A truly unique and deeply supportive approach to healing

If you are looking for a counselor who offers more than just a 'scripted' experience, I cannot recommend Daniel Bains highly enough. I came to Daniel struggling with the heavy weight of both grief and health anxiety, and his impact on my life has been a genuine turning point.
What makes Daniel stand out is his unique and authentic style, he has an incredible ability to make you feel completely heard and understood from the very first session. Daniel balances deep empathy with a supportive, intuitive guidance that feels natural rather than clinical.
Navigating grief is never easy, but Daniel provides a safe, steady space to process those emotions while giving you the tools to manage anxiety in a sustainable way. He is an exceptional professional who truly 'gets it.' If you’re searching for someone who is genuinely caring and provides a refreshingly personal approach to counselling, Daniel is the person to see.

I can only echo what others are saying…

I can only echo what others are saying about Dan. His approach is amazing and so down to earth. I felt unbelievably comfortable opening up to him from my very first session and he shone a light on how I was feeling and my thought processes. He managed to make me laugh when I was at my lowest ebb and made points that resonated with me all week long until the next session. I, like many others in these reviews would recommend him without question.

Incredible

I genuinely can’t express enough how grateful I am for the support I’ve received from Dan. From the very first session, I felt heard, understood and completely safe to open up (something that doesn’t come easily for me).

His approach is compassionate, patient and incredibly insightful. He had a way of gently challenging me while still making me feel supported, which has helped me grow in ways I didn’t think were possible. I’ve learned so much about myself and developed healthier ways of thinking and coping because of our work together.

What really stands out is how genuine and present he is in every session. I never felt judged, rushed or dismissed. Instead, I felt valued, respected and encouraged.

Reaching out for therapy can be daunting, but working with Dan has genuinely been one of the best decisions I’ve made for myself and my family. I would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone looking for a therapist who truly cares and makes a lasting difference.

Compassionate and down-to-earth

I spent 6 weeks with Dan. Dan isn't afraid to challenge your thinking and I felt like he really listened to me. He is a compassionate, honest and down-to-earth person. I'd definitely go back if I needed to.

Safe space to share and be vulnerable without judgement

As someone who found it hard to open up, Daniel created a safe space where I was able to share and be vulnerable without judgement. His supportive and gentle prompts helped me see a wider perspective and with guidance helped me slow down, ground myself and allow myself to be human without negatively judging myself anymore. This has helped in many aspects of my life, relationships with others and most importantly myself.

A very effective counsellor

After seeing a number of counsellors to help with anxiety/depression, I met with Dan in January 2025. I saw him about a dozen times and am now in a much better place. I found him to be very easy to talk to and very down to earth. He listened to and understood my situation from the start. I am very grateful for the help he gave me and would recommend him as an extremely affable and empathetic guy who got it absolutely right for me.

Understanding, open-minded, and holistic assistance

Over the past 4-5 months I have had counselling with Daniel, and would really recommend seeking help with him if it’s important to speak to someone who has an understanding of Asian culture, mental health, and has an open mind.

Having had counselling over a long period of time (though on and off) I have oftentimes struggled to connect with a counsellor, and I can honestly say that I was able to built a trusting relationship with Daniel, which benefitted me much more in the long run, and allowed me to see real results in my life.

For anyone looking to take that leap and look for help, I’d really recommend Daniel. His open, understanding, and organic approach to each session helps immensely, and allows for things to be addressed as and when they come up, as well as recognising wider patterns.

I have now been in therapy for about…

I have now been in therapy for about 7.5months. Therapy has completly changed my life. Through the help of Daniel and therapy I have been able to move on from my father's death that happened in 2022. My attitude towards people has improved, I have more positive self talks, I am able to assess situations before taking actions. My mental health has improved since therapy. I am able to take control of my own emotions, and instrusive thoughts. As a male I can now accept that due to ego and male stigma I did not want to ask for help but I am greatful I reached out to Daniel. Soon I will hold the key to my own mental health.

Improving quality of life

I found this support group after period of difficulty in my marriage. I can to Daniel seeking advice on how to improve my communication skills with my wife and generally open up about any trauma that I have gone through which was hindering my ability to move on with my life. Since seeking therapy, my life has changed for the better but in incremental phases, which is expected. I also have managed to open up since seeking therapy and be able to be more concise with my feelings something that I have struggled with in the past. Overall, I would highly recommend Realtalk, as it has had a significant improvement in my life.
