Review summary

Based on reviews, created with AI

Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the service, describing it as unsatisfactory and problematic. Customers frequently encountered issues with payments, including invisible transaction limits, funds being held, and transactions failing to go through. The user experience was often problematic, with difficulties connecting accounts, broken links, and the system refusing to return to the original site. The website itself was criticized for being buggy and unreliable, with users unable to log in or verify their accounts. Some people were dissatisfied with the customer service, finding it impossible to speak with a human agent and being directed to unhelpful chatbots. Reviewers also expressed concerns about data collection and sharing practices. However, some customers also noted that for simple, non-urgent transfers, the service worked easily and efficiently, particularly when the receiving bank organized the transfer.

I applied for a job posting they had posted of a technical support engineer. I received an email stating that I was not a strong match. However, when I checked job qualifications/skills needed for job, I checked off all the boxes. Thus, I was confused as I felt as I was most certainly a strong match.

I had emailed Plaid twice to reach out for clarification. They never answered my email. I went to their website and tried filling out contact form. Yet, still nothing.

For any customer of Plaid, let this be your warning: they do not answer your emails or calls and have awful communication.

Garbage - developers should requestion their career paths

Garbage, forced to connect my account to plaid while using the wise app and not able to transfer funds while abroad. Apps is shotty and works only when it decides to. Super unreliable would avoid using them or any app that works with them. Unless you want to be abroad unable to access your money and bank account.

Plaid is absolutely awful

Plaid is absolutely awful! I am able to connect however the transaction fails for no apparent reason. Why Uphold uses this failing service is beyond me. I am forced to use a different exchange.

Plaid sucks

Plaid sucks, and I am also not happy with the service that uses Plaid as their service to sync with banks. Plaid almost always doesn't work, and then the service says "hey, the problems you're having are with Plaid, not us. Take it up with Plaid." Rest assured, I won't be using either service. When I try to re-sync my accounts, I get a message that says "Couldn't connect to your institution. If you need to use this app immediately, we recommend trying another institution." Oh that's so helpful! So I should open a new account at a different bank and transfer all my money over there just to use Plaid. Right. I just Googled "Plaid sucks" and a ton of articles came up, including one about a $58 million class action lawsuit against them. Avoid Plaid, and any service that uses Plaid.

Absolute garbage "service."

Absolute garbage "service." I cannot link my bank because my credentials are incorrect when I know with 100% certainty they are. I seek out customer support and am told by the chat bot that they don't do live agents, so if you have a problem they don't care or have any desire to fix it. I don't know who pays them money, but they need to stop, and at this point, if a company uses them it's a red flag for their own unethical business practices because either they know the service is junk and don't care, or willingly use them just so they can be seen to offer the service when they know it won't work.

Plaid is TERRIBLE

Plaid is TERRIBLE. When I went to link an account with another account, it said it would send me a code to a phone number that's not even mine!
I tried for an hour to get in touch with a human being at Plaid after I couldn't get into my account.
It wouldn't send a reset to my email, either.

Plaid sucks

They put in my banking data wrong with my apartment and I got charged $100 for their mistake. They messed up the routing number (not sure how that happened because I logged into my bank for it to connect over) with not one, but TWO of my accounts. Then, when I was trying to figure out what was happening, I tried to speak with customer service, which doesn't exist, and is only an AI chatbot. I finally found an email associated with Plaid to get an auto reply that the inbox is not monitored and to create a help request by logging in. Was not able to log in. The cycle goes on. Incredibly frustrating. I had to manually override it to get it changed which took a long time. I am not inept with technology, either, so I really can't imagine what an awful service this is for those who struggle or are not as well-versed with tech and AI.

I lost my car and my job due to Plaid

I lost my car and my job due to Plaid! All I needed was a $30 loan! Went downhill from there! Could not log in! Made over 100 attempts. Plaid tells you that your information is incorrect! I nearly went insane! It's been a week since I've given up and my Nervous System is shot. Without my car I cannot make a living! My job was tied to my vehicle. I also tried to use it to transfer some funds from a virtual card for emergencies since I'm now Unemployed. It told me over and over that my information is wrong. Now I have $100 emergency money that I have no access to. With only $5 to my name to live on. In 2025! I will be using cash for everything from now on. Ppl have been saying this for decades "DO NOT TRUST BANKS!" Now I understand! They ALL use PLAID now. Take your money out of banks and out of the credit union. Plaid has taken over Crypto as well. USE CASH! YOU WERE WARNED!

Dangerous and untrustworthy

Most systems that facilitate transactions intentionally separate the act of "connecting" or "linking" a bank account and actually "submitting" or "confirming" a transaction. Plaid is not one of them. The deceptive, untrustworthy, poorly designed piece of crap immediately submitted the transaction after linking the bank without confirming the transaction submission, causing me my first ever overdraft after decades of never ever having an overdraft. If it were well designed, it would have solicited confirmation, at which point I could have waited until completing the necessary transfers. Do not use this if you value your credit and if you value not incurring overdraft fees.

I wanted to create an app with Plaid…

I wanted to create an app with Plaid integration. I was contacted by their sales manager, who informed me that they will review my account within 24 hours. It's 48 hours, it's still pending, and the manager doesn't answer my emails. If they don't want me on they platform, they could just disapprove, and I would use a different solution; instead, they behave unprofessionally.

Connections no longer work…

Connections no longer work consistently. Support is dishonest and misleading by pretending to work on fixes that never come.

Plaid is an entrenched business that does not care about its customers.

Worst company created

Worst company created. Every single app to borrow money goes through them. They only support major banks though. I've been trying for 2 years to use apps like that, and I can only use cash app because plaid sucks and says they don't support my bank. Why in the Fu*k does a bank need a company to be a Fu*king mediator when they're a bank, and why do all the apps use the worst possible company to do it.

One star is too many

One star is too many. I don't leave bad reviews normally, but I despise this company. I set up a meeting to try and get someone to resolve the issues I am having, ended up scheduling a time to do a video call. Once on the video, the guy just tried selling me stuff. I said no i hate plaid and i want it fixed and he said he would send an email to an IT guy. Never heard from that IT guy.

I am so frustrated with plaid that I am seriously considering switching accounting softwares. The current one I'm on makes me use plaid.
