One of the worst online experiences ever

These folks must be going out of business. The stock indicated on their site is inaccurate. They charge upon order buy take weeks and months to ship. Near impossible to reach anyone and no communication on order status at all. Requests for info and/or refund are ignored. DO NOT SHOP ONLINE with these folks.

Inaccurate stock levels, poor customer service.

The worst online shopping experience I've had in 25 years. Google Shopping advised that there was stock of the product I ordered, OPT's website showed low stock. I ordered the product, received an order confirmation, received a further "congrats on your new gear" email. Three days later and after not receiving a shipping confirmation email or any details, I emailed OPT and was then after a few more days advise that the telescope wasn't in stock and would be back in stock mid-April.

I have since requested a refund by emailing three times, calling, sending messages through the Facebook chat and through the website chat - have only received one answer through messenger offering to get me a call back - which hasn't been followed up on despite my reply.

OPT is simply the WORST!

Staff (Jason) was incredibly helpful in my purchase of a mount that had been out of stock (skywatcher eq6r) by informing me the minute it was received so that I could get it before a mountain cabin trip that is to take place in March (2021)

This was after I errantly purchased another out of stock item (the eqm35), I was promptly refunded my money on the OOS item.

I would definitely do business with them again.

Bad Experience With OPT

I ordered a beginner's telescope as a Christmas present for a child in early November 2020. I thought I was dealing with Celestron as OPT's involvement was hidden. I received a couple e-mails assuring me that the telescope was on back order but on it's way. The week before Christmas arrived and no telescope and no poc to cancel the order so I bought a telescope from Barnes and Noble. When the OPT telescope finally arrived in mid January, I contacted OPT via the UPS label (no packing slip in the box). Antonia the rep was very nice (she should find work with a better company) but was clear that I could ship it back for a refund, but that reguardless of circumstance OPT would not pay for return shipping. The cheapest UPS return rate was $29 to return a $45 telescope. Further calls to OPT customer service resulted in transfer to a suposed supervisor's voice mail which despite a detailed message, was never returned. In retrospect I should have kept the telescope and sold or donated it. OPT's attitude throughout was "If you don't like it, too bad".

Dishonest and unresponsive

I understand that there is a lot going on with COVID but I ordered a telescope in mid-November and was told it was delayed a couple weeks. I have been reaching out since early December with no reply to many emails. I was just now told that I would not get my telescope until late January/early February. This was a Christmas gift and if I would have known about a 2.5 month delay, there's no way I would have purchased from OPT Telescopes. The company is purposefully avoiding responding to emails.

Horrendous service.

I ordered a ZWO ASI 120mm camera as my first planetary camera on December 10th, WHEN IT WAS IN STOCK. It still hasnt shipped out and is now on back-order. Very displeased and i will make sure to buy from a different supplier next time. I tried calling customer service multiple times and i got no response, no matter how early during business hours i called, no response. Just some funky music and premotion of the radian raptor 61 or some crap.

If I could give 0 stars I would. I ordered a Christmas gift for my mom 3 weeks ago and the company is just now telling me that they are on back order until February. The thing is, I had to call them in order to get this information...

Do NOT purchase anything from this…

Do NOT purchase anything from this store. They have the WORST customer service I have ever encountered, specifically Ron Azad. On December 2nd, I purchased a telescope for over a $1,000.00 for Christmas and three days before Christmas, they canceled my order when they could not deliver it, as promised. The staff is extremely rude and nasty, and hung up on me. Do not patronize this establishment.

Scam! Scam! Read the Return Policy carefully!

Worst customer service ever! This company seems to be interested only in single sales experiences, not a legit opportunity to build customer loyalty or satisfaction. One scam at a time! That is how they seem to operate. Otherwise, I cannot imagine why they would treat their customers this way?

Read the fine print carefully before you order. The return policy is outrageous! Not only do you have to pay for that expense of the return yourself, but they will charge you for the “free shipping” plus possible restocking fee. (They never sent me the breakdown.) My purchase was around $300. After paying for the return shipping fee of $80 PLUS being charged the “free shipping” fee, and possible restocking fee, I received about $100 back on my refund, of which $32.99 was a warranty I bought for the product. So they get to keep and resell my merchanduse at full value and I lost about $200. Ethically disgusting! This was a birthday gift. Had I known, I would have resold it myself.

The irony is that I wanted to upgrade to a better telescope. This is something they could have worked out and earned customer loyalty. Paying for one shipping fee is one thing but both shipping fees? This company is a scam! Not trustworthy at all. Buyers beware!! Beware! Never again!

Ask about the return policy before you purchase. Scam. Scam!

Untrustworthy and uncooperative company, missleading

I was looking for a particular telescope and after seeing it was sold out or not in stock by may online stores I found OPT! LUCKY AND IN TIME I FIGURED! so I ordered a gift for my son on dec17th paying for express shipping to reach on or before Christmas Eve however I was told after my countless attempts to to call or contact that they have non in stock and is back ordered 2-3 weeks, (no indication on there website at time of purchase or even 24-48hrs after purchasing) I have not been offered a alternative, nor until I had spoken a little firm a refund option! now after my firm emails and two days till Christmas I have been told there is nothing that can be done! horrible horrible service! If I did not contact them I would be waiting by the door without any indication that the order is out of stock. if you have a special occasion gift please stay away from them as they will do absolutely nothing to help resolve the issue even if it is their fault. This is the first Telescope my son has requested you can imagine how upset he will be and how I feel.

conversations with Antonia is very unhelpful I have to prompt them to offer a refund, and or alternative telescopes! (which were way out of the price range)

Irresponsible company incapable of…

Irresponsible company incapable of keeping track of what they have in stock and incapable of taking responsibility for their mistakes. They do not offer solutions to customers, their chat is worthless because nobody provided me with a solution, their email system is just as worthless since I did not received an answer until 9 days later, and their customer support is even worst.

I would advise people to stay away from this company.

Exactly same issues as other reviews

Exactly same issues as other reviews. Beware, Optcorp will never answer your calls or emails for support. When you try to cancel you order, they will ignore you. You will have to call your credit card company and file a fraud claim to stop them from charging you for orders you no longer want to wait months for. You have been warned.

Avoid this company, or live a nightmare!

This company SUCKS! Try calling them before you place an order. You cant!!!! They put you on hold for up to an order, then disconnect you. If the phone allows you to place the call at all.
Their website states they have items in stock, then a month later, you will realize they do not have them in stock.
Good luck cancelling the order. They not only will ignore you, they will not refund your money, because they refuse to cancel orders. Even ones where they have items on backorder for months!!!
You have been warned. If you ignore this review, get ready for a customer service nightmare. And expect to battle with your credit card company in order to get your money back.
