Broken automated moderation: punishes honest sellers, ignores actual scammers
1. Automated Trademark Strikes with Zero Human Oversight. I listed a pair of original Asics sneakers, only to have my listing deleted due to an automated copyright claim from the trademark owner alleging I was selling counterfeits. I had full proof of authenticity. When I contacted OLX.ua support, they washed their hands of the issue and told me to contact Asics directly. It turned into an endless loop: Asics uses an AI bot to scan sites and mass-report listings, and their support simply bounced me around without resolving anything. The core issue is that OLX.ua blindly accepts these automated reports without any human verification. If a real person had checked my listing, they would have seen it was 100% legitimate. Now, I am left at risk of having my account permanently banned because of an AI's mistake.
2. Flawed Word-Trigger Moderation That Wastes Time and Money. I paid to promote a listing for a smartphone, but it was immediately rejected for "violating rules" with absolutely zero specific explanation. After wasting a lot of time troubleshooting, I realized their system triggered simply because I used the phrase "unoriginal charging device" (meaning I was including a compatible third-party charger, not a fake phone). The system falsely flagged it as a counterfeit product. Worse, OLX doesn't allow you to edit a rejected paid listing—you have to delete it and recreate it entirely from scratch. It’s incredibly frustrating to spend money and time only to be penalized by a poorly configured keyword filter.
3. Hypocrisy and Tolerance of Actual Scammers. You might assume from the above that OLX.ua strictly fights counterfeits, but my experience as a buyer proves the exact opposite. I found a seller openly listing clearly fake products (computer mice). When I contacted them, the seller was incredibly aggressive, impolite, and used abusive language. I reported both the fake listings and the seller's behavior to OLX.ua. The result? Absolutely nothing. The listings are still active, and the abusive seller faced zero consequences.
Ultimately, OLX.ua relies on broken automated systems that punish honest users while allowing actual scammers and abusive sellers to operate freely. Terrible user experience.
