My experience went like this:
I saw an advertisement on social media basically saying I can “win” a branded bag* for EUR 3. Of course I clicked the link because I saw it was shared by a reputable shopping center* in the Netherlands (later on I realized that the social media account was a fake account / spoof account of the shopping center I know).
After I “won” a branded bag, I gave my personal details and processed the EUR 3 payment for the branded bag using my credit card. I completed the transaction quite quickly because I saw there was a notification on the payment page that the “offer” was only valid within the next 5 minutes.
After payment, I got an email basically saying I paid for a 3-day subscription to a company called Nowperfumes or Nowperfumescom. Again I paid for a branded bag and not for a 3-day subscription. So I was confused why suddenly another company was mentioned in the email instead of the branded bag. Further note that Nowperfumes or Nowperfumescome was not mentioned anywhere (not on the social media advertisement nor on the payment page). It was only mentioned in the email AFTER I’ve made the payment. So obviously there was an intention to deceive and defraud customers by using name of well-known brand. Further after a couple of hours, I received another email basically saying that they will charge me an additional EUR 69.85 if I don’t cancel my subscription after 3 days. Of course I contacted the customer service right away to have my account and subscription cancelled. I was then informed by the customer service that the cancellation can only be done after 14 days which was unacceptable given I will be charged another EUR 69.85 if I don’t cancel within 3 days. At this point she already processed the cancellation and charged my card another cancellation fee of EUR 8.95. Again, I did not agree to this cancellation fee because I did not agree to the subscription in the first place. I just wanted to buy the branded bag for EUR 3.
I called my bank to have my card blocked and to report the transactions.
I researched the company and I found out that this scam has been going on for quite sometime now. Note this company has been operating under different names. Too bad I didn’t have the chance to research (which I normally do) because again I was only given 5 mins to complete the transaction. Nonetheless, it’s an expensive lesson learned for me.
Therefore I’m sharing my experience so other people will also learn from my mistakes and to help them recognize common red flags for scams like this.
*I did not name the brand and the shopping center because in my opinion they are not involved in this transaction.
DON'T
DON'T! this site allows you to order goods they do not have - orders are subsequently cancelled - any online operation like this must have up to date stock info - can't be hard in this day and age. Of course they continue to take subscription payments with no refund option and even charge you to cancel outside of the 14 day period (in which they continue to take payments).... :(
I did not subscribe to this
I did not subscribe to this, I’ve had money taken from my ACC without authorisation. I have now contacted them to cancel, the cancellation period is 14 days!!! . The bank have said if I have anymore money taken I can make a claim!! Not happy
Scam
I saw how without my authorisation you guys deducted around 73CAD. What's wrong with you guys? Only got a student to scam?
Quick and easy to deal with
Quick and easy to deal with
I'm happy with all products received and the quick response from the company. Speaking with the service team helped me get exactly what I was looking for.
The reason i give 5 stars is the fact that I can’t fault the service and no problems when I chose to cancel my subscription. I may return in the future when I have a job that I can enjoy these options again.
FRAUD
I did NOT SUBSCRIBE TO THIS and funds are being deducted from my account!! I have reported it and nothing has been done!!
Stole my money
Hello community I'm going to tell you about my experience with nowperfumes.com
This early site collects its members in an illegal way, first of all it is advertisements and offers from very well-known companies in the world in order to trust these offers for example and according to my experience (a McDonald's game: you play and you win an offer with a knockdown price / another example of reductions by the Ali Express site and so on)
What I did was that I participated in this McDonald's game (we all know that McDonald's made this kind of games, even they are found in their application) when I went to the payment I was on the official site from mcdo; according to the address which was displayed in the address bar; when I validated the payment I received an e-mail which informed me that I had become a member of this site… after I contacted these people that I am not interested in their site they answered me by a confirmation of cancellation and that I would never have refunded my money these which are taken in a fraudulent way worse still are taken the double amount that they are indicated, when I claim are my convinced that this non-refundable money and that I accepted the conditions of membership that I have not read this site trying to build their wealth by this type of participation and perhaps that a chimerical site exploit the help of a site of shopping and took the agents of others because they have all the information on the members' bank cards
Unfortunately I have not found a way to have my rights since this site is located elsewhere in my country but I will not be silent and I will try to share this scam and illegal experience with everyone
They stole my money
I stupidly clicked on a Facebook link.
I stupidly clicked on a Facebook link and 'won' a perfume advent calendar. They took my details to send the 'prize' on and also took £3 for postage.
I next received emails welcoming me to NowPerfumes and then received other emails advising that my next payment would be taken in 3 days. At no time was there any mention of me taking membership and there was no involvement by me of choosing a level of membership yet I seem to have taken Gold membership.
I immediately went to the site to cancel this but they won't let you cancel within the first 24 hours. So I went to Live Chat on their page and they cancelled for me BUT then said that the cancellation would not be effective until 3 January 2024. This is after they are planning to take a payment of 48.95 euros!!
I have now discovered that they have applied for a payment of £7.71 which is pending and I have been on to my bank to refute this as I have been given no indication of what this is for. The live chat just kept repeating automated text about it having been cancelled and not taking effect for 14 days. A scam in my eyes.
UPDATE 02/01/2024
I was contacted on 25/12/2023 by Nowperfumes apologising for any misunderstandings. They were also offering me a full refund but in order to trigger this refund, they politely asked me to upgrade my review from 1 star to at least 3.
I was sceptical of this offer and countered their offer with an offer of my own which was to update my review to state that they had been in touch and that I would update my review again on receipt of the refund but declined to upgrade the stars until the refund had actually been made.
I received another polite email from Nowperfumes again reiterating that I was required to upgrade my review before they could initiate the refund. I decided not to respond any further at this point as I was dubious I would see any refund. My bank has now taken over the dispute on my behalf for the payment of £7.71.
The £3 postage I paid for the Advent Calendar I 'won' was paid but no Calendar has been received as yet and I am of course sceptical that I will ever see that. I would love to be proved wrong and would be happy to amend my review to reflect that but I won't be holding my breath waiting for it to happen.
UPDATE: 03/01/2024
I appreciate the polite response from Nowperfumes.com but cannot accept that this business is unrelated to this issue unless there are two companies with the same name.
Nowperfumes.com is the name of the business that billed my bank account both for the delivery charges for the advent calendar (still not received nor refunded) and also for the unexplained charge debited to my account (disputed via my bank as I did not authorise this).
Nowperfumes.com is the name of the company that notified me that I would be getting billed for membership which I had no knowledge of signing up for never mind choosing a level of membership for.
Nowperfumes.com is the name of the company website that I visited and conversed with LiveChat and cancelled said membership immediately after being notified by email that I had somehow been signed up for it without even knowing.
Nowperfumes.com is the name of the company (the operator coincidentally also called Terry) that emailed me after I put up my original review offering me a refund if I upgraded said review to at least 3 stars.
I have simply stated facts and this is my personal review of my interaction with a company called Nowperfumes.com.
