Do not use offer up for your…dealership

Do not use offer up for your dealership. I was offered a special 3 month promotion. It did not drive one sale!! After the the months I was told that I would have to send an email to cancel and I would have an additional charge
For next cycle!!! Not what I was told upfront.
Also way too difficult to cancel!!! No Thanks!!

Account disabled for no good reason

I recently decided to give offerup a try after years of having the app but never utilizing it. I was looking to purchase a queen size mattress and a few hours later my account was disabled due to violating community guidelines. No warning, no explanation just disabled. I ended up reaching out to their support for them to explain to me what I did wrong and received an email back stating that they reserve the right to deactivate anyone and for any reason without any excuses. That was the extent of the conversation. Never in my life have I been deactivated from any platform and in this case it was for no good reason. I guess it was a blessing in disguise. I’m just giving a heads up to anyone that’s thinking about using their app or website that that’s how they operate their business. Just be aware!

They don’t offer, they take!!!

My experience with OfferUp and their customer support reps has been extremely disappointing. I signed up expecting a simple free trial, but somehow ended up being charged for two separate subscriptions that I never intentionally agreed to keep. One for 19.99 for “Premium” membership and then yet another one for 8.47 for special advertising for selling items. I don’t even have anything posted for sale!!!!! Make that make sense, please! As soon as I realized what happened, I tried to fix the issue, but the charges had already gone through. That leaves customers feeling like they were trapped into paying for something they didn’t clearly intend to purchase. It’s frustrating and honestly makes me feel cheated out of my money.

I am publicly asking OfferUp to review this situation and issue a refund for these charges..

I would strongly warn others to be extremely careful with any “free trial” or subscription on this platform. What looks simple can quickly turn into unexpected charges.

Very disappointing experience and not what I expected from a major marketplace platform.

Safety Issues for Females

I reported a User who claims they showed up at my house and I NEVER gave him my address. Several days later, he again mentioned coming to my house. I reported this again to OfferUp. They never investigated the first concern. Another User requested to pay me via Venmo then said he'd come by at midnight to pick it up. FEMALES PLEASE BE AWARE OF PREDATORS ON THIS PLATFORM.

App has sold out to greed/advertising!

This site/app has gotten even worse over last 6-months and become a dumping ground for endless advertising and scams. You can basically make 2-search selections and then have to sit through advertisements. Their new Kalshi advertisement doesn’t even have a closure so you get stuck until you reboot your phone! The company seems to have lost its integrity, accountability, and quality control. Don’t let their generic responses to reviews sway you, the app has become a wasteland. Another example how corporate greed has once again killed a reputable, community based vision.

I got ripped off by someone

I got ripped off by someone who sold me a high-end phone that was brand new in the box and was so close to the real thing that it fooled the person at T-Mobile when I took it to them to set up. Offer Up doesn't protect you like eBay does when buying something. Bad business.

OfferUp is useless

OfferUp is useless. I posted my first listing, which is exactly the same as the others I posted on FB Marketplace, Craigslist, and Ebay. Within a few hours, my listing was removed as it violated their posting rules: "because it contained an inaccurate or manipulative title, description, or price."

Whatever that means. The same exact ad was not a problems for the other places I posted it. I can't imagine what their problem is.

So I browse around on the app and don't find anything that answer my questions. I found my way to the support tab in the app and that was also a useless pursuit. It's impossible to fill out the support form because it doesn't open!

Just now, I see where a live person entered into the chat and said that they needed to look into this a little more offline. "This may require transferring your concern to another, specialized team, but we'll be working diligently toward a resolution."

Wow. Knock yourself out; I'll be deleting my account.

Not Offerups fault…

Offerup was a good site for local used items at reasonable prices. Unfortunately, people have become so twisted the site is now worthless. Twice in 2025 I drove to an agreed upon location (over 30 miles) to meet a seller and buy their item, and on both occasions , no one showed up. Not the websites fault just today's sick society.

My account was deleted

My account was deleted without warning — terrible experience

I’m extremely disappointed with OfferUp.

My account was completely removed without any notice, explanation, or option to correct anything.
And the worst part — it wasn’t even a product listing violation. They didn’t remove the listing, they deleted my entire account over a single post.

No message.
No warning.
No appeal.

I’ve been a loyal user and never abused the platform. If there was something wrong with my listing, OfferUp could have simply removed the item or notified me — instead, they wiped out my entire profile instantly.

