Used my Pocketalk S for 2-3 weeks intermittently when I was in Greece in 2022 and I have not used it since.
I tried to charge it up recently but the built-in battery is completely dead and Pocketalk refused to service it or to replace battery. Apparently there is some protective circuitry that cuts off the battery after a period of non use.
I wanted to pay for the battery replacement but 'customer service' (Mr. Saito) said they neither replace batteries nor do they service the devices, so I'm left with a useless translator for which I paid $100s!
Pocketalk, this is not acceptable. You treat your customers with contempt.
To all potential buyers I would strongly recommend that you do not purchase any Pocketalk translators.

From the moment your device is no longer under warranty and you have a problem with the battery. It is impossible to replace it. You can find Pocketalk's answer attached, so I think there are better devices to buy.

Pocketalk continues to charge me 44 dollars for service I did not request! I am disputing the charges as consumers cannot contact the company. The device only works part of the time! Be aware,, this is how they continue their profits. Bad business and stay clear!!!

Another example of mindless marketing: devices that were never going to do what the company claimed. Customer service plays the circle-jerk game while the warranty expires and that's $300 down the drain.

I bought a Pocketalk S in Japan. It only worked for a week. I wrote to support at pocketalk.com when I was in Thailand. I as referred to a Pocketalk distributor in Thailand who told me they could nit help since I did not buy the device in Thailand. The Japanese Pocketalk web site is only in Japanese and I do not read, write or speak Japanese. Support@pocketalk was apologetic however their promises of help were slow to happen. They told me a new Pocketalk S was being sent to me in Thailand, They explained how complicated it was for them to help because of logistics. The fact of the matter is they never planned on having international support and they, Pocketalk Sourcenext have chain of command and decision making issues. It took 2 weeks of daily emails to get a replacement Pocketalk.

I have yet to receive a meaningful apology.

I received the Pocketalk hand held translator as a gift. I was so excited. Sleek form and the translator function was great! However my happiness was short. When using the device it would switch to different languages in mid conversation. There is no volume button so indoors or at a restaurant everyone is annoyed with my private conversation. Finally it stopped connecting to the two year wifi plan. I called the company i got a live person which was good. After updating and checking the settings it still didn't work. They said they would contact me back. After a week nothing so i called again. I got attitude, told to produce my receipt. I said it was a gift. They said if i had a receipt that they would have me send it to them and they would test it and either fix it or send another. Other than that i was not getting helped. Save your money or buy from someplace else.
