The studio itself was in fairly good condition with backline, drums and pa all working fine. Downsides are lack of ventilation, and bleed through from other rehearsals and people smoking hash outside.... See more

Excellent Rehearsal Space with Great Customer Support

Excellent rehearsal space with great customer support. We were a microphone down from what the booking stated and needed another, their support service was quick to respond and sorted us a replacement with no hassle. Very impressed.

Winta was super attentive

Winta was super attentive! I made the mistake of booking at the wrong studio and of course Winta came to the rescue ! I really thought I was was going to get stuck without the sub. Thank you Winta !!!!

Good music practice and production studios

Pirate studios are great for flexibility of the pricing, times and duration of the session and the variety of choice when it comes to the space you require.
I have been using them for solo and band practice sessions and never experienced any problems.
The equipment though could have a bit more attention in terms of maintenance - I am refering to drum equipment first of all - but the support is very responsive and fast in solving any issues if there are any.
Will definitely recommend them and continue using their service myself.

While some of our customers definitely treat the studios with care, there are others that don't, which results in the type of equipment degradation you are describing. Since we are a self-service studio, it is beneficial to get feedback from our customers when they find any equipment issues, so that we can service them ASAP. We are also glad that you have had pleasant experiences with our customer service team as well. See you in the studio again soon! :)

Just Outstanding Customer Service

Being the idiot that I am, I booked an Edinburgh Pirate rehearsal (where I live) instead of a Dublin Pirate rehearsal (where I currently was). Contacted Pirate on Whatsapp, they literally replied in seconds and transferred my booking over to Dublin within 10 minutes.

Best customer service I've ever experienced in my 35 years on this planet.

sad story

first recording studio was super dirty and microphone was broken and physically demolished.
we got a new studio, that appeared clean and fine but when we tried to record, the microphone stopped working after a few seconds, like loose contact.. i’d expect refund on the bank account at least.. this whole night is just disappointing and sad. that’s not supporting any artist, it just kills creativity.

Reliable and sleek. Great customer service

Brilliant studio in Edinburgh with fantastic looking, comfy rooms and excellent gear. I accidentally booked the wrong day so I reached out to WhatsApp customer service. They responded immediately and gave me the credit needed into my account to rebook. Very impressed.

Ups and downs

Gets a three verging on a two. I've used the facility in Reading multiple times and have had some pleasant and frustrating experiences. The pleasant (and relatively simple to achieve) things - You turn up, the room exists, is fairly clean & you get on with your session.

However on multiple times they have cancelled late citing the popular "electrical or equipment faults". Problems that would have been sorted quickly at regular studios with staff on site. Applying credit to your account instead of offering that and a full refund is cheeky. The default should be a full refund.

They've axed and replaced band rooms with DJ booths at Reading in particular. This is immensely frustrating. When I go to book I see weeks and weeks of band rooms booked solid and weeks of empty DJ rooms. Tempted to book a DJ room and try and squeeze the band into it! Clearly awful decision to scale back the quantity of rehearsal rooms.

And now their prices are creeping up, the fee being their primary advantage over more premium rehearsal studios will lead most to those with other options to beggar the question – Why use Pirate? There are other local studios that are cleaner, better equipment, staff on hand so if you charge the same or there’s a poultry few quid difference, why use you?

We do our best to move customers to other available rooms when a room goes down but when they are not available there is not much more we can do. Often times as well the problems in the room take multiple days to asses and fix and aren't simple repairs. We appreciate your comment about the refund as well. Often times there are rooms available the next day, but we do not assign them to you since they are not for the date and time you have requested.

It is good to receive feedback as well about the dj room changes. We are constantly taking in feedback about the decisions we make in the studios in order to make better ones for our customers moving forward, so we appreciate your honesty.

Finally, while we have increased our prices, I am including a document that explains our Peak/Off peak times. Understanding this can really help with booking at the right time to save money. Pirate cancelled at late notice.

Pirate cancelled at late notice.

This is our only experience of dealing with Pirate Studios. Our band were due to practice at Pirate Studios in Salford, Manchester at noon on 08/05/2022. We are booked to play a festival later on the same day in Manchester. As we're not from the city we thought we'd give Pirate a go to squeeze a practice in beforehand as a load of the band have been off on holidays etc. I was impressed with the automated booking system and the ease of booking. However, with 19 hours of notice, at 18:13 on 07/05/2022, I received a message stating that my booking had been cancelled for a fault with their equipment. We had planned to bring our own equipment anyway but I suppose they didn't know this. To their credit, they refunded me the cost of the rehearsal . I then went onto their website to re-book, but their system was down. I attempted to get through their chatbot to be able to speak with someone but there is no-one available. We've decided to go elsewhere. My main issues are the late and summary cancellation in-spite of us using our own equipment, the inability to re-book a room and the inability to speak to someone to resolve the issue.

**Edit - I have changed my review from a 2* to 1* as I now note that their cancellation email states they have credited my account to use "against another booking". I can't even get in to my account to check this as their systems are down. To the person who will respond to this from Pirate Studios, you can make this right by giving me a full refund. We will not be working with Pirate Studios again**

Hi Joseph, thanks for leaving such a detailed and informative review. I can definitely understand your frustration since you were preparing for an upcoming show. When a booking has to be cancelled like this it is because there is a major fault with the equipment or the room and there are no other available rooms for the same time and date as your original booking. Additionally in this particular case the room was down due to it being severely miss used by previous customers and needing to be repaired. In this case you would not have been able to use the room even if you brought your own equipment.

In the future we would definitely suggest trying the website on a different phone or computer, or restarting your phone or computer, as this can be the root cause of the issue. As far as our chat, often times you just need to finish answering all the questions prompted by the chat bot before it will turn you over to a live agent. You can also reach us via WhatsApp, on social media or via email at support@pirate.com

I am pleased to note as well that since your initial review, the total cost you paid has been refunded to your bank account by our team. Please allow 5-10 business days for this process to complete and if you have any further questions please drop us a line at support@pirate.com

Works always awesome

Works always awesome, I love to do sessions there. DJ equipment is expensive and in normal environments you cannot play loud. Pirate Studios solve both - 24/7!

Take your friends and enjoy some music

Great experience with friends, booked the studio for 3 hours with 5 homies to listen to future new album and it was totally worth it.

-great speakers
-easy to connect
-air conditioning
-comfy
-easy booking

Its worth an experience if you really want to be loud and dont want to bother anyone !!

Rubbish company

Rubbish company. Tried to sign up but they insisted in ID which I uploaded. The issue seems to be that I signed in as Bill but my ID says William and as my name doesn't match up I can't book a room. What kind of fkd up company can't work out that Bill is William??
Avoid and use one of the many local rehearsal rooms that are desperate for business.

Excelent Place for Music Fans

I've been to pirate quite some times and it's amazing. It is still hard to believe that you find so quality equipment and rooms for such a fair price.
I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys music.

Dan Hodgson best customer service ❤️

Dan Hodgson customer service was exceptional. He helped me with everything I needed even with the lack of equipment available. Even though room 8 mixer at Wembley is basically broken with the lows, he managed to help through it all. He made it all worthwhile, thank you Dan.
