I did a training course for a…

I did a training course for a “guaranteed interview” spent a week doing a warehouse and logistics course and passed it. It’s been three weeks, so I contact Orangebox and they tell me the employer I selected on the course isn’t getting back to them. Which contradicts them massively. I had other opportunities but chose Orangebox as they had the employment opportunity most suited to my situation. They left me suspended for weeks on end only to offer me an interview for an employer that would have been impossible for me to attend punctually as I told them many times.

Worst part about it, they did this to me in 2021 whilst doing a warehouse and lean course so I thought I’d give them another chance. It’s exactly the same. This practice shouldn’t be legal. They make their money from enrolling people on benefits onto their courses and securing funding via the government. But their results are a lot to be desired. Avoid this company like the plague. All they’re doing to do is waste your time and fill you with false hope. I’m now two months late on rent, barely eating and now I have to start all over again. Thank you Orangebox. They also deleted my 2021 google review because it was “negative”. If you’re reading this Orangebox, your days conning people are numbered. You’ve all been stealing a living for too long!

waste of time

waste of time. if your looking for a job this isnt the company to go through they will promise u work or a interview after doing the course they offer but once its dont they wont even get you a interview for the job your doing the courses for. no help and support is given afterwords. your best off just going straight for a job they promise you a garanteed interview but it never happens and they also promise to keep in contac to see how your progressing but that untrue too.

Apply directly to the employer

APPLY DIRECTLY THROUGH THE EMPLOYER AND YOU WONT HAVE TO WASTE YOUR UNPAID TIME ATTENDENDING THESE COURSES!!

I applied for a job online a d this company then contacted me to tell me I had to attend a 2 week course before even been given an interview. All certificates were in-house like your: Working at heights, Asbestos, CCNSG blah blah blah.... so no real certified qualifications. I think we got 1 real certified certificate but they dragged the course on longer for these in house certificates just so they could reach whatever goals to get money from the goverment fot us. Just completely wasted my time. They claim that doing these courses will 'give you the knowledge you need for this job as well as others' However, I already had experience and so did majority of the other learners. hence why we applied for the job to begin with!! but they play this card to keep you on the course so they can make money off us through government funding. The funniest thing is we then got told at the END OF THE COURSE THAT IF WE APPLIRD DIRECT TO THE COMPANY TO BEGIN WITH WE COULD HAVE BEEN GIVEN AN INTERVIEW STRAIGHT AWAY WITHOUT DOING THIS COURSE. (if you seemed the right fit) and wouldn't have to waste your time doing the course that realistically gets you no where.

And another funny thing is if you complete one course with them on say Transport and Logistics then later down the line apply for another job in say retail... they wouldn't make you do a customer service course because they cannot get funding for you twice (so I believe after doing research and speaking to another training provider) so they send you straight to the employer while others have to complete more stupid courses.
Don't waste your time. If you see a job and you apply for it and this company then contacts you, tell them no and contact the employer directly.

Dishonest in their methods

Firstly, I never applied for a training course, I applied for a job. I was contacted by Orange box and told I had to do the level 2 travel and logistics course to be able to do the warehouse job. I insisted I would not do one of the training courses for a guarantee interview, I was told on the phone, and I quote " I can't stress this enough, this isn't a guranteed interview, it's a guaranteed induction. You will get the job if you are capable" so I agreed on these terms. When I attended I was told on day one that we would get interviews. So I said I wasn't going to stay. I was persuaded to stay until later that day when we would be getting a call about the roles. It was again confirmed that it would be an induction. So I seen the course through. At the end, we were advised that we would be contacted the following week about the induction dispite the email saying two weeks. So obviously it was 2 weeks later I was called and told that the job I was applying for is no longer taking on but I could attend an interview the following day instead. Not wanting to waste that week of training I agreed to attend. I received a call from Orange box later that day asking if I'd received my email regarding my induction. When I told them I had been told they were no longer taking on and I have an interview instead they stumbled over the words and said " yes that's what I mean" they said they would call the next day following my interview. I attended the interview and they did not even have my CV ( which had been provided to Orange box training). Since then I have heard nothing from neither the employer or Orange box training. That's 5 days of unpaid time wasted. Infacr I had to pay expenses to attend. Meaning I was left out of pocket due to Orange box training and no further forward with a job.

