Review summary

Based on reviews, created with AI

Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the customer service, finding it unhelpful, difficult to reach, and often scripted, leading to unresolved issues. Customers frequently reported problems with unexpected and increased charges, with some feeling trapped by escalating subscription costs after initial rates. The service itself was often criticized for being inefficient, with persistent pop-up ads and frequent, unhelpful interface changes. Many users found the pricing to be excessive, especially for essential services, and felt that the company did not prioritize the financial health of small businesses. The user experience was also a common point of frustration, with reports of slow performance, inability to customize reports, and difficulties with basic navigation.

quickbooks is Garbage

I work for a managed service provider and dozens of our clients use Quickbooks. It is the most garbage piece of trash software. Extremely problematic, all sorts of weird ridiculous issues and the comedy of it all is when I get QB support on the phone, they are equally confused at the absurdity of the issue. Never ever use this garbage.

One glitch after another

Quickbooks desktop version was great and easy to use. Now I pay 10X more for a much worse product with Quickbooks online. If you can choose something else, do it. We have a farm corporation. I think I will go back to doing everything by hand. It would be easier than using Quickbooks online.

Advertised Price changes Rapidly!!!

Quickbooks subscription pricing increases consistently by roughly $5/month or $60/yr, each and every year. Completely irresponsible and unreasonable for conducting professional business. Not a single B2B would ever consider yearly increases if they wanted to keep accounts, yet quickbooks has no problem doing it to individuals with small businesses! I paid for a new service of billing as well since the last 2 times I billed clients through Quickbooks, my money was held for weeks at a time and I had to waste hours on the phone with customer support to receive MY payments, while they claimed they needed to authenticate the payments were fraudulent! This is after years with an account and billing through them without issue. It doesn't take weeks to verify a user and certainly does not need to happen with every payment processed! Incredibly poor oversight from organizational leaders! I would not recommend this service to anyone!

Review for QuickBooks Merchant Services

I am a small business owner operating a junk removal and dumpster rental company. I used QuickBooks Merchant Services to invoice customers and collect payment before services were rendered.

In November 2025, a customer committed fraud by using multiple different credit cards across several transactions. QuickBooks later confirmed this activity but has no system in place to flag or prevent it.

After receiving chargebacks, I was advised by QuickBooks support to enroll in Chargeback Protection and was explicitly told that any disputes received after enrollment would be covered. Based on that information, I continued using the service.

Despite Chargeback Protection being active, additional chargebacks were received and QuickBooks denied coverage, stating—after hours on hold and multiple transfers—that protection is based on the transaction date, not the dispute date. This limitation is not clearly disclosed in the Chargeback Protection terms, and no one could provide written documentation to support this interpretation.

Customer service was extremely poor, escalation was impossible, and the outcome was significant financial loss despite completed, legitimate services.

Bottom line:
QuickBooks Merchant Services offers inadequate fraud prevention, sells Chargeback Protection with unclear terms, and provides no meaningful resolution when fraud occurs. This platform is high risk for service-based businesses that rely on card-not-present payments.

I would not recommend QuickBooks Merchant Services to contractors or small business owners.

QuickBooks/Intuit Payments accepted a…

QuickBooks/Intuit Payments accepted a $30,000 American Express deposit for our customer, then placed the funds on hold for “up to 180 days.” The cardholder’s side showed the transaction as normal, but Intuit would not release the payout, would not escalate the case, and would not provide written documentation explaining the hold or what specific steps would resolve it. This created a serious situation with our customer and our sales agreement. Extremely disappointing experience for a business that needs reliable payment processing. Get away from this company

QuickBooks is a nightmare for new S-Corp owners.

I am currently locked out of my account because their "automated" system defaulted my 2FA to a business line that doesn't accept SMS.

Even after submitting my government-issued photo ID and articles of incorporation through their "Recovery Form," I received a generic, robotic rejection stating they "couldn't validate ownership." There is zero human support, no one to speak to, and the "Account Recovery" process is a broken script that doesn't account for actual business reality.

I have a corporate payroll deadline and a bank loan verification on the line, and Intuit’s "trash" support is effectively holding my business hostage. If you are starting a new company, find a software provider that actually has humans who can solve security glitches. Disgusting and incompetent.

OMG QB you suck

OMG QB you suck every "update" you change everything and it is a game of hide and seek to find what I am looking for. I don't care about the trendy little icons you have added. Whats next will I get a year in review?? ( I should not have said that now they will find a way to get another $8.57/ month more out of me)
I especially hate how the AI pre matches transactions it is always wrong. The old way was bad but man wtf? It's like they put no thought into it at all.
So if someone here reads this review I would suggest you look for another brand of software.

This company is horrible and people…

This company is horrible and people need to lose their jobs. My dad was charged $1,900 when he was quoted $257. My dad called them to tell them and they refunded his money to the wrong account and told my dad they couldn't reverse the refund. These people are incompetent and they don't care that that they screw people over. My dad was a customer with them for 22 years and now he's done with them.

