openings. It took 7-8 weeks for the first install. 2 of the windows were of the wrong design/pattern and 1 window had a large hole/gash on the outside window frame. We had to wait anther 6-8 weeks for new windows to be partially installed because the crew had to leave and didn't speak english. That crew left 2 drywall holes at the top of the 2 windows which they covered with our blinds. Also, they said they only use in house installers which we found out was B.S. because they are not W-2 employees. Communication was extremely poor and all they do is lie to you. We paid 29,000 for the windows, suffered slot of disappoint and received no compensation for what they put us through. Please stay far away from this company because they are the worst of the worst people to deal with. They are very overpriced, offer poor workmanship and never stop lying to you. 0 stars is what the deserve!!!!
We have had an excellent experience…with Eric Clay
We have had an excellent experience with Andersen windows. Eric Clay is a wonderful man, he helped us make our decisions & tried to get us best deal. Unfortunately me being 76 & having alot on my plate ,didn't look at all the info , or even a breakdown of cost. A mixup concerning the payment caused me to react & gave this man a bad review, he didn't deserve. Remember once a review is done in haste, without facts ,it never goes a way. Eric im sorry
I contacted Renewal by Anderson for…
I contacted Renewal by Anderson for information about window replacement, I told them I was just wanting information and that I would contact them if I decided to use them. Now I get daily calls even after telling them again that would contact them. I have blocked their number on my phone and still get calls from them every damned day.
Watch out for the things they don't tell you upfront.
Took forever from meeting with sales guy to job completion.
The guy that comes out to take the final measurements is not included in the cost of "the job".
No, that guy is an additional $350.00 tacked onto the bill.
I think that for the outrageous price that the measurements should be part of the deal.
But measurements are not.
Two days before scheduled install my boyfriend called and asked if we need to take down the existing blinds.
He was told that the installers would take them down.
What he was not told was that there would be a $100.00 per window charge to have the installers take the blinds down.
All the installers had to do was flip two little flaps per window up, remove blinds, reinstall blinds into original, existing brackets, close flaps on brackets. $100.00 each time they made those 4 moves.
They did not remove the brackets, so that tells me that the blinds were removed for their conveinance, not mine.
Then to top it all off, they charged $100.00 to remove and reinstall the blinds on a window that has not had blinds or the brackets installed for over a year.
I know because I am the one who took the blinds down along with the brackets.
We still don't have blinds installed for that window.
But we got charged $100.00 anyway.
We didn't get an itemized bill until my boyfriend asked for one.
He paid the bill off completely within the month after the install was complete but didn't get itemization until after bill was paid.
For 32000 dollars very unhappy
For 32000 dollars very unhappy. they came out and started taking out old windows. by that time they took windows out and I said they aren't white. they pried on j channel to get new windows and trim in. and had a contractor show up and had old windows sold before finishing installation. caulking around windows shows. they said we can paint windows but he didn't recommend. which we didn't want a bandaid on them. he took picks of the j channel miters no flush no more. it look terrible. he promised it would be fixed and caulking. took pics. guy shows up says we didn't do that nothing he can do about it. so cant give a review on windows yet. haven't had long enough. but please take pics of your windows and trim before they took it so you have proof they did do it. and see their shade samples because their white is not white its tan. lots of money paid to be jerked around and it looks terrible .. but hey he says it wont leak !!!!!
