The website could be a lot better

The website is messy. There is info about places but in confusing sub categories. Firstly you want clear info what there is in the areas you are visiting and how to get there. Then go into more detail about individual attractions. And in this day and age you would think there would be a mobile app by now.

Mackintosh Tea Rooms

Pre booked a lunch here . Made welcome at the entrance by Chloe , she took us up our table and allowed us to settle in for a few minutes. The tea rooms had a lovely ambiance and a variation of different size table settings .She then took a drinks order from us and allowed us time to ponder over the menu . We had a pot of tea and a latte to start , we then ordered the baked potato with haggis and grated cheese , we asked if we could have the cheese in before the haggis, which they were more than happy to oblige. The dish came with 2x generous baked potatoes , haggis & cheese and a side salad . The portion size were extremely generous . The staff were friendly and made us feel valued as customers. We never felt at any point hurried. Our bill cost for two was reasonably priced at a cost of £38.15 . I will definitely return and try the afternoon tea next time . They also have a gift shop you can purchase from , I also love that it is part of the National Trust for Scotland . We would highly recommend a visit .

Visit to Seaton Delaval

We visited Seaton Delaval on our way tot the ferry to the Netherlands. We saw that a painful disaster has been turned in an interesting reconstruction. A beautiful garden next to it and far-away views. Nice to see a lot of schoolchildren.

I'm actually completely disgusted that the Scottish government allow ridiculous parking charges, its a definite grab all you can attitude, I will not be going back to any Scottish national heritage trust managed site the clearly just extorts visitors foreign local. Ridiculously overpricedcar Park charges and should be scrapped. Pay to park, pay to enter , I'm just waiting for the charge to leave to come into operation.
disgusted,ashamed Scotsman .

They owe us money

Having been members for years, I was appalled to find that - even though they had details of our ages etc, they had not shifted us from the family membership to the OAP membership. I told them so. Nothing happened, until the following month, when they charged us for family membership again.

My wife called them and finally got them to acknowledge their mistake. Did they return the wrongly appropriated funds? No!

We have been members for ages

We have been members for ages, but our new cards did not arrive in June. They have been issued 3 times altogether and none of them have arrived. Spoke to a very offhand lady today, no apology! She didn't seem to even acknowledge that they had a problem. Eventually she offered to send them again, this time by recorded delivery. Of course they have had our money weeks ago!

Disappointed

I have just been to Glenfinnan monument NTS car park. I have been turned away as I am in a VW Crafter camper conversion, medium wheel base, and have been told it’s too big for the parking spaces.

We found a space that the van would not stick out of, and offered to prove was able to fit without taking up any further space, but was still turned away and told to use the paying car park next door.

Not what I expect when I am a member.

I wouldn’t mind but there were other van type vehicles in the car park. Just because I am in a higher vehicle it doesn’t mean the foot print is bigger. There were also coaches in the car park.

As we wished to visit the viaduct and monument this was a great disappointment as having to pay for the car park next door means I’ve had to pay twice. I am also disappointed as I joined the Scottish NT solely for my trip around Scotland. This was around 4pm and the car park was half empty.
I have been welcomed at other Scottish NT sights, with no problem, in my vehicle.

Terrible customer service

My national trust for Scotland membership card expired at the end of March this year. I didn't receive a new card either in the post or digitally.
Throughout April I emailed and called. No answers to emails and I gave up on the first call after waiting 20 mins.
Today I finally got through and was told a new card will be sent out but it isn't possible to credit my account for the April membership I wasn't able to use. I was assured a temporary card would be emailed to me - which it was but it expired in 2023!
The Customer service for national trust Scotland is appalling and it just makes me want to cancel my membership!

I have just spent a lot of wasted time trying to renew my membership of the NTS for Scotland. Fed up of being told my call is important to them. If it is that important I suggest they employ more people to answer their misnamed 'Supporter Care Team'. Tried online but it would not recognise my email/password. I have far better things to do with my time than to sit listening to their outgoing message or waiting for them to send me a link to set a new password - which has not arrived over 45 minutes later!

Had a lovely visit to your Bessie’s cafe in Culross. The staff here are always so warm and friendly with homemade cakes the cherry bakewell was delicious. They even think of your dog by bringing a bowl of water to the table. I will definitely be visiting again.

Booked Auchenvhin at Rockcliffe via Sykes for 30th November 2024. We received a call from Sykes at 3:30pm Friday 29th saying that the accommodation would not be habitable. We were offered an alternative, however the agent needed to check that it would be ready to be occupied. At 5:30pm we called them back to find they their offices were now shut until Monday.

Sykes and the Scottish National Trust are both appalling. I would not recommend either and if I could award zero I would.

What a poor experience.

Received renewal papers, no pre-paid envelope included as it said, didn't say how much I had to pay, looked on line, found it eventually.Tried to pay on line, had all my details but wouldn't accept password even after I put in a new one.
Then got on phone, kept telling me I could talk to someone soon, then said my call was important to them.None of this was true.Eventually someone answered. It had taken 18 minutes to renew. One woman answered the phone, then to pay I was put through to someone else and I struggled to understand her English What a nightmare is it worth the trouble

Every year I have problems renewing my membership. Without fail. By the time it gets sorted I’ve lost at least a month of membership.
This will be my last year of buying this membership, it’s a lot more hassle than it’s worth.

SO HELPFUL

Hello there... I have just had reason to speak to National Trust Scotland, honestly the two people I spoke to couldn't have been more helpful, John & Julie both people went out of their way to be so helpful and my request was actioned without question.

So well done National Trust Scotland, I am a member of NT England and planning a 5 day trip to Loch Lomond area next week for my birthday, so John & Julie, thanks again for being so nice 😊
