What an amazing business the best pet shop I have ever visited . On holiday in Keswick my 14 yr old terrier needed a harness after always using a slip lead, she is an awkward shape being lean and fit but lumpy and partially sighted and Ashley was superb giving us 5 choices before we found the ideal fit. Despite the shop being busy she never made us feel rushed was totally focused on what was right for my dog kept her in a quiet area and had super knowledge of not just the product range but dogs overall and what is best for our needs. I got a harness 2 leads and absolutely first class service and amazing choice. I will be back definitely worth the trip would highly recommend thanks a million Ashley! Xx

What an absolute gem we accidentally walked in while site seeing in Keswick and walked out with 2 supremely handsome kitted out bichons !!! Got the most brilliant body suits , rain jackets , harnesses and leads- specially adored the traffic leads with the multiple length settings and the poo bag holders! Loved it such a smashing collection we would drive down from scotland just to stock up for our dogs . Ashley was incredible

All weather choices. I would give the place 10 stars and even as we were wandering the market 3 people stopped and asked about where we got our dogs clothes and we sent them straight away to pp ! All doggy parents must make a trip to this simple unassuming but brilliantly stocked shop - our wee Teddy and Milo never looked this smart and comfy!

It has always been a delight to deal with Podgy Paws whether in the shop or ordering online & this time was no different except this time I ordered the wrong size by mistake but it was no problem. Podgy Paws soon had the correct size sent out with no fuss or ticking off. Excellent as always.

We visited this great little shop in June 2025. We have a large German Shepherd, who is quite reactive to strangers so we didn't take him in but the staff were so friendly and so helpful and were very happy for him to come into the shop early morning to avoid too much of a crowd to help fit him for one of their amazing rain coats. This is the only place that I have found that stocks dog coats that actually fit, usually the biggest you can find is 70-75cm. They stock up to 90cm. We ended up leaving without buying a coat, just because we ran out of time but I looked them up a few months later and was greeted with the same lovely customer service over email and phone and the lovely Alex helped us order the right size. For anyone not sure, I was going to order the 90cm after measuring but Alex assured me the 80cm would fit well, we went with her advice and it fits beautifully. The coat is a Fjord waterproof, the quality is brilliant and really is waterproof. Anyone looking for great advice or visiting Keswick and you have pets, make sure you visit this shop, they have absolutely everything.

Every holiday in Keswick we visit this wonderful pet store, loads of choice, friendly, knowledgeable staff, much, much better than the big chain pet stores.

Based on previous reviews we took an hour long trip with our dogs to buy new harnesses and winter coats. We were looking to spend a fairly considerable amount as we have four dogs. We arrived and were totally ignored by the staff who were just chatting . We stayed a while browsing the stock but in the end just decided to move on and buy elsewhere

We went to Podgy Paws to get new harnesses for our dogs. Ashley assisted us and made sure the dogs were comfortable and didn't get stressed. They loved every minute, especially the free treat!
The harnesses are great and I can highly recommend visiting this shop if you have any pet needs

We visited Podgy Paws to purchase a coat for our Fox terrier Elsie, she is nearly one & has a lifetime of adventure 🙏
Mandy was extremely helpful & professional. She knew exactly what we needed including a floatation vest as we are going to take her swimming in Cornwall.

We had been looking for a K9 Sport Sack for a while so we could take our dog Teddy with us on bike rides. On a recent trip to Keswick, we were really pleased to see that Podgy Paws stocked them. We called in to try them out and were looked after by Alex, who was absolutely amazing – so helpful and knowledgeable. Nothing was too much trouble. She patiently talked us through all the options, explained the differences, and even let us try the packs on for size to make sure we got the perfect fit for Teddy. Thanks to Alex’s advice, we left with the right choice and couldn’t be happier. Teddy’s first outing in the pack went really well, and we’re looking forward to using it on our trips away. Highly recommend Podgy Paws – fantastic service and a brilliant experience!

I ordered Rex specs for my Border Collie, Molly. She has been in a cone for 5 weeks due to a corneal ulcer. The ulcer is healed with scarring still to heal so I invested in Rex Specs goggles. They are more expensive than many others but are really worth the money. They are excellent quality with good shaping around the nose. They have mesh around the sides and foam to make them easier to wear. Changing the lens is straight forward. Molly soon got used to them with a smelly treat for wearing them.

Absolutely incredible experience! The manager, Ashley, was incredibly helpful when we were selecting new harnesses for our two pups. We’ve always struggled to find harnesses that fit them comfortably, support their mobility, and give us control. Ashley not only helped us find the perfect fit but also provided us with valuable information we didn’t even know we needed. No other place has ever taken the time to assist us in finding the right fit and educate us to make walking the dogs easier. We cannot thank or recommend them enough.

We were having trouble with our Lab 'Sonny' pulling on the lead while on holiday in the Lake District. Ashley greeted us at the shop with much enthusiasm & desire to help us solve this, she asked us questions about how we walk Sonny & what kind of thing we thought could help us. Ashley recommended the Gencon clip to collar dog headcollar, she gave us a short practical lesson on how to use this with Sonny before we bought the product and that was invaluable! It turned out to be a great buy so thank you so much for your great service!

I had the most lovely time at Podgy Paws, I was helped by Ashley and she was just the best! Everyone was super sweet and kind with me and my pup Nala… Made my day! She looks so smart in her new harness!

I've only ever bought harnesses for my miniature schnauzer puppy online but ours broke on the first day of our holiday. Luckily we came across the shop and went in. They actually tried the harness on Alfie and made sure it was a good fit. So pleased with the result and the harness is great. One happy and safe puppy. Alfie was spoilt with some treats too. Thank you.

We went to purchase a harness for our bull terrier and we were served by Ashley who was friendly and very helpful gave us lots of advice about a dog harness and fitted it properly to our dog.

Many thanks to Ashley for looking after Amy for a harness fitting. As ever with this establishment, great staff, great service, great advice, large product range. It is odd but we wait to visit Keswick for dog purchases even though we live in a big city (and have Amazon Prime!)

Our go to shop for our dogs when in the lakes. On this visit we bought one harness and 2 collars. Ashley was patient with us and was happy to help us try the harness and collars on making sure the fit was just right. No upselling, just expert advise to make sure our dogs were comfortable and secure. Oh and the pup treats to thank us for visiting were a lovely touch thank you, see you again next time 🐶 🐶