This level of moderation is unreasonable, unprofessional, and makes it impossible to trust the platform.
If OfferUp punishes users by deleting full accounts for minor issues without communication, many people will eventually leave.

Even Craigslist — which is known for strict moderation — only removes a post if something is wrong. They don’t delete the whole account over a single listing.

OfferUp should learn from that. Punishing users by erasing their accounts instead of simply taking down one item is completely unfair and disrespectful to the community.

Very disappointed.

Offerup Sux

Well I had been negotiating with a seller,Rob and he just pulled up and split unlisted all his items and was gone with no explanation or warning. Offerup sux, they specifically recommend not to use PAYPAL THE SAFEST ONLINE PAYMENT METHOD because of fraud and they encourage seller's to ghost buyers that they don't want to sell to and now to top it off they have you search for items by zip code to promote localized buying. Hey if I want to buy local there is a trading post or the classified section of the newspaper. Stick me with a fork I'm done. Seeyalaterbye bottoms up I mean Offerup.

RETALIATION/BAD BUSINESS PRACTICE WILL BE REPORTED TO FTC

I am filing this complaint to document a serious issue with Offer Up’s handling of both user safety and seller protections.

I was targeted by an Offer Up user who attempted to scam me while I was selling a Tiffany & Co. bracelet and a personal computer. The buyer falsely claimed to have sent payment through Cash App, then provided fabricated screenshots and a fake letter impersonating Cash App support. He further claimed he had sent an “additional $200” and instructed me to return that amount once my funds were released.

Recognizing this as a scam, I contacted Cash App directly and confirmed that no payment of any kind had been sent. I reported the buyer to Offer Up and submitted clear proof of the attempted fraud. Offer Up stated that the buyer’s account was removed.

Since reporting this incident, I have experienced what appears to be retaliation by Offer Up. My legitimate listings for authentic Tiffany & Co. jewelry continue to be removed repeatedly under the claim that they violate policy. This is inaccurate and unjustified.

The items I am selling are:

Authentic Tiffany & Co. sterling silver Heart Tag Toggle Necklace

Authentic Tiffany & Co. sterling silver Heart Tag Toggle Bracelet

Both items include:

Original receipts

Original Tiffany & Co. packaging

Clear photos showing authenticity

These listings do not violate Offer Up policy, yet they are continually taken down while other similar listings remain active.

Offer Up’s actions suggest inconsistent enforcement of policy and raise concerns about retaliatory behavior against users who report fraud. This discourages sellers from reporting scams and undermines trust in the platform.

I am requesting:

A clear explanation for why authentic, documented items are being removed

Consistent and fair application of Offer Up policies

Protection for users who report fraudulent activity rather than punishment

Until these issues are addressed, sellers should be aware that reporting scams may result in unjust consequences to their accounts.

OfferUp Jackoffs

The problem is not so much sellers as the so called "buyers". There has got to be a way to remove the flakes from this app. Especially people that will not respond which is a chronic problem.
Then you get bombarded with stupid questions.
All of which could be answered if they were to simply read the post.
Then you have the address collectors that come unglued if you will not give them your address.
It's all crybabies
Whether it's Offer Up, Marketplace or Craigslist, anything coming from any these places is just a headache.

OfferUp no More

Sites like OfferUp are largely unregulated and can operate with little accountability. OfferUp is well aware that more than half of the items listed are not actually available for sale. Many listings are simply forgotten posts from sellers who no longer use the app, or items that were sold long ago and never removed.

Beyond that, scams are rampant. Highly sought-after items are frequently listed at unrealistically low prices, clearly designed to lure buyers. Out of greed or urgency, buyers are persuaded to communicate outside the app via text, where they are ultimately defrauded. OfferUp has been notified of these issues countless times, yet has consistently ignored the warnings and allowed these deceptive listings to remain active.

Finally, the removal of the shipping option has effectively destroyed the app’s usefulness altogether.

The app and the navigation of the…

The app and the navigation of the entire process is ridiculous ... You can barely access, communicate and many messages come in a day or two later, people offering potential deals that now have lapsed and they've moved onto something else because of the delay ....

I need to build an app and raise over $200M, at least mine will have the capability to communicate with each other ...

Can't shop nationwide?

Can't shop nationwide?! No more shipping? WTH! What a joke of a company. I live in a very rural area, so now I can only shop in BFE? I'm done with OfferUp. God I hope someone will buy this company and turn it back into something like it once was. Can't believe they would go back to the stone age. Fire the administration immediately. Deleting my account.
