Golden Circle Direct Tour

My colleague and I visited Iceland for the first time and booked our trip through our travel agency, including the Golden Circle Direct Tour in mid-February.
We are giving four stars instead of five because the pickup information was incorrect. When we arrived at the pickup location about half an hour before departure, no one else was there, which seemed strange. The situation felt confusing, and about twenty minutes before departure we decided to call the helpline.
The support team did help us quickly and arranged a taxi so that we could still arrive on time and join the tour. We really appreciated that solution, as it allowed us to experience this beautiful tour after all.
Our guide Flossy and the driver Thommy did an excellent job. Flossy shared a lot of interesting information and explained everything in a very pleasant way. Thommy drove very well and we always felt safe.
So we are deducting one star because of the incorrect pickup information, but overall the tour was wonderful and we would definitely recommend it.

Stay Away!

I booked our tour through Icelandia which is another name this company seems to operate under.

Our tour experience was the only negative of 5 great days in Iceland. After being canceled twice in a row we were notified that the was on for our last night. It was cloudy and rainy in Reykjavik so I was very skeptical but at that point we had no choice but to go.

The email instructions were to arrive at the pickup location by 8:30 however the buses never left the parking lot until 9:15. After driving an hour we arrived at the location with about a dozen other buses who were all jammed into a small parking lot and could not turn around.

It was raining and cloudy when we got off it was obvious from the start that we were not going to see anything. After standing around for over an hour they herded everyone back onto to the buses to leave. At that point we had to wait for every other bus to leave before they could turn us around. It was well over midnight by then and we didn't get back until after 1am.

I requested a refund due to the overall poor quality of the experience and was told that since I stepped on the bus I was out of luck. Then they stopped replying to any future communications.

This company is disorganized, unprofessional and out to get your money. Do not ruin your night by using them.

Very, Very poor company

We didn't book the South Shores tour directly with Reykjavik Excursions, Tui placed us with them. We arrived at 8.20 for an 8.30 pick up. No minibus with Reykjavik Excursions arrived and no one called out our names. We approached some buses/ coaches but none were for us and please remember this was during the busiest part of the day when many, many buses/ coaches are arriving for tours and transfers. We phoned Reykjavik Excursions at 9.10, to be told their minibus had arrived at 8.27 and left at 8.33, that it is their company policy not to call out the names of customers and the minibus may have had other branding. They offered to rebook the next day, but that was no use as we were heading home then. So to summarise, they waited 3 minutes past the allotted pick up time, didn't call our names, didn't have Reykjavik Excursions branding on the minibus and left knowing they hadn't completed the pick up. Just as disappointing was Tui's response of complete disinterest. Then I looked into how Tui respond to customer complaints and it made sense, so I'm now taking Tui to ABTA and if that fails the small claims court. If you haven't read between the lines my advice would be to avoid Reykjavik Excursions at all costs.

Golden Circle and snowmobiling

We recently went on The golden circle and snowmobiling tour with Reykjavik Excursions (07.12.2025)
We were a group of four and had a fantastic time, our tour guide was Albert (Sigurdur Albert Armannsion) he was very knowledgeable about Iceland and pointed out lots of interesting facts along the way.
We stopped at Gulfoss waterfall then changed our coach for a monster truck which took us onto the glacier for the snowmobiling, this was definitely the highlight of the tour on the way back we stopped at the geyser. It was a good 10 hour day and would definitely recommend it.

Great experience

When recently in Iceland I took three tours with Reykjavik Excursions; South Coast Wonders, Northern Lights, and Golden Circle & Snowmobiling. I also booked my Sky Lagoon package through them. I would highly recommend this company to anybody who is looking to see Icalend. The knowledge of the tour guides was fantastic, with one focussing on Icelandic folklore and another on the science and geography of the land. I found we were given adequate time at each stop to experience them. The pickup and drop off option was brilliant, but even without pickup the main bus terminal was not too far away.

Northern Lights Tour

Although I appreciated the opportunity to see the northern lights, I was disappointed that the tour took us to a somewhat lit parking lot. The street lamps, city glow, and car lights made it very difficult to see the aurora with the naked eye, and I believe visibility would have been much better in a darker location.

We were told that this spot was chosen so we wouldn’t miss the lights, but we ended up waiting nearly two hours for any activity. During that time, we could easily have driven farther away from the city. I would have preferred if the guide had taken us to a darker, more remote area to improve visibility and give us the magical experience we paid for.

Instead, it felt a bit like, “Here you go—this will do,” as if they simply drove us 30 minutes out of the city to a parking lot and left us to it. It didn’t feel like aurora hunting at all.

With a bit more effort from the Reykjavík Excursions team to find a more suitable viewing spot, the experience would have been far more enjoyable.

Amazing Tour (Golden Circle Direct)

Myself and my partner did a Golden Circle Direct Tour on 18/11/2025. We had Ritchie Rich & Bartek as the Tour Guide and Driver, they were both great. Richie the Tour Guide was amazing, he offered so many quirky facts and key notes when passing near to landmarks and natural wonders. He was really engaging despite our tour bus being a quiet bunch. He played some really cool music both Icelandic and other Nordic/ Scandinavian tracks that really helped set the mood and help us unwind on our way to Reykjavik.

Overall, the tour was excellent. It was relatively cheap only costing me and my partner around £130 GBP which we booked through GetYourGuide (Highly recommend booking through there, they have plenty of discounts).

