Blind Leading the Blind
Wonderful outfit by many standards. This razor received is suitable for my purpose. They are getting some things right, truer, more true. For example - I went looking for a well dressed replaceable blade straight razor showing understanding this type has become a destination and not only a step to straight razor shaving because of barber preferences and the inherent advantages presented, and this one works in that role. However, the product name is off-plan, as is the company name in total. For this razor, "Near Damascus," provides a sound name. For the company title, they were aiming for, "Truer-Blade," but got tricked into, "Naked-Armor." Also, their advertising emphasizes attraction and handsomeness rather than character and manliness; another plan deviation. God gives good plans, staying on track involves a commitment to sacrifice for accuracy.
Their website advertises this product that they call, Morholt Shavette, with statements including: "combines the heavy-duty attributes of Damascus steel... made using the 1,000-year-old forging technique..." At this price authentic quality Damascus steel is not possible nor expected. It is either a faux etched look-a-like or a low grade approximation of semi-process. (upon close inspection it is not Damascus Steel, only etched faux on top surfaces, very easy to identify under magnifying glass). Honesty is a virtue.
Enough on legend of king Arthur naming: Morholt is reported to be a, "Killed Prince." We do have the Irish Gaelic, "Sea Warrior," to fall back on in interpretation though this is disputed. Should Dovo's tradename, "Shavette," be used in another company's product name? Not directly. Okay to add on the side for search optimization but the tradename status should be respected substantially.
While a rose by any other name may be just as sweet, the Montague & Capulet conflict did produce death.
Dovo, Boker & Proraso don't feel a need to engage in scantily clad skirmish; why does, Naked-Armor? It's about shaving friends not nudity and battle. If they have an item you have particular use for, it may do okay - otherwise best to avoid such fancy tricks and receive from truer groups better value including mission integrity.