Do not use quickbooks

Do not use quickbooks. I'm a general contractor and my estimates are often 10+ pages. This takes hours and hours to put together. On several occasions I'll be two hours in and go to save or print and guess what...there is a system error or some other reason it won't let me print or save my work!

A contractor sent me a payment/invoice

A contractor sent me a payment/invoice. "after" quickbooks took all my bank information, then and only then did a payment pop up. When I highlighted the payment to change the amount I was to pay. I got an "instant" thanks for your payment. WHAT!!!. i never hit approved, I never hit submit. Quickbooks instantly took nearly $7,000 from my account. I was paying $1000.00 No customer support. No way to stop the transaction. Complete nightmare.

This is nothing more than a Scam…

This is nothing more than a poorly coded scam. They steal money from small businesses and provide a platform and customer service department that is unable to explain anything. There's plenty of hyperlinks that go to nothing. If I worked for Intuit I would be ashamed. I cancelled my service for both of my businesses and I will never use an Intuit product either personally or professionally again.

We have been fighting with QB Intuit for 2 months about authentication. We've been using them for 15 years with minimal issues, till this year. They are the epitome of unprofessional. Customer service has no idea what they're doing, including the CEO, CFO, assistance.... Mind blowing, to say the least. We will definitely be canceling them... STAY AWAY

Quickbooks Full Service Accounting

I rarely write reviews, but my experience with QuickBooks Live Bookkeeping’s Clean-Up Service was frustrating enough to warrant one. The bookkeepers I interacted with were polite and seemed eager to help, but the overall service was a disappointing mess — literally and financially.

Despite the “full-service” promise, I was passed from person to person throughout the process. Each new contact seemed to start from scratch, asking for the same information and documents I’d already submitted. There was no continuity or transparency, and no opportunity to speak with the bookkeeper who actually made decisions about my accounts.

The final product was not a cleanup — it was a QuickBooks disaster. Transactions were categorized nonsensically, and the logic behind their decisions was impossible to follow. Instead of having cleaner books, I now face the added workload of untangling and redoing what was done.

To make matters worse, the cleanup process stretched out over many weeks, even though I consistently responded to every question and document request within just a few days. During that time, I was told not to make any updates to my books, effectively freezing my operations. The so-called “free month of full-service bookkeeping” that was supposed to let me assess the ongoing service was completely used up by the initial cleanup delay — leaving no chance to actually evaluate what I was paying for.

For the significant price of this service, I expected expertise and efficiency. Instead, I paid an outrageous sum for confusion, wasted time, and additional work. If you’re considering QuickBooks Live Bookkeeping, especially the clean-up package, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

Formal Complaint — QuickBooks Online Advanced Formal Complaint Regarding Removal of Custom-Field Reporting, Forced Expanded Report Views, and Unannounced Functional Changes

To Whom It May Concern,

I am submitting a formal complaint regarding recent changes made to QuickBooks Online Advanced that have materially disrupted our operations and significantly reduced the functionality of the product we pay for each month.

1. Removal of Custom-Field Capability in Summary Reports

The decision to remove custom-field filtering from multiple summary reports—without any announcement, notice, or transition period—has eliminated essential reporting functionality. These custom fields were core to our workflow, and their sudden disappearance has forced us into far less efficient detailed reports.

As paying customers, we should not experience feature removal without documentation or advance communication. Silent changes undermine trust and create operational issues that could have been avoided with proper notice.

2. Forced Use of Detailed Reports & No Auto-Collapse Setting

Because summary reports can no longer use custom fields, we are now required to use detailed reports. However:

QuickBooks Online Advanced does not allow reports to open in a collapsed view,

Reports now default to fully expanded,

And there is no global collapse-all function.

For businesses with hundreds of customers, products, or lines, this results in excessive manual work every time a report is generated. Having to collapse each item individually is not viable, and it significantly slows down processes that were once efficient.

3. Custom Fields Cannot Auto-Populate From Customer Records

Despite being promoted as a customizable system, QuickBooks Online Advanced still does not allow custom fields from customer records to automatically populate on invoices or other sales forms. This is a fundamental capability expected in modern accounting software. The lack of integration forces manual data entry, increases the risk of error, and contradicts the purpose of maintaining structured custom data.

4. Lack of Transparency in Feature Changes

The pattern of removing features, altering interface behavior, and limiting capabilities without prior notice presents a serious concern. Businesses must be informed when core functions are changed or removed. These are not minor adjustments; they materially impact how we operate.

Requested Actions

Restore or replace custom-field compatibility in summary reports.

Provide an option to default reports to collapsed view or a system-wide global “Collapse All” setting.

Allow custom fields on customer records to automatically map into invoices and other transaction forms.

Provide clear, advance communication before modifying, limiting, or removing existing features.

Respond with a written acknowledgement and outline of how these issues will be addressed.

QuickBooks Online Advanced is positioned as a premium-tier product; therefore, sudden reductions in functionality, hidden UI changes, and the removal of essential reporting features are unacceptable. These interruptions materially affect our daily work and need immediate correction.
