The kits are nice for beginers. The regular kits are a little cheap material but it is nice to have the right amount of material to tie up some flies etc. The one start is for a couple of reasons. 1.... See more

Tying boxes and service have gone down hill
I only gave PF 2 stars because they’re kits are good. However, ever since the company was acquired by “Catch Co” it has gone down hill. I order 3 fly tying kits a month, one for each species, and they stopped including tippet for the flies and the “high quality gear” has gone down significantly as well (last month I got a soft sunglasses case, which was a repeat). The cost is the sam at almost $30/box, but the quality has gone down. I have reached out a number of times about this and have received no reply. So again, the kit and newsletter are good, the rest is garbage for $30/box.

6+ year client and cancelled in a flash...
Update 2023- Postfly reached out and said they'd give a 30% discount. Just a note that the early followers and supporters paid about 60% less than current pricing so to be given that offer was a slap in the face. (PS - They run 30% off specials quite frequently.) I sadly cancelled and guess what...? A few months later the "CEO" emails an apology email to his customers essentially stating his path he was taking the company wasn't profitable and was trying to earn back loyal clients that they completely disregarded in trying to scale and go public. Not to say I was happy to see that, but karma is real and it's just a bummer to see it all come full circle since the small company trying to make waves and support the fly-fishing community got too big and greedy for their britches and left their loyal customers in the dust and now it's coming back to bite them.
've been a monthly subscriber since 2016! I've had another subscription in place since 2018 as well and have bought over a dozen plus subscriptions since 2016. I totally fell in love with the company and their product, and the passion about fly fishing. It seemed that the company was really pushing fly fishing and was a great deal. Slowly it started to change and the founder seemed to be money driven (taking investor funding, etc...). The company started to become less authentic and things became more corporate. I get a company needs to make money, but the last straw for me was cancelling both my subscriptions WITHOUT notice. I reached out to the company and they said they aren't 'grandfathering any past customers', but 'could offer a discount of 20%!'. Such a slap in the face. Cut out all your loyal customers that have been paying you for years, and then just cut them out with no notice? I feel like a break up happened as my brother and I looked forward to getting that box every month, but now that 6 year tradition is over. With their prices as high as they are now, it's not worth it the product in my opinion. I'd recommend finding another company that values their clients and isn't all about the money.

Saltwater beware
Saltwater boxes do not come with all items listed on packing card and do not expect a Trout Unlimited subscription. When asked about both the response was “I don’t know why that happens” and “sorry we ran out.” Not all boxes are curated equally I guess, kind of a bummer. With at least one item missing from each box, I will probably end my subscription after receiving the last box in my 3 month subscription.
Update 8/25: still have not been contacted by postfly.
Update 8/31: still no reply or follow-up as stated in their reply. Will not order again. Just go out and support your local fly shop.

3 months and every time they send me…
3 months and every time they send me cloth sunglasses cases lol? The instructional video for last month's fly tying kit is still not posted to YouTube and this is the case every month? Why send out the kits without the video for weeks? They are just throwing these together without much thought and sending them out half butted. I just cancelled my subscription

I insanely love my Postfly box
I insanely love my Postfly box. It's so much fun to get this thing every month. And I'd quickly tire of it if it was all flies, but it's all the accessories and tools that I actually need. I can't believe I got a headlamp and a cell phone tether in there. Both things are things I was actively shopping for, and getting them in my box absolutely thrilled me. I love the little lifestyle things like stickers too. I'm a raving fan.
Goods not received pt 3
Almost one year later…
After writing a review I did receive an email stating Postfly would send out my two missing fly kits and refund me. I have been waiting since January 10th for that. I have not received any response to my email. I am very surprised with the poor service and lack of response.
Ordered a 3 month pre-paid subscription on 8/31, I received a kit in September and haven’t received anything since. I reached out on 11/5 and was told it would be shipped by 11/20, nothing received. I reached out 12/11 with no response, then again on 12/23 and was told it would be shipped the following Monday, still have yet to receive the rest of my subscription. So here I am hoping to get what I paid for the only way left, by writing a bad review.

Low quality synthetic materials for Saltwater Tying Box
I got the Saltwater Tying Box.
What I was hoping to get:
A modest amount of decent tying materials to keep my fly boxes full and supplement my material inventory without having to go to the fly shop once every few weeks.
An introduction to some different patterns.
What I got:
First Kit: Clouser Minnow.
A good amount of materials, but they were all synthetic, and not what you would typically use.
I am used to tying Clousers with bucktail bodies, the kit came with some synthetic bucktail, but the top/ typically colored portion (in the kit) was ultra-thin plastic fiber. It doesnt behave anything like bucktail.
The example clouser sent along with the kit didnt really look like a clouser.(edited after looking at the example fly again) All the materials were tied in wrapped around the hook shank, the dumbbell eyes were essentially tied right on top of the hook eye. It looks like a white and blue pencil.
The thread was also really cheap, and broke on me several times when tying.
TLDR:
Pros: Materials came with a variety of colors and everything I needed to tie something like the example fly.
Cons: Low quality synthetic materials means I'm not really tying a clouser and I'm not really learning how to handle bucktail.
Example fly was poor quality.
Thread was poor quality.
Im going to see what the next kit brings, but all in all, you would be better off buying materials from a local fly shop and watching the Lefty Kreh Clouser video on youtube.
Keeping the Upper Hand
I’ve been very happy with the interaction with Postfly, they’ve answered all my questions and it was a nice touch to get a response from Brian Runnals, Founder & CEO and I get fast and courteous service when I call in.
As I enjoy Bass/Striper/Trout fishing and they were able to configure my box’s to my interest as I move thru the season. I’m enjoying the fly’s and gadget’s that come with the subscriptions. I hate to say this but, fishing camp is coming up and I won’t tell them about Postfly so I can keep the upper hand……there will be plenty of opportunities after fish camp to send them a subscription as gratitude for time together well spent.
Can’t wait for my Saltwater selection to come in this month, tis the season!
Tight Lines,
Glenn

