Substantial amount lost.

I received a voucher for a substantial amount for my birthday. Unfortunately I have been ill and in hospital during which the voucher expired. The company have not recognized my situation and I have lost the value of the voucher.

I've tried using the website 3 times…

I've tried using the website 3 times and it won't work properly.
At least twice I've selected the date of delivery for evoucher to arrive and nothing else happens.
I read the t&c and then can't get back to where I was.
Last year I persevered and got it ordered only to find I'd paid twice I did contact them and was repaid.
I wanted to give a plant that recipient could choose instead of a plant of my choice, or cash to buy a bottle.
Website not up to it.

Don't buy their gift vouchers

Tell me why a gift voucher has an expiry date? what's the point buying a voucher when you could give cash which doesn't expire and the robbing companies don't just keep your money!!
Disgusting attitude by HCA please think twice before buying one of these and just give someone some cash which they can use anywhere.

The hidden charges mentioned by one…

The hidden charges mentioned by one customer are probably bank charges. These vouchers unlike any other vouchers, I have ever bought are considered as "Cash" and my bank charged me £1.50 for a £50 voucher and then charged me £0.13 interest for purchasing cash on a credit card. I will probably have to pay interest on the intetest next month. I have complained to my bank but it is really the National Garden Gift Vouchers that are at fault for not advising that any purchase will be considered as a cash withdrawal on a credit card.

Cannot comment on the negative reviews, particularly for the printed vouchers/cards
All I can say is that I ordered one online for a relative and had no problems. Everything worked fine. I was able to schedule delivery by email for a future date and it arrived as promised.
The relative has used NGC vouchers before and had no problems.
As for expiry dates... all gift vouchers have an expiry date - even Amazon - it just varies from company to company so as always it's a case of buyer beware. Check the small print and use before the due date.
I am happy with the company and the service I got.

Fantastic experience

Fantastic experience using these vouchers over many years. Good value and whilst sometimes difficult to redeem as some garden centres need training on redemption know-how, eventually usable. Definitely recommend, particularly if you are a Blue Light Cardholder or can access through workplace schemes.

Do not buy vouchers from this company

Do not buy vouchers from this company, there are hidden charges which they don't tell you about.
You will end up paying more for the voucher than its actually worth.

Gift Vouchers Absolutely revolting product

Absolutely revolting product, and company. DO NOT BUY THESE VOUCHERS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!
Since when is it fair that this company can sell you a piece of paper which means they can then demand you spend your money in a set time, or you loose it completely? They know loads won’t be redeemed before the expiry, or will be stored safely to use when the time is right, by folks unaware there’s an expiration date. This outfit were happy to send a note to their accountants filed with their accounts for the end of 2021, and here it is -“Based on experience, the directors estimate that at 31 December 2021, £3.2m of vouchers, and cards in circulation are not expected to be redeemed."
What they are saying is the debt they once had to honour is now gone, and they took £3.2 million and It was theirs to use as they wished. They effectively stole it from individuals purchasing these vouchers and cards as loving gifts for their families and friends. In our case, from two individuals who have subsequently died. This company has set up a scheme to steal from its customers and smile whilst they do it!
SEND OR GIVE CASH DO NOT USE THESE ITEMS!!

avoid at all costs

I don't need to add anymore comment as below says it all - 45 mins waiting for a phone to be answer - then a chipped operator - who claimed my receipt code did not exist - and slamed the phone on me - when I suggested their system should have my details - disgrace - oh and they shut down yesterday

Failed to arrive Don’t order

Ordered 2weeks before the required date to be delivered
Offered a birthday card option WHY!!!!!!
The card voucher failed to arrive on the date
Sent out 2 days before for delivery through Royal Mail !! As they are rubbish at delivering anything on time
Spoke to customer service who was just uninterested and failed to see that this was for a birthday
Don’t buy unless you want to be disappointed

Pathetic service

Cards have an expiry date - why, when they have your money.
When I complained they said they’d send me some paper vouchers- in 6 weeks!
Hopeless, you couldn’t design a worse service if you tried.

How do I exchange a paper voucher ?

I have a voucher which was sent online and which I printed. I took it to one of the garden centres listed as accepting the voucher - a big, national chain- but they could not accept it as they had no mechanism for accepting paper copies rather than gift cards.
I phoned the Customer Services number given at the bottom of my printed voucher for National Garden Gift vouchers. It took me to an organisation who dealt with retailers only (e-Pay ?). The number they gave me - HTA- was closed.
The only way forward I can see is for NGGV to exchange my paper copy for a card but I have little hope that this will happen. I particularly want to use the branch of Webb's concerned.

Horrible service - do not recommend ….

Even though I was sick and then a pandemic happened this company refuses to honour £50 worth of vouchers as the expiry date has passed. You cannot use them online and they seem to think garden centres stayed open despite my local one closing down.
A complete lack of understanding and no account taken of the fact we have had over 2 years of isolating.
Beware - I do not recommend using this company.

Christmas present still not arrived 3 weeks after ordering.

I ordered £25 (plus £2.00 delivery) vouchers to be sent to a friend before Christmas 2021. They were due to arrive on the Wednesday before but didn't. I used their online contact form and a lady rang me to say she would ring me on 4th January to see if they still hadn't arrived and she would cancel the old ones and issue new ones. Of course, she never rang me back. I emailed her THREE times that day and used the online contact form yet again trying to get ANYONE to respond to me. It is very embarrassing having to ask my friend to keep checking her post for these missing vouchers. I was going to send her flowers instead, but I am now in a quandry as to whether they have issued new ones or not. They do have a phone number if you want to listen to endless awful music and pay 9p per minute for the privilege. I will NEVER use these people again, but go to a local garden centre to buy them and send them recorded delivery which is far cheaper!

Poor service

Attempted to buy a voucher on-line today but the website had a fault and the purchase failed. The website told me to ring the company with an error code. It wasn't clear whether my credit card payment had been taken or not. I rang and waited almost half an hour before my call was answered. The operator didn't apologise for the wait. I was told there was a fault with the website and I'd have to wait until that had been rectified. I understand that at times most companies will experience problems with their website. But surely they can put a note on the website that there's a problem and ensure they have sufficient staff to answer inquiries within a reasonable time. The website itself is not well designed; it could be much clearer. For example I intended to give a donation to the company's selected charity but when it came to paying failed to see the instructions to donate. This means valuable donations are beng lost.
