Horrible, outright deceptive product packaging
Purchased Ortho "Bug Clear LAWN INSECT CONTROL" at Lowes. The packaging of this product is so deceptive that (in my mind) it is actually fraudulent. The huge headline on the package says; "Bug Clear LAWN INSECT CONTROL". Right below the headline is an oversized picture of a grub right in the center. However, despite the blatant characterization of this "LAWN INSECT CONTROL" product that kills grubs; tiny, tiny print on the back tell another story. On the back in the smallest print possible, it says that product kills grubs in gardens with a footnote that for lawn grub control, one should purchase Scotts Grubb Control. TOTAL DECEPTION. When I called Ortho to protest, the customer service rep acknowledged my "frustration" and promised to send my complaint up the corporate ladder as it may have some merit. I was also promised an email that would issue me an Amazon gift card for the purchase price. I did not purchase product from Amazon, but if I wanted a refund check, they would reduce refund by a $5 service fee. So, Ortho not only engages in grotesquely deceptive packaging, it assess a fee to customers who complain about the deception and seek a regular refund. At the end of my conversation with the customer rep, he said that I would receive an email with credit. I waited a few days and got no email, so I called again and asked about the promised email. In my experience, customer service emails from reputable companies occurred immediately. I was told that the email was in the pipeline and should be process in about a week. Fine. Had I been told about this processing time of initial complaint, I would have waited, no problem. However, given Ortho's deceptive packaging, and the lack of clarification by customer service rep; I simply thought the worst. Dishonesty breeds distrust.
Do NOT purchase this product on anything else from Ortho.
