Written by the company

No Strings Public Relations is a journalist-led PR agency helping brands earn real media coverage that builds credibility, improves search visibility, and drives commercial growth. Founded by former journalists, our team understands how newsrooms actually work. Instead of sending mass press releases or generic pitches, we focus on creating stories, insights, and expert commentary that journalists genuinely want to cover. We secure earned editorial coverage across leading publications in the UK, US, and Canada. This helps brands strengthen their reputation, reach new audiences, and improve their visibility in both traditional search and emerging AI-driven search platforms. Our services include: PR Plan – ongoing earned media coverage designed to build brand authority and consistent press momentum. PR Backlinks – high-authority editorial backlinks secured through genuine media coverage, helping improve SEO and domain authority. Online Brand Media Mentions – guaranteed brand mentions in trusted media publications, helping businesses build credibility and social proof. Because we work with hundreds of brands across multiple regions, our model benefits from economies of scale that many traditional PR agencies do not have. This allows us to deliver professional PR services at more accessible prices while still focusing on real journalism and editorial relationships. We work with founders, growing businesses, established brands, and public figures across a wide range of industries. Our approach is simple: PR should deliver real commercial value. When PR helps businesses grow, partnerships last. Real coverage. Real backlinks. Real results.

Unprofessional, did not deliver what they said they would, intimidation when questioned

I have read a previous response from a company called Walnut, and it is identical to the experience I had.

Following a brilliant conversation and onboarding proposal, I paid our first months fee in a 3 month contract.

I was refused the option to contact them via email or whatsapp, as they insisted I use the app called 'Monday'. They gave me a few minutes of instruction to use the app, then sent a request a few days later.

I responded within 48 hours and left the rest to them.

3 and a half weeks had gone by and I had received no progress update, as promised by them on the onboarding call.

I thought i would reach out to them over email as I received no response over the app.

An email response was received 3 days later to inform me that they had not received my message on the app. They later found the message, and this is where Jordan's entire personality changed. He blamed me for the delay. He said that due to me not using a certain tag on the app, they did not receive the message, and therefore, made no progress.

I was surprised at the lack of professionalism and accountability however, I wanted to give him a chance to mend the relationship. I arranged a phone call the next day to which Riley answered. As explained that i would like to remedy our relationship before moving forward Riley said it was not his department and he is in charge of publishing, not customer support.

Therefore, I arranged a call with Jordan for the next day.

During this call, when I mentioned I had lost trust in No Strings PR due to the lack of accountability and remorse for wasting so much time, Jordan seemed to take this personally. He had mistaken my business criticism for a personal ego attack (not my intention). Jordan's attitude towards me was that of a persecutor and he would not allow me to speak. He gave me an ultimatum to release me from my contract without a refund, or continue as normal.

Following the behaviour I experienced from both Jordan and Riley, I chose to end my contract with them and request a refund. I noticed that in all negative reviews, No Strings took an approach to inform everyone of how they ended a relationship, they did the same with me, which is clearly incorrect.

Upon hearing my instruction to end the contract, Jordan was not polite to me, he started to say ugly things to me with articles he found about me on the internet and said he did not want to work with me anyway. He referenced a business that i was not affiliated with in an attempt to regain some dignity by hurting me.

I was shocked, as you can imagine.

I then received an email saying they are cancelling the relationship (strange, after I ended the contract 10 minutes earlier) and the reason is due to me not being tech savvy.

We have submitted legal documents relating to the refund and have to date had no reply.

After reading your response, you have proven me correct in my explanation of your characteristics. Please refrain from telling none truths via the below statements:

‘We decided to terminate the contract’ - this is a fabrication on your behalf.

‘We have reviewed all recorded calls and there is no evidence of poor characteristics’ - this is a fabrication, unless you believe the way you spoke to me to be professional. I invite you to post our last conversation if you recorded it, the general public can be the judge of how ‘professional’ you were.

I would recommend anyone reading this to avoid No Strings PR if you wish for a timely and professional delivery of service.

We’re sorry to read this review. Having reviewed our correspondence and call recordings, it doesn’t reflect our experience of the engagement.

Clients can contact us via email, scheduled calls, and our client portal, and we do not prevent clients from emailing us. We’ve used Monday.com for over seven years because clients value its simplicity and the way it documents activity, results, and conversations in one place. When using the portal, messages must be addressed to the relevant team member to ensure they’re received; notifications are also sent via email, and replying directly to those emails posts the response to the client portal and notifies our team. These processes are explained during onboarding and documented within the system.

The required onboarding information wasn’t completed, which meant delivery couldn’t proceed. When a follow-up was received around two weeks later, on the first day back from the Christmas break, we responded by acknowledging that this could have been picked up sooner, offering to extend onboarding, and resetting the project start date so no time or budget was lost. Five scheduled calls took place during the first month to try to resolve the issue and obtain the required onboarding information.

As it became clear the engagement was not the right fit, we made the decision to cancel the service at the first renewal point. The remaining term was waived and no further charges were taken. While we don’t agree with the characterisation of events above, we consider the matter closed.

Even with over a decade of experience, we continually review and improve our processes, including strengthening our vetting process, adding an onboarding reminder that messages sent without a recipient aren’t received and reiterating other contact options, implementing an additional account check ahead of holiday periods, and reminding clients that we typically respond within a few hours during working days, so repeated follow-ups aren’t usually necessary as part of our normal way of working.

