Novo is banking built for independent businesses. Get paid, move money, and manage cash flow with a free business checking account and a platform actually designed for small business owners — no branches, no monthly fees, no minimum balances. What does Novo offer? Novo brings together the tools independent businesses need to manage their money from one platform. Open a free business checking account with no monthly fees or minimum balance requirements. Send unlimited invoices and accept payments online. Organize funds for taxes, payroll, and savings with Novo Reserves, and track and manage business expenses with real-time transaction insights. Connect the tools you already use — QuickBooks, Stripe, Shopify, Square, and more — and access your money fast with faster payouts from payment processors. How is Novo different from traditional banks? Novo was built specifically for independent businesses rather than adapted from consumer or corporate banking. Everything runs from one dashboard, so owners spend less time on banking and more time on their business. Is Novo secure? Business security is built in: deposits are FDIC-insured through Novo's partner bank, and accounts include fraud monitoring, secure card controls, and instant card freezing. Who is Novo for? Novo serves over 250,000 small businesses — professional services, e-commerce sellers, contractors, trades, retail, hospitality, and wellness companies — all looking for a modern alternative to traditional business banking. To learn more, visit novo.co. Novo Platform Inc. (“Novo”) is a fintech, not a bank. Banking services provided by Middlesex Federal Savings, F.A., Member FDIC. Deposits are insured for up to $250,000 through our partner bank, Middlesex Federal Savings, Member FDIC.

Novo has a very customer friendly process. The tools are very intuitive and not complicated. Also the approval process and not a long and drawn out process. I would recommend them to any small business owner.

This is my first time banking with Novo for our business. The process was smooth. Approval takes a little while so just be patient.
Only way to check deposit is to violate your privacy
Let’s me deposit money via ach but won’t let me do a mobile check without a full id and face scan because of fraud risks?
If someone wants to add money to my account I’m not gonna stop them. But to stop me from depositing my own money without giving my face data and ID to a 3rd party vendor using AI to do a
deposit? You’ve gotta be joking me.
No data is secure it’s 2026 and people still accept the lie.
Response to reply:
I do wish those were real alternatives however they are not as they don’t solve the problem. I have a check and I need to deposit it and I can’t.
A real alternative would be, here sign this waiver that you wish not to be extra verified.
Or, hey I know you don’t want to give your biometric data to a third party how about you give us a call and we can verify via phone or video call etc.
Since there is no such thing as secure data, I’m not a fan that the response seems like it provides solutions and alternatives when it doesn’t. Makes me feel as though it’s just fluff to counter a review and that the concern isn’t being looked into as a real workflow blockage for customers.

Odd practices and terrible customer support
They give you specific instructions to write “for mobile deposit at novo” on the check, then proceeded to decline the check. Now this check is useless and they are not willing to go into detail or look at it again. I’ve seen others with the same issue online.
Nice dashboard, but good luck moving your own money without getting flagged
I opened a Novo business account in April, 2026, and funded it the same day. The dashboard is genuinely well-designed: clean interface, easy transaction categorization, and the ability to attach receipts to transfers is genuinely useful for expense tracking. That's where the good experience ended.
The next day, I initiated a series of ACH transfers back to my personal account to reimburse myself for business setup costs, with receipts attached to each one. Several went through fine. One, for $81, was rejected. When I asked why, I was told my account was under "internal investigation."
What followed was a week-long support ordeal involving at least five different representatives. I was repeatedly told they could not disclose what I was being investigated for, what policy I had allegedly violated, or when the investigation would conclude. At one point I was told Novo "cannot disclose specific policies for risk and security reasons." When I asked what the secret policies were in the very same exchange, I was told there are "no secret policies." That is a direct contradiction, and frankly, it's gas lighting. A policy that can be enforced against you but cannot be disclosed to you is, by definition, a secret policy.
When I expressed frustration, without profanity, without personal attacks, I was immediately met with a warning about Novo's "zero-tolerance policy for abusive language." Being threatened with a conduct violation for asking why my own money was being restricted is a deflection tactic, plain and simple. It's designed to put you on the defensive rather than address the substance of your concern.
The eventual explanation, after a full week and multiple escalations, was that my account was new and multiple outbound transfers shortly after funding triggered an automated security flag. If this knowledge had been communicated to me from day one, the entire ordeal could have been avoided. Instead, I spent a week in operational limbo, unable to conduct basic bookkeeping for my new business, while being made to feel like I had done something wrong. I still walk on eggshells when wondering if it's "safe" to do a transaction. It shouldn't be like that.
The fundamental problem is this: if you need to move your own money, say, to reimburse yourself for business expenses, you have to worry about whether an opaque automated system will flag you, with no recourse and no transparency. The support team's solution was to suggest shady workarounds like using Venmo, mailed checks, or pulling funds from my personal bank instead. In other words, the advertised ACH functionality comes with an invisible tripwire, and if you trigger it, you're on your own.
Novo has a genuinely nice product on the surface. But a bank that can't tell you why it restricted your funds, threatens you for asking, and takes a week to admit it was just an automated flag is not a bank I can confidently trust with my business.

Starting up a business while working a full time healthcare job is stressful enough! Kris Angela from Novo ensured my application process went smoothly! I appreciate the team and their efforts!
Web and mobile apps are excellent
Web and mobile apps are excellent, intuitive and easy to use. Also its one of the few free business checking accounts available. Highly recommended.
Don't trust them - go elsewhere if you don't "fit in the box"
If you have a totally standard "in the box" situation, these guys are probably fine, but anything even slightly out of the ordinary and I suggest you avoid them. I have four LLCs and I was going to switch all of them to Novo, away from one of the big national banks. I opened the first account, no problem. It was a business I started in 2018, so it was easy.
Then I tried to open the account for an LLC I just formed, to promote our YouTube channel @sailingsometuesday. They rejected the account. Why? I have no idea because they wouldn't tell me.
Even worse, the didn't notify me AT ALL. I have to email their customer service for an update, at which time they told me I'd been rejected. I asked why, even though I was already know to their company, and had another business already open. No answer. Just a bunch of boilerplate customer service drivel.
Maybe it was because we live on the boat now, and they had questions about my permanent address? Maybe because I was out of the country when I opened the account, so the IP address was suspicious? I could understand any of these reasons....
But what I cannot accept is they never even bothered to contact me. It would be so easy! "Hey, we want to confirm some details with you." But no. Nothing. No email. No phone call. Nothing.
That tells me that if you ever have an issue with them, any concerns that don't "fit in the box" this company will leave you high and dry because they obviously don't care. They want their "easy and standard" accounts and any special situations can just go pound sand. EVEN FOR AN EXISTING CUSTOMER.
So, my take is, avoid this company at all costs. They are not to be trusted to provide a satisfactory customer experience except in the most "standard" situations. Terrible.