The training it's self was informative and the trainer was approachable and patient. I did not agree with the fact that one of the training group members was forced to volunteer to hoover the floor on the last day. This may seem insignificant, but as we were not getting paid ( and actually out of pocket due to travel and food expenses) I feel that the only person getting paid to be there should be accountable for this.

Overall, I found their tactics to be dishonest and the whole experience a waste of time. That's 5 days I could have been searching for a job and been available to start a new Job.

I have just completed lean business management training with orangebox and I could not be happier. Learning was complex and difficult but therefore fulfilling and rewarding. Our trainer Dave was absolutely brilliant. Fun, fair, concise and to the point. Top marks.

Had training with orangebox

Had training this week 4 March for a week about full time hours.
A very unnecessarily long course, especially as it’s been over thirty years for me being in a classroom environment.
The course itself was informative in part but way too heavy on the environmental impact side with so many irrelevant aspects added but so much not, like on manual handling side with nothing at all really included ???? This would have tied in well with the health and safety aspects of the course and there was really no warehouse training explaining procedures or loading procedures of vehicles in a warehouse environment etc at all nothing? This makes no sense? this would be more relevant for me personally and everyone else on the course and would of helped with my job hunting efforts especially as the course is supposed to be aimed at warehouse and logistics work? and was linked to the warehouse tray wash worker and parcel sorter positions that we had predominately applied for? To be honest I will look stupid at a job interview when asked for any examples, say using pallets the correct way to load and wrap them or how to unload and move stock with pallet trucks sack barrows cages how to load a vehicle evenly, non of this vital information involved in warehouse and logistics work was included in the course, why? These are legitimate things a potential employer would ask about at an interview and expect a good response especially after talking a bumming warehouse and logistics course.
The course was more like a greenpeace or just stop oil course at times focusing on energy saving fuel pollution and ways to reduce that. At the end of the day the employer really wants to know if you can competently and safely work in a warehouse logistics setting comfortably and not worry about if they have led lighting or Solar panels on the roof. Sadly I learned very little about working in and around a warehouse logistics environment? Which I could sell to an employer and stand out at an interview?
Look to be fair we all live in a world knowing that the throw away disposable society cannot be sustainable for ever and recycling, cutting pollution, using alternative cleaner energy and fuel sources including transport infrastructure is obviously a must to protect our natural resources and nature and the obvious health benefits that goes with that, so can’t see the need to have two days of unnecessary lectures for just that element as most of society knows this stuff in some form or other anyway?
Jenna and Matt the lecturers have been great both well spoken, knowledgeable and especially helpful to my needs with being dyslexic but sadly Matt did point out punctuation, grammar and spelling was vital to help pass but again sadly being dyslexic my work was abysmal I’m ashamed to say so don’t think I will pass.
Although I comprehend the course very well and tried to interact and participate verbally as much as possible to show I’m taking it in, it can be very difficult to get my point down on paper without holding up myself and the class or embarrassing myself so not good.
Sadly the training was held in a day centre and absolutely not suitable for lectures and learning at all, the classroom itself haha was awful and held in a long narrow room with no space, I can’t express how unsuitable this room was, although the venue staff were very nice it still was not great, kids screaming and running all over the place sing songs, birthday parties every bloody day this was sadly very unprofessional and downright distracting for orangebox to use this setting?
It was such an unnecessarily long week and I don’t recommend this venue at all and would have loved to enquire about doing a SIA licence course in the future but the idea of facing this again “NO WAY” I will have to enquire with a reed course in the future.
I can’t give more than a one star as the course venue and irrelevant aspects of certain elements of the course work was really not necessary but I very much doubt orangebox has any say in what elements to gain the qualification but I’m no more informed now to excel in a warehouse environment than I was before?
Thank you orangebox for the training and hopefully I shall pass but please select your venues carefully this was so unfair to your students and lecturers and hope you are not using this as some type of cash cow with no regard to the students.
Once again thanks to Jenna and Matt.
Avoid orangebox training at Washington venue and please double check they have suitable locations if using them elsewhere as they didn’t give a monkeys for the students and lecturer’s at ours this week
Avoid at all costs if they can’t guarantee this basic thing.
