Look elsewhere. Private equity owned now.

First off, my premium has skyrocketed in the last couple of years, now more than double what it was when we joined. Second, they are denying more claims as time goes on, similar to how human health insurance claims to cover you but finds a way not to. Third, I feel there is absolutely a premium increase based on your usage, and other users have pointed this out on Reddit (having two dogs, making claims for one and not the other and seeing a difference in their annual premium increases). I loathe that this company was bought by private equity; that was the beginning of true downfall. I wish I had chosen one that wasn’t, but I’m stuck with it now, as my pet has “pre existing conditions” in the eyes of any other insurance. Overall, getting policy coverage payouts is too hard, since they continually ask for more documentation to slow you and have you drop off during that process; it’s a known tactic. Why 3 stars? Bec at this point, they are still paying out most claims (with extra work) and the employees are lovely.
But if I was someone buying a new policy, I’d look elsewhere.

I have had Pets Best for quite a while

I have had Pets Best for quite a while. I have filed claims over the years but this year my Springer has had an awful year health wise. Several large surgeries and issues in between. You have paid the claims and your customer service reps are always willing to help when I have questions. So glad I chose your company. Thanks

Pet's Best is OK

I have been marginally happy with Pet's Best over the last 4 years. I did have an issue where they covered a surgery that didn't accomplish anything, but wouldn't cover a treatment (because it was an 'alternative therapy'). However, that treatment has been more effective and resolved our issue.

I'm also highly frustrated at the $351 price hike due to my pug turning 5. The reason was the breed and age. The dog has not even reached it's deductible for 2 years. The customer service is not understanding and gives very scripted and generic responses to you being upset. Same when I tried to get our previously mentioned treatment covered, even with pages of appeal information from our specialty vet... they wouldn't even entertain the idea. Just a generic 'nope, it's not on our list of medications'.

Knowing people who have been through catastrophic events with their pets, I have chosen to stay with Pet's Best 'just in case'. Unfortunately, even with the price hike, they still offer the best coverage (I shopped around).

Having said all of this, I guess it's the way the world is now a days. No one cares about helping you, they're just out to make money.

The app is great

The app is easy to use to submit claims. Direct deposit reimbursement takes longer than I think it should. I’m not happy that the appointment charge is not covered if seeing a tech vs an actual vet.

Pets Best always comes through

Pets Best always comes through! This is my second year with coverage for my dog. The wellness coverage is just what we need, covers the basics for his meds, blood work, tests and office visit. (Thankfully we haven't needed the emergency coverage.) The claim process is easy on the app and on their web site. This time, the reimbursement for heartworm meds was approved in one day! Interface for reimbursement directly to my Care Credit account is seamless. Their rates are competitive, and I like that I can pay quarterly and set it up through Care Credit. I'd highly recommend Pets Best. Well worth it for the peace of mind.

Easy to upload claims!

Easy to upload claims!
It's very easy to upload the claims and so far I haven't had any denied. I just wish their reimbursement process was a bit quicker but I do get it in time to pay the credit card bill. Can't complain. I have the 90% coverage, 250 deductible, unlimited amount for my cat.

Thinks twice after reading my review

When our first dog died my wife found rescue, she made or pain easier, year after we saved life of another little joy. Both covered by PetsBest. I never had issues, paid 90/10, never cancelled Wellness Part, never complained about rising prices or claim processing time. Just loyal happy customer. All changed in one day. Little joy developed teeth issues. Took him to vet - he needed 12 teeth removed, life saving situation. Emergency situation! Pets Best claimed your dog health is our number one priority!?? They simply denied claim saying you have to wait 13 months before anything can be done!!!! Imagine you need live saving surgery and your insurance telling you to wait! Appeal says same - keep your dog in pain for 13 months until we will cover it. You people have no hearts at all!

Worth every penny

We have used pets best for our last two dogs. Our oldest who’s only five years old has had three major incidents that were all covered by pets best. They were quick to pay any claims. I think our rates are fair especially with what they’ve covered.

We are 100% thankful for them and will use them for every one of our pets moving forward

Quick claims processing

I sent the claims in (first ones of the year) they quickly processed them and are sending me a check to reimburse my payment to the Vet. Like my personal health insurance it is easier to make a monthly premium payment and then get the MD/Vet bill reimbursement...great insurance.

Scam insurance

Scam insurance. I regret leaving lemonade for this garbage. My policy covers emergency vet visits, accident/injury, and the medications prescribed to my dog. They didn’t cover a penny of either visit and tried to say my services aren’t covered when they clearly are. Do not give your money to this company. Lemonade took 5 days max to get refunded and it took these idiots 13 days to even send an email about claims being denied. They are liars and thieves.

Won't answer phone to cancel. RATES COTINUE TO RISE

They continued to raise my rates to obscene amounts ($85 to $115 to $200 within 2 years, my dog is no 7)...there is no math that makes this worth it.

The WORST part is i've been on hold with them to cancel for the past hour and there's no other way to cancel. This is ABSURD.

the only good thing is their claims process through the app was easy. But really...policy management would make me never recommend them. It's not worth this headache.

Super pet insurance

I’ve had Pets Best since 2019. I’ve only had one episode that I thought was not fair or correct other than that, they have been very good. I’ve recommended them numerous times to different people. Customer care service is phenomenal. I have never had a bad experience with anyone they’re always very kind, helpful, knowledgeable. I recommend Pets Best to anybody looking for pet insurance.

This Policy does not cover or help, waste of money!

I made the promise that the next time I get a pet I would make sure to have Insurance(which is when I got this policy) for the pet since they are like family. Well the truth is this Insurance policy does not cover much, very rarely and is very expensive and keeps going up to the point of unaffordability. Now, I am locked in to a policy with a company that doesn't even cover barely anything. We never expect, or want to put in a claim, that means our animal/pet is sick which is not what we want and then on top of it having to pay the premium and then fight for coverage off visits when we are hurting and sad due to pet illness, your company literally make promises you don't keep and then kick us when we are down. I wish I had the option to leave your company, but I am locked in this very bad relationship of sad service, poor coverage and a joke of a partnership. If you are considering a Pet Insurance policy I would highly consider shopping elsewhere as this company seems great but they do not cover much and will make you fight, work hard to try to get anything covered.

Simple Process

Submitted a claim for my dog's dental work. They responded within a reasonable amount of time and clearly explained what they were/weren't covering and why. The process was simple, and the explanation was clear.