Post fly fly tying kits are wonderful
Post fly fly tying kits are wonderful. It is a great way to get you into fly tying and the videos are excellent. Thanks
What I needed when I needed it.
As a very new fly fisherman I was pleasantly shocked when my first box arrived and had the exact two tools I was looking to buy.
The selection of flies has been great every month (I even managed to catch a fish or two with them and that’s saying a lot at my current skill level).
New Fly Angler, Great product!
I got into fly fishing within the past year, Postfly Box has quickly become one of my favorite products. Getting new Flys every month is great, but what I really love most is all the awesome gear! So far this year I already got what became my new favorite beanie, and my new favorite pair of pliers! Highly recommended to any new or experienced fly angler who loves getting new gear.
No tight lines here…..
I placed an order on April 2nd and an order on April 3rd, shipping confirmations were received on April 4th. On April 12th I emailed after not receiving the packages. It took 3 days to receive a response, at which point they apologized and told me they would send my orders out. On April 18th I received one of the orders but not the other, again I contacted Postfly, again it took days to hear back from them. When they did respond they again apologized and said they would send the items out. I received another shipping confirmation but again never received the items. On the morning of April 28th I sent a third email inquiring about my items, and received a response on the afternoon of April 29th. This time Cam told me he was going to fully refund my money and on Monday (May 2nd) was going to pack the order himself and send it out via UPS and contact me. Well it is 1108 PM on May 2nd and I have not heard from Cam, and I have only been refunded for some of the order that I have not received. I am not looking for free stuff, I am looking for the items I ordered or my money back, and it appears that Postfly can’t follow through with either.
Within minutes of my last email from Cam (on April 29th) I received a survey about how he performed. I waited until today to give them the benefit of the doubt to see if there was follow through and there wasn’t, so I filled out the survey, only to find out that my frustration is limited to 1000 characters and the survey couldn’t be accepted. Guess they really don’t care how their customers feel or how poorly their company is performing. I would reach out to them via phone, however the phone number listed in multiple spots on their website is no longer in service.
I have purchased a lot from Postfly over the years, but it is safe to say this will be my last order as their customer service has become a joke. To say that I am disappointed is an understatement. I will make sure that everyone I know avoids wasting their time with this company.
With all of this being said, if you are spending money to buy fishing gear this no longer seems like the place to do so.

Poor choice of fly patterns, sizes, and just about everything else
Month after month I receive flies that are basically the same as the month before. As for the swag, I now have 4 nail knot tying tools which are in fact are useless. They just sent me a box with size 8 copper johns, seriously? Has anyone at this company fly fished before?

Got my first box. Very disappointed in what I got! Maybe next month? Not ready to give up on them, yet.

Not worth the money for guide series box
Got the 3 month guide series box for trout. I gave it the 3 months to see if anything useful came. I received a lot of useless products that I would have never spent money on myself (sunglasses strap, rod sleeve, plastic water pouch). I never felt like the items in the box were actually valued at or above the $43 monthly that I was paying, and now I have a bunch of useless products that I will probably just give away. For as much as this box was hyped up and the promise of "name brand products" in every guide series, I am disappointed and I have canceled my subscription. The only redeeming quality was the monthly fly delivery that saved me a trip to the fly shop, but even the usefulness of their fly patterns remains TBD...

Pretty but disappointed…
Haven’t got to fish the rod yet. Received it a few days ago and removed the plastic cork cover that it is shipped with. Unfortunately after doing so I started to put the rod together. I spent $279 on this rod and it’s beautiful but this rod is more expensive than the Echo Glass rod offering and the Redington Butterstick. So when I noticed the alignment dots are way off between the tip and the attaching middle portion of the rod I was very upset. I know it isn’t a big deal and I can align the rod just fine without them it’s just frustrating. Again, I spent $279 on this rod and they didn’t even bother to make sure the alignment dots are correct. Also, because I removed the plastic off the cork I can no longer return it. Just frustrating. I have a wade rod co 7wt 9’ streamer express that is a good rod but this will likely be my last rod from them. It just rubs me the wrong way. Hope the rod fishes good. That would at least alleviate some of the frustration.

Updated please respond to emails
After having issues with the postal service. I have received my first two boxes today. I am very pleased with the items inside and will continue my subscription for the foreseeable future. The quality of items in the guide series box are top of the line and great for beginners and more experienced fishermen. The only reason I left 4 stars is I feel like Postfly should be easier to contact if an issue should arise.
