Eight of us are NOT booking this motel now

Bought an auction last year for my son and partners Xmas present.
Unfortunately due to an illness and effects of radiation therapy have not used the voucher.
After speaking to travel auctions they suggested I speak to the marion Bay motel to see if we could extend the date by 4weeks.
I spoke to a lady who was extremely unsympathetic. And told me I'd had plenty of time to use the voucher and rules are rules. Very nasty compared to the previous owners.
My family and friends were planning on a week in that area but will no longer be booking with them.
I know rules are rules But..does nobody have a heart any more?,,
