Licensing prices have gone thru the roof for a product that really does not match value for the price we're paying. Even after a generous discount, we're 200% up on license cost.

Wanted to try the demo but it only supports windows. Any enterprise solution should support Linux, MAC and windows. Not really worth the time if you have no windows environments.

I am nothing more than a father trying to supply quality internet and devices for my children to learn remotely upon. I bought everything new (mesh wifi, switch, cable modem) and ordered the best cable internet I could buy. Sadly, despite new cat5e wiring and everything set up properly, our internet drops and the cable service provider claims it is not their fault. This software is so incredible it certainly has found a lot for me to read up on, but as just a normal person who is not a network professional, I am left in the dust. I will also add that the support of this PRTG company is second to none.

Is an excellent system but need a agent for some works that require detailed data

So great app, but that need some optimization.
- Better Web interface
- Better implementation inside the system (Manage services, files, account...)

Been using PRTG for years, maybe decades, and it's always been my "go to" or "transition to" utility in any organization I've been involved with, whether it be by consulting or full-time employment. Given the many options and total customization for any environment, large or small, single location or multiple, it boggles my mind that this product isn't more popular (and that it doesn't have a higher rating...4.4 at the time of this review...what?). PRTG is the GOLD Standard in which all others follow, plain and simple. My only "knock" on the product is on the licensing side. Sure, being able to license it for free (less than 100 sensors) is fantastic, but the jump from free (100) to pay (500) is a HUGE leap in terms of cost and sensors for many, many "small" businesses in the world. For example, in my current situation, I'm just below 100 (on purpose); yes, I'm a user of this freebie, but had always been a paying customer prior to this endeavor. Even if I were to go "all in", I likely w/could never surpass 150 (well, today anyway). My point is, I wish Paessler would consider bridging this gap, to say, $1,000 for 250...that's a go/transition to number.

Very powerful network monitor tool, you can adjust it to particularly any need you have for monitoring your network devices. Easy to setup and configure.

I've tested several monitoring systems like checkmk, cati, solarwinds, and so on, but PRTG is the most easiest and fastest way to monitor your IT equipment, IP's/URLs. No agent is needed and supports several possibilities of a monitoring way.
I used a few different network performance monitoring tools in my days at IBM and I wish PRTG was around then as it would've made my job much easier. PRTG is an impressive solution for enterprise IT monitoring. Well done!

PRTG has not changed the Style or the underlying Base for Years, and was created with WindowsServer in Mind. ( Docker,Linux where not invented ornot widley in use in 2008 )
Two Years ago they promised a new redsign so that modern Funktion like intuitive Charts you can address faster , like in a Grafana Dashboard and a new Enginge Database Storage like in Inluxdb .
They state that 72 Developer work on PRTG , I using PRTG now almost 20 ! Years with 10000 Plus Installation . I dont see any Progress or new Developments .
They made new Sensor for IOT ( MQTT , MODBUS Sensor "NEW" or very Spezial Sensor ( INSYS icom ) , older Sensor like DELL REST just vanish after a short Time again .
They have Github and Gitlab for the Community with different Projects Status for the Same "Project", actually they updates just the Readme to redirect from Gihub -> Gitlab .
I have seen in 10 Years many so called "BETA" Sensors or "Introductions" on the Forum to just die without any further explanaition after 1 or 2 Years, for example EMC Systems.
The Marketing is very good and I trusted the Wording that the "Current" PRTG Installation will have in the not so far Future more Possiblities and a redesign to address large installation and Handling , well Marketing ! [ 2018 ]
There ist still no way that a PRTG Probe can cache Data from the Devices they scan if the PRTG CORE is down or that PRTG still wants to be installed on a Windows System with GUI ( which was a advantage in 2000 .. we are now in 2020 ) , if you tried the "Cluster" PRTG Solution , it faild us when we needed it.
The PRTG API was given to the PRTG Users not through Paessler , but through a Developer which just did that on its own ( 1 Developer / on github lordmilko/PrtgAPI ) no official Support of Course which could result in a broken possibility if the Developer looses intrest . I would have expect that from PAESSLER already !
If they are proud in developing PRTG just for 24 News Sensors +bugfixing , well it sound not to much for 115200 Developer Hours [ 72Developers] in 2020 .
If you have old Data composed through a specific SNMP Sensor you cant Migrate them , you simply loose the DATA ...
If you create SENSORS , for example VMWARE SOAP on different PRTG Version they are not equal ... big surprise to us.
If you make a Template you dont get the Clone of a current Device , as a Sensor Template could be adding additional Sensor which have then be deleted again.
If you try to drag and drop a Sensor inside a device to a different Position , it is of course very slow and it drops not where you think it should, it has its own mind ( Years of Frustration )
If you think you can also use PRTG as your Telemetrie Programm , think twice , you could put the Sensor Interval to 30Sec but when you do ... just say that the Speed will tell you that it was not build for that Intervall in Mind. ( for 1000 Sensors dont even think about it, something with a TIC Stack is not even a challenge )
Try to build a Map with the nice "quickanddirty" MapBuilder, well it seems that noone test it with 10000 Sensors in the Database ... its so sluggish and actually I dont think it gets any Love now a days . So many Details which just tell you "we leave it the way we liked it in 2010"
The Best is the seizing , you have more then 10000 Sensore and try to get Data from the WEB Frontend . Well its slow . Actually it doesnt profit from more RAM , SSD / NVME [ real Fast Storage ] is the only Help and hopefully you have high Single Thread Perfromance in your CPU .
There is the KnowlegeBase with Tipps which feels like they were from 2010 , a lot of none blabla technical Advice , more like .
From the Forum ( PRTG official 2010! -> PRTG 7.3.2 )
*How can I speed up PRTG—especially for large installations?*
"... As a bonus, you can use SSD disks. We have not yet extensively tested this.."
For 2010 understandable , but maybe in 2020 someone should feel free to give some real advice .
For a Programm License Fee for 10.000 Sensor you will pay 12000 Euro a Year it looks like a fair price , but keeping in Mind that the Process of the Program is not noteble , looking back over 20 Years with PRTG , I would see no Real Progress for me . ( Server Monitoring Windows / Linux Server )
Best on PRTG is its Support , very Fast Response friendly but limited if the Program has its limits.

Easy to use network monitoring
We have been using PRTG for a couple a years now. Monitoring new devices is very easy with the auto-discovery function.
It is a bit more complicated to configure heavily-customized workflows, but basics monitoring work really fine.

It took me only one day to set Monitoring working.
With custom sensors you can do anything you could imagine, we are even monitoring our Hyper-V replication to Remote Office. AWESOME!
