Do not use Progressive.

Do not use Progressive.

My claim experience was delay, deny, ignore. The handling was disorganized and showed minimal demonstrated knowledge of the file facts, even after I provided documentation and asked basic questions.

People involved included David Aden, Cory McCune, Shaun Kitsuda, Steve Shinn.

After the denial, I submitted additional documentation and requested reconsideration, including new information that went directly to causation. I asked for three basic things: acknowledgment of receipt, a real investigation of the new information, and a written supplemental determination addressing it. Instead, I was repeatedly redirected back to the original denial without meaningful engagement on the new evidence.

Here is why this matters. Even though adjusters are often described as not being paid per denial, claims operations are widely evaluated on performance metrics and cost outcomes, and there are public discussions of bonus and review criteria tied to savings and claim handling results. That incentive structure helps explain why a policyholder can feel processed and shut down rather than investigated.

My experience matched the classic delay deny defend playbook. If you expect organized, good faith claim handling when it matters, avoid Progressive.

I have been with this nightmare of a…

I have been with this nightmare of a company for several years. They automatically added my ex-wifes new husband to my policy which screwed it all up. They are stealing more money from me and added someone without my knowledge. They are unwilling to help their loyal customers. I will be switching asap. If you'relooking for insurance, I would look elsewhere.

Unsatisfactory Help F

We talked to a representative named Daniel. This gentleman did not help one bit. When asked a question, he would just respond with a “you can choose”. When asked why our policy went up, he answered “because that’s the new cost”. Any question we asked, he just responded with the most generic and non-helpful answers. We asked to talk to someone else to help with changing our policy and he proceeded to transfer us to the wrong department. Would not recommend this customer service if they are anything like Daniel

I was in a car accident on January 9

I was in a car accident on January 9. I immediately called progressive to tell them about the accident. I told them where I would like to have my car worked on. Progressive said they would get my car towed to that location and have an adjuster come out to view the vehicle. Three weeks passed by with no information regarding my car. I looked at the GPS tracker on my vehicle and it was showing it was still at the tow lot. I called progressive and she said she was under the assumption that my body shop was calling for the tow. After all of this, I never heard from that girl again and was switched to a new insurance adjuster who was not aware of any of this after this my car sat on top of the toe for two additional days because of lack of communication between progressive and my body shop. I had no rental car service under my policy, so I asked the day of my wreck. How long I should rent a vehicle for? She told me they usually have the Customer’s car back within three weeks business days. Well now we are at four weeks and my car is just getting an estimate because they decided to not tow my vehicle to the body shop. Progressive is fighting with me on extending the rental under their cost. They told me it is out of their hands, and I am responsible for paying my rental and the deductible. I will be shopping elsewhere and I will be blasting them on every review site. Please be aware and do not use them. I’ve had three insurance adjusters reach out to me in the matter of four weeks. Seems to me they have a very high turnover rate in the lack of communication and professionalism is not there.

This company is a freaking nightmare.

This company is a freaking nightmare.

A large structure fell on my car because of the weather. Began filing a claim. Took pictures, sent them in, spoke to a rep on the phone. This was the end of the smooth sailing.

I gave them all my information and explained the situation. The rep put me on hold for 1 hour 12 minutes. I hung up and called back. They answered like they had no idea who I was. Gave them my info again. They said they'd put me on priority to have my car picked up.

Day came and went. No one picks up the car.

I call back. They tell me to call some other number. I call that number, who then tells me to call yet another number. I call that number. I'm put on hold for 1 hour 5 minutes. This business closed and everyone went home leaving me on hold.

The following week, thankfully, someone finally picked up my car. I called Progressive to ask the next steps. They said they need a "power of attorney" from me.

A what now? Huh? Why??

Then they said they'd put me over to Doug. What?? Doug who?? The line starts ringing, and I get "the person you're calling is not available, leave a message". Welp... now my entire process is stuck until this Doug guy returns my message. At least it didn't say "mailbox full, goodbye".

We were never told a "power of attorney" would ever be needed prior to just now, and it makes me wonder how many other hidden steps there are. It also makes it seem like every other step from here on out is going to be an uphill battle. There could be 12 other documents we weren't told about, and Tim, Josh, and Roy, whoever they are, are people we'll have to call and HOPE they get back to us so we can proceed.

I'm going to be looking into some other insurance after this. This whole thing was handled so unprofessionally.

My roommate us not even a driver on my policy. I no longer have insurance with progressive. STAY AWAY

I'm with Flo

Progressive is preferred and truly covers the client. For those of you who post negative reviews, just are upset things didn't work in your favor. Insurance company's have an obligation to follow. Not your favors.

raised prices 2nd month in

We just switched to progressive because they gave us a lower home insurance quote , but guess what - the second month in they increase our price $60 a month which makes any savings negligible. What a fraud. Don’t sign up with them! Will be looking for a new insurance who’s honest. Does that exist?