We saw the fault line / split in the tectonic plates first which was awesome, truly breath taking the surrounding areas too including the lake.

Then we went onwards to the Geysir, which was breath-taking for the views and sights of the bubbling pools, but also due to the puffs of steam and sulfur.

The last stop was to Gullfoss, which despite being really busy with tourists. It was truly out of this world, considering it was really cold too, the waterfall looked as though it had frozen in places and it is really something everyone should see.

To sum it is was well worth the money. The trip lasted more than 7 hours, and although we spent less than an hour at most stops, it was enough to really get a feel for each natural wonder.

5/5 - Would do again.

Perfects tours for perfects memories

I went to Reykjavik a few weeks ago (mid-september) and I booked all my tours with RE. And it was a blast. The guides were really nice. I did a Northern Lights Tour on a cloudy day, but they looked the meteo to find the perfect moment and the perfect place where the clouds will fades. And we saw a beautiful aurora. And the guide explained very well that we won't be able to see the colors of the aurora, and how to see them (by taking pictures). We also booked the Golden Circle tour and the Blue Lagoon and everything went perfectly fine. I highly recommand Reykjavik Excursions.

Northern lights tour. Watch out!

I did a northern lights tour in Reykjavik and i know that northern lights cant be garanteed. But the forecast was ‘high’ ( scale: 7 out of 9 ) , you can check a forecast site and you have to be in a location where there are no clouds and no lightpolution.
While there were unclouded areas near by reykjavik , RE guides choose to drive for only 25 min to a clouded parkinglot, with a lof of lightpolution from cars on a nearby road and streetlights. There were 2 little openings in the sky which closed after some while. The northern lights were there but behind the clouds. Not to be seen. A big bummer, a lot of people were disappointed and the guides didnt care. The busdriver even reacted rude when i dared to ask if there was a restroom on board. I put in a written complaint and i got my money back from RE. Through the years I ve done several northern light tours in Reykjavik and i was surprised that this tour was on that night while other buscompanies cancelled. It is a lazy easy money making tour. And i hate the fact that customers are being fooled like this. So be aware!

Horrible customer service

My daughter (18yrs) took a trip to Þórsmörk and her sleeping bag and blanket is ruined by fuel/water leak in the luggage hold after passing the river. The Company refuses to take any responsibility for these matters and it is impossible to talk with them personally. Really bad customer service. I can not recommend this Company.

Friendly and Professional Flybus Driver

I had a great experience with Carol, the Flybus driver in Iceland. He was incredibly friendly, professional, and made the ride smooth and comfortable from start to finish. His welcoming attitude and clear communication helped everyone feel at ease, even in the cold Icelandic weather!
Carol handled the route efficiently and with care, ensuring all passengers were dropped off safely and on time. It’s always a pleasure to encounter such dedicated and kind service during travel.
Thank you, Carol, for making the ride a warm and positive part of the journey!

Robert the driver and Eric the guide…

Robert the driver and Eric the guide were both absolutely amazing. Eric was funny, his knowledge of Iceland was fantastic and he took really good care of us all. We went on the Golden Circle and tomato farm tour visiting Gullfoss, Geiser and saw other fabulous views along the way. The road conditions were poor and it was very windy but Robert the driver made sure that we were safe and we got back to the hotel at 4.30pm. Eric and Robert deserve a rise they were incredible.

Avoid this tour company

We booked a tour via Viator which was delivered by Reykjavik Excursions. At the bus stop for pick up there were in excess of 30 people all waiting for different tours. We received no information relating to the specific bus that would pick us up and we were not advised that the driver does not call out the booking names and makes no attempt to check if travellers booked for the trip are waiting.
The tour of the Golden circle tour involves a number of specific venues, but it is a very long day, with a lot of travelling. The woman leading the tour had a monotone voice and bored us for hours with insignificant uninteresting information, very little information was provided on the actual sights we visited. All in all the tour was very poorly delivered and marred our experience of Iceland. I would definitely not recommend this company. My advice would be to book tour via the local tourist information offices.

This tour was excellent

This tour was excellent, the tour guide was very informative and told us lots of stories about the history of Iceland. The actual tour itself was breath-taking, I was in awe of the sights and beauty this country had to offer. I would definitely recommend this trip to people of all ages.

Unorganised & unprepared

Unorganised, rude & unprepared. first the busses came too late. The getting on the bus was a horribly chaotic process. After a short drive we stopped and they showed us a faint white light that was only visible with long exposure photo’s. Than we went too our first bathroom stop that we couldn’t use because we stopped for too long at the faint white light. When we went further we kept driving towards the clouds, when i went to the driver and told him that for the past four days there were sightings down south, he said ‘we can’t control the weather’ so i told him that you can control your due dilligence and control
where you drive too. Thats when he told me off and basically said that it was ‘too bad’ and when another family came to him with the same question he told them off aswell.
Furthermore there was no usefull information told and our guide was masking it with jokes.

They show you faint white lights with a long exposure picture so you can’t ask for your money back… i would suggest too rent a car or book a private tour with a guide that might listen and know when to admit they made a mistake.

I AM NOT BLAMING THEM FOR NOT SEEING IT BECAUSE OF THE CLOUDS! The problem is that they could’ve used sattelite pictures too choose a better route.