Unprofessional, Defensive & Poor Value

I was with No Strings PR for 4 months, paying £249 per month (almost GBP1000 total), on their PR package. During the onboarding call and from their website, I was led to expect around 2–4 media placements per month.

In reality, I only received one syndicated MSN coverage with minimal visibility or traction, a result far below what was implied. When I raised this professionally and suggested reviewing the strategy and the subscription until we caught up on missed coverage for the 4 months, their response was incredibly unprofessional and defensive.

Rather than showing accountability or a willingness to collaborate on a fair solution, their tone was immature and condescending — almost as if my feedback had hurt someone’s ego. It felt like dealing with an insecure individual rather than a professional PR team that cares about delivering value.
I simply asked for results aligned with what I’d paid for as any paying client has the right to do, or at least an open discussion on how to make things right. Instead, they took it personally and refused to engage constructively leaving me no choice but to close my account.

What’s more worrying is that their claimed journalist network seems inactive; many don’t appear to engage with their media rooms. This means you’re effectively asked to keep paying for 6+ months (at £249/month) on blind faith that “their process” will eventually work with no real guarantees or transparency. And if you give feedback or ask questions they will treat you unprofessionally and keep your money.
For small businesses or founders, this can be a costly mistake. Trust in PR should be built on delivery, communication, and professionalism, not defensiveness or vague promises. My experience with No Strings PR sadly reflected none of that.

My reply to their response: Thank you for your response, but I want to clarify a few factual inaccuracies:

I was on the £249/month PR package, not the £149 one. Your own website clearly mentions “guaranteed press coverage” for this plan — which I did not receive despite paying nearly £1,000 across four months.

I was upfront before subscribing about what I could and couldn’t provide in terms of experts. I have the emails to prove this. The decision to onboard Walnut was made with full knowledge of that.

I have been consistently proactive — I personally provided 6+ article drafts, topic ideas, and new angles (most of which were created by me, not your team). Yet, none of those were successfully placed, despite repeated assurances on monthly calls that I would start seeing progress soon.

The issue isn’t about “misalignment” — it’s about lack of delivery. Even with all the content prepared, no meaningful coverage was secured.

The tone of communication I received when I raised these concerns was defensive and condescending rather than professional or solution-oriented — which is why I felt compelled to close the account.

I wish this had been handled with more accountability and transparency rather than shifting blame onto the client after under-delivering.

Hi Richa,

I wanted to personally respond to your review. We’re genuinely sorry to receive it — it’s the first negative review we’ve had on this platform, and it’s never nice to have a disappointed client, regardless of the cause.

I’m sorry you were disappointed when we chose to close your account today. We did try to go back and forth with you to bring things to a close amicably, including our usual promise to forward on any future journalist interest and offering advice on other avenues you could explore.

I’ve reread the messages, listened back to your calls, and reviewed your proposal, T&Cs, and the messages between you and the team. I genuinely don’t believe the team were unprofessional towards you, but I fully accept that you were keen to continue working with us and that your feelings are valid.

It’s clear that we were transparent about the service, the lack of guarantees on this model, and the strategy required to promote Walnut effectively. We haven’t experienced this kind of misunderstanding before, and I’m genuinely sorry that along the way, this has been misinterpreted. I can assure you there are no hard feelings on our side — we were simply focused on ensuring you didn’t continue to spend money on a service that wasn’t the right strategic fit.

We are a low-fee, flexible PR service on a monthly rolling basis. Our model only works through long-term, transparent partnerships — which is how we make a small profit on our low fees. Communication and alignment are essential to secure results (as reflected in our many positive reviews, case studies, and press features).

We’re selective about who we work with, and if the fit isn’t right — as in this case — we prefer to be upfront to avoid clients paying for something unsuitable. Once it became clear that the agreed strategy couldn’t be delivered and our ability to secure meaningful, top-tier coverage was reduced, we made the business decision to pause the relationship. I’m sorry we didn’t do this sooner.

You opted for our entry-level Essentials PR Subscription (from £149/month) with a 20% discount applied. This model does not guarantee press coverage. You seem to be referring to the webpages of our other products, which do offer guaranteed coverage. Yesterday, we sent you extracts from your call transcripts, proposal, and T&Cs, which reflect this clearly.

For Walnut, we proposed a three-pronged strategy: expert commentary, founder storytelling, and selective product promotion. As an app positioned as “expert-led,” sharing professional insights on mental health and relationships was the primary strategy. On your discovery call, you confirmed you could provide both experts and a strong personal story.

Once onboard, however, no experts could be provided, and key story details were withheld. These were core parts of the plan, and without them, opportunities for meaningful coverage were significantly reduced.

That left us focusing purely on promoting the app itself — a challenging route for any brand-new app with limited downloads and reviews, which is why we advised against it from the start. Four months in, it was clear the necessary assets weren’t in place, and we recommended closing the account to avoid further spend.

PR works best when both sides are fully aligned, trust the process, and collaborate openly. It’s always a balance between keeping a client happy and waiting on them to provide key elements like experts or stories, while also delivering against an agreed strategy. In this case, the misalignment limited what could be achieved.

As part of our own lessons, we'll now ask clients to formally and separately agree to their strategy after sign-up, alongside our T&Cs. If they’re unable to follow through once the campaign begins, we'll offboard them until they’re ready. We hope this helps prevent similar situations in future.

Wishing you all the best with Walnut,
Riley