They stole money from us. Took 1700$ out of our account stating they didnt recieve documents on time, they were uploaded in time, but multiple reps/supervisors from progressive say since the documents weren't uploaded on time even though they have them now. Again, say they dont have to refund us.

Progressive is generally a good insurer BUT…

Progressive is generally a good insurer for my multiple-car auto policy. However, I canceled one of my 3 cars' policy as the car was sold. I had a 6-month comprehensive policy that cost many hundreds for that one car. I canceled with 4 months left on the 6-month policy. They gave me a $9 credit!!!!!!! for 4 months left! Not much else to say... Well, I will say insulting!

I had an unexpected and disappointing…

I had an unexpected and disappointing experience with Progressive when trying to make a simple change to my auto insurance policy.

In January 2026, I updated my policy through the Progressive app to replace my previous vehicle with a different one that was older, less valuable, and generally cheaper to insure. I assumed this would either lower my monthly premium or at least keep it roughly the same. Instead, the app generated a noticeably higher monthly quote, which immediately raised concerns.

To understand why the cost increased, I contacted customer support through the in-app chat. Rather than receiving a clear explanation, the representative adjusted the premium again — this time increasing it further — without walking me through any specific changes, risk factors, or coverage differences that justified the new price.

What frustrated me most was not just the price, but the interaction itself. The responses felt rushed and dismissive, and instead of reviewing options or trying to resolve the issue, I was effectively told that if I didn’t like the price, I should contact another agent or look elsewhere for insurance.

So I did exactly that.

Within a short amount of time, I obtained the same level of coverage from another major insurer at a lower monthly rate. The contrast in clarity and professionalism was striking.

This experience left me with the impression that pricing lacked transparency and that customer concerns were not taken seriously. I understand that insurance rates can change for many reasons, but those reasons should be communicated clearly and respectfully — especially to existing customers making routine policy updates.

Unfortunately, Progressive did not meet that expectation in this case.

This company truly is the worst company…

This company truly is the worst company to use. Sure their prices are great but when it comes to claims they don't even care what the police say. They don't check police reports or anything like that they just want to deny you. This really is the worst company ever. My daughter had an accident The police report showed it wasn't her fault but the adjuster said he didn't need pictures and he didn't need info from the police report. Automatic fault. Their whole point is to reclaim the money that they're giving you and then they jack up your insurance. This is a standard with them. Terrible buyer beware

insurance companies suck

Did not realize if somebody does a hit and run. Insurance companies do not cover unless you have full coverage. With out other the other person involved. You end up having to pay for the repairs.

Progressive Tried to Overcharge — I Switched to Geico

⭐☆☆☆☆

On 01/21/2026, I used the Progressive app to change the vehicle on my policy from a BMW X5 (which I was paying $110/month for) to a 2WD Ford truck. The automated system initially quoted $125/month — which already seemed high for a less expensive vehicle to insure.

I initiated a chat through the app to clarify, and the agent increased the quote by $41 more per month without offering a clear explanation. The agent’s tone was rude and dismissive, and instead of helping find a fair solution, she told me to contact my local agent or try getting cheaper insurance elsewhere.

That’s exactly what I did, and within minutes I secured the same coverage through Geico for only $99/month.

This experience felt like an attempt to overcharge me, and it showed a lack of transparency, fairness, and respect for loyal customers. I expect honest pricing and professional service from any insurer — Progressive failed to deliver on both during this interaction.

If I could give zero stars

If I could give zero stars, I would.
After 18 years of loyalty to Progressive Insurance, I am finally done. Instead of my rates going down, they continue to go up, and the entire experience has gone downhill.
The adjusters are dishonest, inexperienced, and do not communicate. Because of constant miscommunication and lack of professionalism, nothing gets resolved properly. Customer service, adjusters, and even supervisors are rude, dismissive, and clearly do not care about losing long term customers.
I’ve been a loyal customer who stayed with the same company for nearly two decades, and this is how that loyalty is treated. They do not deserve my business anymore, and I am officially taking my coverage elsewhere.
I do NOT recommend Progressive to anyone. Don’t waste your time or money. This is coming from someone who truly believed in staying loyal to one company for a long time but loyalty means nothing to them.

I spoke with Marion Brakefield the…

I spoke with Marion Brakefield the Progressive representative. I am a military service member, just came back from my long deployment abroad to the mainland and I needed an insurance for my car. I was a Progressive client many years ago before my deployment, sonI decided to choose Progressive again. The website gave me an error when I tried to get a quote for the zip code of my military base in Fort Riley KS. Than I contacted their representative Marion Brakefield, and he just kicked me back and stopped responding. Very disrespectful and disappointing. So I decided to go to another insurance company.
