Rainbow Crate is Awful

Rainbow Crate is awful. I spent $130 on a Themed Box and the books were damaged. When I sent them back they sent me an unprotected box that was badly damaged. They refused to accommodate and instead claimed the themed box wasn't part of the purchase and didn't qualify for a refund. They now post in their description that the themed box is just for shipping AFTER arguing with me about MY product. That is fraud. Updating your product after receiving complaints so that you can claim that you followed guidelines is fraud. (Especially when you don't correct your mistake or offer reimbursement to the customers. I have never experienced such poor customer service with any other company. Do not buy from them, do not produce art for them.
Ask other customers, many have also had bad experiences you wont learn about until you become one like I unfortunately did.

Avoid like the plague

I would NOT recommend purchasing anything from Rainbowcrate, and I created a Trustpilot account just to warn any readers of how terrible a company they are to deal with (especially when you run into any issues, and there WILL be issues).

They sent out thousands of special edition pre-orders with incorrect, misprinted dust jackets and made no effort to protect the themed boxes which were part of the special edition set. Everyone received ruined boxes covered in shipping stickers, rips, dents, etc.

I also saw many complaints on social media of people receiving damaged books due to the poor packaging and Rainbowcrate’s responses refusing to send them replacements. These books are NOT cheap!

It was the bare minimum of Rainbowcrate to offer to send corrected replacement dust jackets to affected customers, but then they messed up the customs forms and all international buyers were forced to either pay upwards of $50 in customs fees to receive their “free” replacements, or send the order back and wait another 6 months for new ones to be sent with the correct customs forms.

Rainbowcrate ghosted all communications during this time period despite waiting their allotted 5 business days between emails that they promise on their own website to respond within. I finally received a response where they shifted all blame on their printing company instead of taking any accountability and did not even acknowledge that they refused to communicate for 6 months.

Upon receiving the re-replacement dust jackets, the reprints are AGAIN misprinted with bland, desaturated colouring, including their own rainbow logo! I reached out to Rainbowcrate to request another reprint as the replacements were obviously not satisfactory. I received no response within their timeline of 5 business days and reached out again. They finally replied and basically told me to kick rocks. They offered me the following “resolutions”:

1.) I can just accept that the special edition set of books I paid over $188 CAD for have misprinted dust jackets with incorrect information on them, due to their error.
2.) I can just accept that the special edition set of books I paid over $188 CAD for have misprinted dust jackets with incorrect, desaturated colouring, due to their error.
3.) I can return the books for a refund and just forfeit ever owning the special edition set, due to their error.
All options provided result in Rainbowcrate refusing to take accountability for yet another misprint on their end and no actual resolution for the customer who forked over a significant amount of money for this product.

Just absolutely pathetic customer service and incredibly poor quality products. Based on Rainbowcrate’s past actions, I don’t trust them to actually issue me a refund once these books leave my hands so I’ll keep them as a reminder that just because a company flouts themselves as “small, queer-owned” doesn’t inherently make them a good company to support. Rainbowcrate is just another corrupt Amazon Jr taking advantage of their customer base on a smaller scale.

Not worth supporting

Packed my books badly and refused to replace them despite every corner being smashed. When asked around multiple people are saying they have the same experience.

Their customer service is horrendous and unprofessional. I actually never had as bad of a experience with any book box.
