Concept great. Rubbish execution

Trying to get my son some extra last minute support with Economics ahead of his A Level exams and so far we've managed to get one lesson actually done in the space of nearly three weeks.

The first tutor cancelled two classes, one after the class was supposed to have started; the second 30 minutes before. He then disappeared off the system. A second tutor, following an intro call, also then cancelled a lesson with less than an hour's notice.

We may just have been really unlucky, but given this is all happening a few weeks before his actual exams, we can't afford to waste time like this.

Oh. And I've paid for those lessons, so now have to wait for them to be refunded.

Can't really recommend on the basis of our experience so far.

Company told to remove my review or no refund!!!

I was told to remove my review i will not. Speaks volumes about a company that tries to bribe you to not tell the truth!

" I am willing to authorise a refund for this lesson as an exception. In order to do this I would need to see you first take down your Trustpilot review"

Also they fight to get the bad reviews removed i have proof of their awful "service"

I would like to say the My tutor is…

I would like to say the My tutor is excellent 👌 not just that our tutor I Maham is really nice, even the customer service at My tutor is fantastic.
I recently rang them and the person on the phone was extremely helpful
Her name was Anita. Anita friendly,polite and immediately helped out with the matter It was all done within a few minutes.

No..

Looking for a tutor, expressed interest on mytutor and they called me, I was happy to go ahead, after a lengthy conversation, I was told "have a few great tutors in mind". Clearly a ploy to get money asap, I paid thinking must need it to verify for first time using it. Turns out they booked a random school day (so they could get a payment that day off me) which obviously my child was at school for, the tutor did not even work the day I wanted. So they picked a random tutor out of thin air. Must work on commission to as they got a payment that day. Still chasing for refund, its been nearly a month. Pathetic money grabbing attempt at parents who want to help the children.

Warning for parents

I am writing this to warn other parents about the deceptive practices of this company. For over six months, I have been chasing a refund for a major billing error where they "double-dipped" into my account, taking money out on the same day they were supposed to be applying a credit. Despite providing clear bank statements as proof, I have been ignored, and their phone lines are always "too busy" to help. Even worse, when I tried to post an honest review about a tutor who was dismissive and unprofessional, the company deleted it, claiming it wasn't "justified." It is now obvious why every tutor on this site has a perfect rating: the company systematically removes any negative feedback to keep their image looking good. They are clearly prioritizing the tutor’s ego and their own "perfect" reputation over a parent who is actually missing money. Please be careful with your bank details here, as they are quick to take your payments but will silence you and hide your comments the moment a problem arises.

Highly recommended!

I'm so happy with our experience so far with MyTutor. It was very easy to browse potential tutors and it's great that you can read a little about each on and what they offer. It's very easy to book and change/cancel sessions as needed and reasonable pricing.

We chose a tutor named Louise for my daughter and she is brilliant! She tailors each lesson depending on what my child needs and gives a little report at the end of each one.

Highly recommended!

WARNING!!!

WARNING!!!! My daughter used this platform for help with her GCSE maths. My daughter ended the sessions with the tutor because he made her feel uncomfortable during the session. The tutor then contacted her outside of the platform and sent unsolictied pictures of his genitals. We reported this to mytutor who "investigated" and responded to us saying that he's denied it so they aren't taking any further action. This is a serious safeguarding failing on their part and are totally disinterested. We have contacted the police and CEOP in the hope they will investigate it better.

To keep our community safe, all tutors on MyTutor undergo an Enhanced DBS check (including Children’s Barred List), identity verification, and mandatory safeguarding training (aligned with Keeping Children Safe in Education 2025) before they can teach on the platform.

​For added protection, every lesson is recorded and all in-platform messages are monitored. Our systems are also designed to prevent the exchange of personal contact details, as tutors are strictly prohibited from contacting students or parents outside our platform. If an investigation—including a review of lesson recordings—identifies an issue, we take immediate action.

​If a concerning interaction outside of MyTutor is reported to us, we will provide guidance on how to report it to the relevant platform and the appropriate authorities, as they would be responsible for taking action there.

Love my tutor! Had a maths tutored for my eldest son and now have a tutor for my youngest for maths. It’s so easy to get set up, find a tutor and let your child be at home whilst having a session.

Victor has been working with my daughter for a few weeks and even in that short time her grades have risen dramatically. Victor is personable, professional and delivers fantastic lessons. Victor has given my daughter the confidence, content and skills leading into her A levels . 100% recommendation

In our tech FAQ we do state which devices are compatible with the site and what to avoid using. Amazon Fire & Android tablets are not compatible with our platform, and the lesson space was designed to be used specifically on laptops or computers, so we recommend not using a phone to access lessons.

Amy is a excellent teacher

Amy is a good teacher. My daughter like her teaching style. I really appreciate her feedback after each lesson. That's gives me a idea weather my daughter is doing well or not. She responses to my messages very quickly.

Ridiculously expensive

Website is good enough, but they take a 50% cut of all payments. This compares to a one off finders fee that most websites offer, which is normally closer to 10%. Cannot recommend for tutors signing up unless you're desperate, and would recommend tutees look elsewhere so that payments actually go to the tutor and not the website

Will never advise to use them

DO not use

I HAD MY MONEY TAKEN AND A SET UP WITHOUT MY PERMISSION NEVER REFUNDED ME IMPOSSIBLE TO GET A REPLY AND THE TUTOR ISNT MUCH HELP AS I ALSO CANCELLED HIM AND HE STILL TRIED TO HAVE ME
