Website prices not accurate and poor customer service.

I hired a 2T Engine Hoist from these guys. Ordered on Saturday for Tuesday. Got confirmation email then nothing. Tried to chat with them on Monday and was given expected wait 22-25 hours!. They called me on the Tuesday to tell me the website price was wrong and I had to cough up another £72! I did this as is was missing my deadline. The Engine Host was eventually delivered on the Thursday and the job was done. I wont be using them again.

Would give zero stars if i could. Ordered a log splitter a week in advance, waited a week and heard nothing despite chasing multiple times. Every time I phoned I get cut off. On the morning of delivery (which my husband had taken off to get on with the log splitting) we were told delivery was unavailable in our area. Shocking service, will never use again.

Tried to hire ladders

Tried to hire ladders, paid and was assured collection ticket would be given to the engineer as I was due to finish work. Needless to say this didn't happen and ladders couldn't be released. Adre refused a refund as I didn't take out insurance on a one day ladder hire!!! Stay clear if you want a smooth transaction

STILL WAITING FOR £500 Deposit on…

STILL WAITING FOR £500 Deposit on returned mini digger. There T&Cs say they will refund with in 21 days of the off hire date but now past that and no contact or money returned. Getting the same B.S as other comments on here that it's been passed to accounts but they won't provide a contact in accounts to speak to. All very dodgy, will get in touch with trading standards this week and plaster on social media if they are trying to scam me......

I Ordered a wackerplate 3 days in advance. I they took my money and approved the order. The email said I would recieve further communication when they had processed. Got nothing. On the day no delivery. I rang and got a bot who told me to wait. Then in the afternoon got notification that the order was cancelled 'as requested'. (Not by me).
The reason was a nonsensical 'time from order start date' . Whatever that meant. A useless company from start to finish. All run by bots.

Rip off company

Ordered a small scaffold by mistake, it arrived but never took it of the transport as could see it was far too small. All in all cost me £91. I explained to them over 3 wks worth of phone calls from me, that I had misread the website.
They denied me a refund.
I explained I am a pensioner and it's a lot of money to lose, so even a partial refund would be fine.
No they decided to rip me off.
I complained via a form they used but still denied. Appeal denied.
Money lost.

Just terrible in every way imaginable

No delivery and 3 different excuses:
1. We have no record of your order (I have order email and order number)
2. Your order hasn't been paid (it had)
3. The supplier can't deliver until next week (couldn't tell me who the supplier was 😂)

The first and last time I use national tool hire. I'm not surprised at my experience now that I've seen these reviews. Should I even bother to wait for a refund or should I just do a chargeback?

Deposit not returned 4months later

Delivery was delayed .wood chipper machine was fine delivered by local company.Still waiting for my £250 deposit to be returned 4 months later despite emailing national tool hire .seems to be a chaotic company .That just acts as a middleman for local hire firms.The local firm that supplied machine said they are going to stop dealing with them.says it all really.

time to do a chargeback before it's too late

Don't believe the lies about refunds and deposit returns as it isn't going to happen.

Time to speak to my bank for a chargeback before it's too late.

I feel sorry for the customer service reps who are having to promise refunds that the company aren't processing.

The amount of reviews on here all saying the same thing are a clear pattern. The phrase 'no smoke without fire' comes to mind.

Absolutely advise to steer clear of using them.

Item was not delivered, despite being told through online chat (only way to get hold of someone as the phone number never works). Waited all day but advised to wait till 5:30 on a Friday for delivery. Never arrived.
Was told the following week a refund would be in my account 1-5 working days.
Still chasing a full refund but getting no where. Customer service is none existent and the few times I have managed to speak to someone they don’t seem interested.

Wish I’d of googled the reviews beforehand as they’ve been terrible.

Saved me a ring around headache

Honestly, was worried reading these after I hired recently. But everything went swimmingly. Picked my delivery day, and it turned up just after 11am - which was great as I didn’t pay the extra delivery.

The company that collected it the day after the date I asked for. When I asked they told me collection can take up to 5 working days as the supplier transport is not controlled by National Tool Hire - should be more clear about this. I didn’t have a deposit so did experience what others have stated. They basically do the running round, so I don’t have to so it worked for me.

I ordered a scaffold and they sent the wrong size. I ordered a particular width of platform for a reason, because of the space it needed to fit in to. Sending me a larger platform isn't an "equivalent" if it doesn't fit the space!

Refusing to rectify or refund. Bank will now have to reclaim the money.

I am UK based, Server is in DK (Denmark)
Hired a log splitter with over a weeks notice, received a call and email 16:00 on the day before delivery the following morning to say it was not available. Call the number back to be told the person who emailed had sent the email and gone home. they cannot explain what changed in the week or why they left it so late to let me know. offered to move the arranged weekend hire to a Monday two weeks later free of charge as a good will gesture.

After feedback another email has been sent. This still does not resolve failed delivery and associated costs.

Absolutely terrible service from Mammoth Tool Hire.

They supplied a faulty digger and a roller that was not what we ordered — it was far too large for the intended job and completely unsuitable for the site. This immediately caused delays.

We were told an engineer would attend within the hour to repair the digger — no one turned up. We were then promised an 8am engineer the following morning — again, no one showed. I am still waiting.

As a result, we have now lost two full days of site work, costing us both time and money. Communication has been just as frustrating — it’s almost impossible to get hold of anyone unless you sit on web chat or stay on hold for over an hour.
