150 USD Down the Drain. Learn from My Mistake. Please.
I'm almost embarrassed to admit that I fell for this classic scam. I figured it was a legit operation since the domain has been up for well over a year—no way has it operated that long without someone calling it out, right?
Well, upon visiting the website, I was greeted with a virtual chat agent who promptly answered all of my questions regarding the proxies and assured me that they were legit. They won my trust, and in my desperation, I went against my gut and sent them $150 through Paypal Friends & Family in exchange for the “specially discounted” TEAM plan. After that was when it all went downhill. In the days following my payment it was impossible to get a hold of anyone. When I finally did get a reply from the virtual chat agent, they would only reply with ‘Payment received, we’re activating your account.’ This went on for days with no actual activation of services taking place. When I finally confronted the chat agent as to why my account wasn’t being activated, they simply stopped replying.
It’s unclear to me if this website was recently compromised and was a formally legit service, or if it was a scam from the start, because there are 404’s and broken image links all over the place. In any case, please learn from my mistake, don’t ignore the red flags and don’t get preyed upon. If it’s too good to be true, it probably really is.
EDIT: If anyone reading this fell to this scam like I did and paid through Paypal's Friends & Family, I encourage you to file a dispute with your bank and/or credit card issuer. You can usually do this directly through their website (easiest) or telephone and mail. Don't be discouraged from filing a dispute if the transaction occurred long ago; simply make your case to your bank and and they will handle the matter with Paypal, and you *will* get your money back. If you paid with other payment methods however, I'm afraid you'll have to do some digging to see if there's anything you can do. Good luck!
EDIT 2: No actual account activation has taken place as of the seller's response. It's abundantly clear that this website is just a sockpuppet intended to distance you from your money. Even if the seller actually wanted to legitimately give you proxies, I'm not sure they actually could. I repeat, there is no evidence of the seller having any sort of proxies to sell you, even if they wanted to. Steer clear!
