Hello Carolyne!

We would strongly recommend that you contact the source of this insurance data and insist on them providing you with details regarding this alert, such as Insurance company name, date of incident, category write off, as we have had many many cases, where insurance alerts turn out to be an error and subsequently removed. Other, turn out to be minor damage repair and not subject to a write off.

MyVehicle can only provide data that comes from official sources and data that can be fully supported and backed up when queried.

You mentioned CATEGORY S, which in Ireland Does NOT exist and is not used by any Irish insurer.
In the UK they have in recent years started using category S for Structural Damage, but your vehicle was never registered in the UK.

Again, another reason to raise the query in relation to the insurance alert.

We can also see that this vehicle is still registered to a garage and not in your name. We would recommend that you contact the dealership to discuss this matter in greater detail.
Alternatively, we would always recommend getting an engineer pre purchase / post damage inspection, which we can certainly arrange for you.

Hello James and thank you for taking the time to review, although, we feel that this is actually not only an unfair comment but incorrect. There are absolutely no hidden costs in a vehicle history check and so we are not sure what you mean by this? If you are referring to a prompt to run a finance check on the vehicle, this is not in any way a 'hidden cost', in fact purchasing a vehicle that is under finance could land the purchaser of that vehicle with huge costs. You purchased a UK Car History Check and not a full check. Also, we do not create the record but can only compile reports based on the data that is made available for any given vehicle. In this case, a report can only be based on data available in another jurisdiction (GB). The information provided is certainly not 'very poor' as you contend and is comparable to any other history check supplier. We know this as our parent company provides the same data to the entire automotive industry, including, all insurers, motor assessors and major banks. We are sorry to hear that your personal perception of the report didn't match your expectation and we have no control over this. We can only provide you with what is available for this vehicle from official and authorised sources in Great Britain, and we cannot embellish the data as the vast majority of our customers and clients can appreciate. The statement you made is simply not correct and any perception you may have is not based on any mistake on our part but based on your own choice of report. You purchased an IRISH car check, for which you received the Full IRISH History Check of the same vehicle, any other expectation you had were simply incorrect.

Now, the information that we supplied you within your Full Irish vehicle history check covered the following information:

1.Vehicle ID Numbers & Documentation which are vital when verifying the authenticity of the vehicle.
2. Vehicle Status which disclose if the vehicle was ever written off, damage alert, taxi, change in engine number and colour.
3.Number of registered owners, owner category and the purchased date.
4. NCT & Road Tax data which discloses NCT expiry data, NCT expiry history, road tax expiry date and road tax expiry history.
5. Imported data on whether the vehicle was imported or not.
6. Date of first registration in Ireland.
7. Recorded Model Modifications which highlights model changes and face-lift introductions for this particular vehicle model type.
8. CO2 rating and a full list of running costs for this specific vehicle.

This type of data is vital first step information, but it can never be substituted for physically inspecting a vehicle both mechanically, bodywork and general wear and tear, which we would class as a vital second step when buying a used vehicle

Its mentioned in the report that the vehicle is imported from Germany, the previous car registration number is also mentioned. Date of first registration in Germany and Ireland, both are mentioned. We do not have any data of the vehicle being registered in UK, so we cannot provide you its history. We would like to remind you that we do not create the data but compile reports based on pre-existing data from a great number of sources.

MyVehicle.ie does check every vehicle for mileage but it does not guarantee that every vehicle actually has a mileage record. This is also the case with all vehicle history check suppliers and we are no different.

As you will notice from the report, this car has just been registered in Ireland (26-09-23) and it would not have necessitated a digitised record of mileage as this normally happens when a vehicle changes ownership and is sold on by a dealer who will then record mileage as a member of the trade. As such, our extensive databases have not returned any other recorded readings for this vehicle.

Hello Andrew. We must say that your feedback is quite harsh and unfair as you are in actual fact not a MyVehicle.ie customer, and so we are perplexed as to why you have left your comments? As a company, we always strive to present the highest service standards to our customers. We refute any such claims you have made. Your comments are grossly disproportionate to the facts and misrepresent what you may have perceived happened. It is a pity that the offer of assistance was not fully understood to your satisfaction. We are sure it can be appreciated that we can discuss a report with the customer who purchased the report, but a registration number was not presented to us at the time of your call to check even the vehicle in question so as to give a considered response after a review of the issue presented, in this case, a mileage discrepancy on a vehicle, which in the vast majority of cases can be rectified and amended after investigation. Subsequently, after the registration number was disclosed to us, we discovered that a MyVehicle.ie public report was never purchased by a member of the public for this vehicle and we have no record of any report purchased by a MyVehicle.ie customer. The fact remains, you are not a MyVehicle.ie customer, have not purchased a report and no MyVehicle.ie report exists for this vehicle. We would therefore ask that you remove this review. To all our polite customers and readers, we would say that comments like the above do not alway represent the facts.

As you can appreciate, our reports contain the history of the vehicle as a digitised record. We do not create these records as they originate in a different jurisdiction and from multiple trade sources but we compile reports based on the available information contained in our databases.

There were 2 cherished plates on the car which didn't appear in the MyVehicle report so as a result, the incorrect mileage came from these other plates. It is related to what is known as a ‘cherished’ reg or personalised reg plate issue which is common in the UK and known officially as a plate transfer.

We are therefore satisfied that this vehicle is now clear of discrepancies. An updated report has been re-sent to the email address you provided during the purchase process.]

Reports are made available to the recipient immediately after payment and there are multiple data points that all have a value. The report is not predicated on any one particular data set as the report will contain a lot of information apart from the particular aspect that is queried. As we mentioned previously, we do not create or make up the data and we are not its originators. We compile reports based on data from many sources. These sources may sometimes contain discrepancies but these can only be resolved at the time of report generation and subsequent query.

Thank you for sharing your comments. This is a 2003 Toyota Yaris, almost 20 years old. Focus on NOx emissions has only been around for the past few years and in particular since the Emissions scandal in 2015. NOx values can be found on the V5C documents of newer vehicles, but certainly not on vehicles this old. You will find that Revenue would not have a NOx value for this car and that is why they require this information at a VRT Inspection in documentation. If this is not provided, they will charge the maximum which is €600 for petrol vehicles and €4,850 for diesel engines. This is actually what the report showed, which is the estimated maximum NOx charge of €600. In fact, establishing the NOx value on this particular vehicle by an emissions test could very well cost a large percentage of the value of this car.
