Fraud protection, card frozen without informing me.
I admire the fraud protection measures implemented by TSB. The beef I have is this. My card was blocked unbeknown to me. Went to pay online and TSB approved the payment on the Mobil app. Yet I was not informed my card was blocked. I thought it was the payee's software fault. Spent half the damned nite trying.
Took 30 minutes waiting on the help line.

Been in ptsb bank on Friday ask for a loan for a used car as need walk to work 3miles one way, the amount of money I wanted to borrow was just €2000, when I hear sorry sir u will need to wait a bit longer for your loan - how long? No clear anser... Same day I receive message, sir we will call u tomorrow regarding your loan, they never called back. Still walking 6miles to work and back. Thank you Ptsb.

Permanent TSB keeps advertising their “upgraded services” and “new app features” but for the past few days I can’t even make a simple bank transfer! Every time I try to enter an amount, I get an error message saying “amount must be a number.” I’ve tried on the app and on my computer, and nothing works. This is appalling basic banking shouldn’t be this frustrating!

I wouldnt give permanent any stars. I have had nothing but trouble with the app since may 2025. I keep contacting permanent tsb and I would be told do this do that and nothing would work. Then reset your internet password do that and then about few hours later same thing would happen. Put in a complaint because at this stage my app was crashing when I was away and didn't have access to a computer. Still being told try this try that and nothing working , then blaming it on the phone I had. That is not acceptable for online banking in 2025 when they except you to complete everything online. I eventually stopped having trouble in end of july working fine. Now were in august and it starts happening again app crashing , ring up reset my password again and get back in . Now today the app is crashing and I am having no joy getting back in and cant even see what money I have to pay bills. If there was an option to give zero stars I would .

Abhorrent customer service. Got an email in the post informing me that my student account would be changing into a current account (with €8 monthly fees included) and that I would need to visit my 'local' (couple of hours drive down the country) to give them proof that I was still a student if such was the case. I couldn't just do it online, nor visit any branch close by. I was unable to head down until only recently, where I was informed my account had already changed over (don't know when, wasn't notified) and that it was impossible to change back. My only course of action was closing my account entirely and reopening a new one and was told that nothing else could be done. Went along with at least a bit of their advice; going to close my account and reopen it in a different bank.
Also, they have an app that never works as its supposed to despite seemingly hundreds of updates a year + is constantly down.

I really don't know why their updating the app to make it worse, the last two times they updated it hasn't been good for me but this time it's the worst ever it's so dark with the black top and I'm finding the layout terrible as I find everything Jumbled up if I need to find out what I spent today to other days dates seem to be mixed up the only thing I can make out is the pending items ..I'm waiting for next app update because the last two are shocking I won't be holding my breath to be any better... please please tsb please try better 😔

My debit card has been blocked due to suspicious payments. I've been calling the open 24 and the fraud number since 10 this morning and on hold for up to 15 minutes. Went into the online chat and explained the situation. They said they'd ask fraud department to call me. Phone rang twice and hung up before I could answer. Got text message to call them back urgently. Called back and on hold again.
Went back to chat, new chat so had to explain again. Put on hold. App logged off due to inactivity.

I’ve banked with PTSB for over 20 years. Since the last week in June I can’t use my Visa Debit card online. They are sending the code to a phone number I had 5 years ago. I’ve paid late fees to 2 companies because I couldn’t pay online with my own money.?
Dire service if you are tracing a dormant account
Called PTSB today in an attempt to trace a dormant Irish Nationwide account - according to media articles they acquired Irish Nationwide years ago… I can see why they have such dire reviews. The call handler said she had never heard of Irish Nationwide and refused to pass me on to a more experienced colleague. She suggested I visit a branch - I live in the UK. When I enquired if I should write to their head office to trace the account, she said no. I eventually wrangled the HO address out of her and I could sense the eye-rolling when I asked for the post code, as she has to look it up. Upon further digging online after the call, it appears that they have a dormant account department, a documented process, and a form to fill in - none of this information was forthcoming and no attempt was made to assist in any way. I asked to be put through to Customer Services - she said she was Customer Services… that said it all. Avoid them, they clearly have no value on customers, potential, current or future if they put someone who is clearly either untrained or quietly quitting in a customer-contact position.
Incompetent workers, useless customer service and poor access to bank account…
App suddenly stopped working for me asking me for device authentication and not letting me to authorise my device. I rang customer service and no help.
Stupid question if I remember my password ( (yes, I do)or if my software is up to date ( it is).
Solution from bank representative: "go to the phone shop and ask if your device is compatible because some older phones or some specific phones might not be"
My question: " which brand or models are not compatible with your app".
Bank representative: "I don't know".
Me: " This is your app so if you don't know how a guy from a phone shop will know"?
Lady: " I don't know "
Incompetent workers!
After 3 hours on the phone the ticket with complaint was submitted. App hasn't been working but solution was simple when I contacted my brother who is an IT specialist.
Wasted time, no help, no basic knowledge about their own systems and ridiculously you cannot access your bank account from browser on the phones! No other bank does that. Preventing people from accessing their accounts if their app stops working!
