OneLegal glitches

After submitting a new bank on the payment methods page, the automatic refresh continued to show the old bank information. I made several attempts and called support. It turns out that after submitting the information, the webpage was not refreshing the updated record. After I closed the page and re-opened it, the updated record was displayed. After all that, I went back to my other window that had my filing with all documents uploaded and just waiting to be processed. I selected "continue," and the window just closed and took me back to the home screen; I had to start over again...I've never had these problems in the past.

Scam

Scam. I got an email from this website claiming they needed my credit card info to update my payment info. I've never heard of them. Blocked them via MS Outlook.

What a disaster!

What a disaster!

I had a time sensitive issue to obtain a writ of possession for an eviction that I was handling. One Legal succeeded in securing the writ, but then delivered the issued writ to some unaffiliated law firm in Orange county (instead of Santa Clara, where I maintain my office). I told One Legal of this error and they told me that "they were working on it." After 10 days, I took it on myself to call the Orange county law office, explain the error, and request that the Orange county office overnight the issued writ to my Santa Clara office (at my expense, no less).

This error by One Legal delayed my execution of the writ and the acquisition of possession of the property by approximately one month! All the time, One Legal was clamoring to get paid, even though the job was not yet done and complete.

I will never use them again.

Screwed up serving a notice of hearing

Screwed up serving a notice of hearing. Didn’t Efile it with court. Instead made 13 new proof of service docs and efiled all 13 — billed me for all the excessive work. Ghosted me when I brought it to their attention. Missed correcting the work in time for my court hearing today after I have been working with them to fix and review for weeks. Very disappointed and excessively billed.

My experience with OneLegal

My experience with OneLegal has been extremely disappointing. Their portal gives the clear impression that you can seamlessly e-file and serve your paperwork in one straightforward bundle. The platform even walks you through the same questions required on the SC-100 form, which reasonably leads users to believe that the information is being digitally submitted as part of the filing.

However, OneLegal fails to disclose that you must still submit the original SC-100 form separately. This resulted in unnecessary double data entry, first into their portal, and then again on the physical form that you must upload. If the SC-100 is what the court actually needs, OneLegal should simply instruct users to upload the completed form from the beginning instead of creating a misleading, time-wasting process. I believe they intentionally want the end user to make mistakes because OneLegal makes its money on errors unless you pay a higher fee to get it done by them.

To make matters worse, I ended up re-filing and on my second attempt, they failed to serve the papers to the defendant. I entered all the correct information needed to serve the defendant, yet OneLegal put the blame back on me, claiming the information was never provided. That makes no sense because their own system would not have allowed me to proceed with the order unless those fields were completed, especially since this was processed as a bundle. Plus, the information was on the SC-100 form. Instead of acknowledging a possible issue on their end, their customer service repeatedly shifted fault onto me.

Based on my experience, and after seeing similar complaints from other reviews, it’s clear their system does, in fact, have problems. Their customer service shows little empathy, refuses to take accountability, and they seem convinced their platform is flawless, despite evidence to the contrary.

I strongly advise staying away from this company. The process is misleading, inefficient, and their support team offers no real assistance when their system fails and you need help.

They do not generate a proof of service…

They do not generate a proof of service when e-filing this is a basic thing that multiple other e-filers provide. When I talk to support they blamed it on rules of court but could not point me to an actual rule that says that. So it sounds like they're now lying to try to cover up the fact that they can't generate proof of services maybe they don't have the engineering skills to do that but whatever it is just avoid these guys

That company is a JOKE!!

That company is a JOKE!!!
They efiled my documents to the wrong court , and delivered the courtesy copy also to the wrong court!!!!! BEYOND STUPIDITY!!! When I reviewed their records and their affidavit of delivery, saying that I was angry would be an understatement. I called them, wrote clear instructions, and the next day they delivered not the whole package of my documents. A TOTAL FAIL , especially when the deadlines are pressing!!!! Yeah, and forget about the refund. They didn’t admit a thing about their mistakes, even when I pointed out their written statements proof.
Shocked!

Personal Service Helped the Pro Se Litigant

I considered my service to be very personalized. I was assisted and steered the right direction in how to electronically file forms and now I feel highly competent though a pro se litigant with limitations however I did attend law school so I am not a complete ignoramus. The service was always helpful, Complaint and papers served within 3 days of process server's receipt, outstanding! I can't say enough about the positive service and follow up I have received and with webinars I feel great about what I am doing.

Don't trust using the Chat feature to request correction of an order

I am a solo practitioner in California. I have used One Legal for about 10 years. On July 8, 2024 at 6:58 PM (after business hours), I attempted to make a filing of three documents in the same case for the same hearing in the Ventura County Superior Court. I got one one-page document uploaded and couldn't find a button to add the other two documents. I hit "Submit" and then immediately did a second order for the other two. This order was completed at 7:10 PM. It took several minutes since I always do a review of uploaded documents to assure they are correct. When I received the e-mail notice about 10 minutes later that I was going to be billed $90 for each order, I sent a request to consolidate the orders. That request was sent via the One Legal web page and was made no more than a half hour following the last of my two submissions. I received acknowledgement on July 9 that the orders were worked during business hours that day. I just received a notice that my request to consolidate was "too late" to be corrected. Really? The Order wasn't worked until at least 12 hours later. I guess I should have called instead of relying on the Chat feature.

Incompetence and lies

I should have read these reviews first... yikes. I ordered a process server thinking it would be an easy job. The recipient was informed that a server would be in touch and was ready to accept the documents.

The server shows up to the address and... talks to the neighbor before promptly giving up. He said that there was a gate at the address and therefore I would need to buy a "stakeout".

I asked customer support why he didn't bother to use the phone number provided and this is what they told me (in order):

1) The server wasn't instructed to use the phone number (that needs to be asked for?)
2) There actually weren't any contact details provided (details were provided)
3) Their system messed up and didn't transmit the details (ok.. no refund?)
4) I should have purchased an upgraded package to get the ability for a phone call to be made (why?)
5) I should have instructed the use of a phone number (we're back here again)

I asked them how I could have possibly known that I needed to purchase an upgrade package or include a note that says "please use the provided phone number". They said their server did a good job and therefore none of my concerns matter and I won't get a refund.

DISASTER OF A WEBSITE !

DISASTER OF A WEBSITE !! THEY MUST HAVE BEEN ON DRUGS when put the website together. We are a high volume firm and are trying to move away from this disastrous operation. First, they are too cheap to store files beyound 1 year. Second, you cannot place an order by case number or by plaintiff's name. Their sorting / indexing is completely inconistent. Simply not reliable.

Don’t Hire These Liars to File for You

I’ve been a One Legal customer for years. Last week, I filed a summons which I needed in order to quickly serve a California resident in order to prevent my case from being removed to federal court. It was a rush order that cost $75 extra.

One Legal on Wednesday emailed me that the filing was under court review. That was a lie. On Thursday, I contacted the the court to learn why my summons was not returned. The court told me nothing had been filed. It also told me that the ability to file electronically needed to be reset, meaning it was impossible for anyone, including One Legal, to efile in my case.

I called One Legal help line on Friday and asked why they told me my document was before the court when it was impossible to efile in my case. I was told I would receive an email response as customer service could not help me.

Today, on Monday, I finally receive an email from One Legal. They repeated what the court told me, that no one could file in the case and they would ask the to set it for efiling. They did not address their telling me that my summons was before the court awaiting review when that was impossible.

Meanwhile, I used File and Serve Express on Friday and received my summons that afternoon, after the court set up efiling at my request.

Don’t hire liars to do your filings. Don’t hire One Legal
