Mockery for dummies absolutely unsatisfying

absolutely unsatisfying, by way of simplification I can say that I have explored the site to the end, I have reached the highest level, it took me almost 3 years, but honestly I am extremely disappointed, I did not care if I was descendant or less of royal families or not, it would have been enough for me to have certainties about my ancestors of 3 or 4 generations, I turned out to be a mix of ancient populations and it can be, but it is not understandable why these populations are not the same as those indicated by 23 and me, Genome link, My Ancestry, I threw away a lot of money but I had no result. I discovered that I have the DNA of all the Scottish clans, but if I go to do a PCA analysis, there is no trace of Scottish DNA, same thing for Ashkenazi DNA, I should be Jewish, but there is no trace in the DNAIn short, it seems to me a mockery, a deception that may seem professional but that if it is evaluated well turns out to be exactly what it is.

Thank you for such a detailed review, Damiano. It's worth highlighting that comparing our results to 23andMe or Ancestry is not accurate as those platforms use modern reference populations, while we use real ancient DNA samples. Differences are expected and are not a sign of inaccuracy on either side.

Good but Expandable

MTA met my ancestry well. Germanic and Celtic tribes. That's exactly how I look. Blonde hair and red beard. Is credible and also corresponds to the family history.
If you have Germanic or Celtic ancestors, you will often get Pannonians and Illyrians as a result. This is particularly common among people with Skordisk, Ostrogothic and Gepid ancestors. They all settled in Pannonia. Therefore I suspect an incorrect assignment of the samples...

The layout could also be made more modern and structured more clearly. In God's name, please pay someone who structures the site more clearly and make the interface more modern. You get eye cancer when you see that...

The levels cost quite a bit and you don't really get much in return. And stop these constant discount promotions. They are supposed to suggest that it is cheap. But you hardly get any new information in return. Competition would be good for MTA, then they would be forced to change...

A scam

A scam. You are misled to analyze your DNA for free. But all is a scam. After you upload it is NOT free. You must pay a large sum $ to get the tesult you were promised for free. The upload is free but only to steal your DNA. It is lost forever in their hands and you will never get it back. These people are scammers and mafia! Never upload your DNA!

Lost money with no way to recover it.

Site seems cool, but when I paid for an upgrade, I did not get the upgrade but they took my money. I have emailed multiple times with one response to get the info to the right person (after the info@ email did not give a response, so I messaged the Facebook page) only to then have no one follow up and no one respond thereafter. I'm out the money that I gave with the promise for access to more information; which I did not get. For that reason I have given one star.

Steep prices for inaccurate results

Steep prices for inaccurate results. Mytrueancestry uses a predatory strategy to squeeze your wallet for "upgrades" in hopes to get a more clarity about your ancestry which it utterly fails at best at and worst is misleading.

-Using AI art is a clear example of it being a lazy cash grab. This factor confirms its scam status.

You're better off using Gedmatch admixture calculators or getting G25 coordinates and using Vahaduo. Much much much cheaper and more accurate.

Stay away from it, getting an idea of your ancestry is much much cheaper than this.

We appreciate the feedback, Justin, though we'd respectfully push back on the characterization. Our tiered model is designed to offer a genuinely free entry point, with optional deeper analysis for those who want it, which is a structure used by many reputable platforms. Our results are based on peer-reviewed archaeogenetic data, not guesswork. We're sorry it didn't resonate with you. Feel free to reach out at info@mytrueancestry.com if you'd like to discuss further.

My True Ancestry is a borderline scam

My True Ancestry is a borderline scam. It's crap, period. I remember it was free to see some of it, and then you have to pay to unlock it again. Then, you have to pay to unlock every section, and it was very overpriced.

What I discovered is an interface that looks like the school project from a first year IT student, a very painful website to navigate, copies of the most useless Mdlp Gedmatch calculators, and unrealistic ancient breakdowns. Also, I can get a haplogroup report for free on Cladefinder.

Going from My True Ancestry to Illustrativedna felt like upgrading from a Suzuki Swift to a Landcruiser 300 series.

Sorry for my rant, but I am still grieving my money.

Uploaded my DNA profile to be "analysed"...said I'd get the results in ten minutes. 5 hours later and no results at all..just keeps prompting me to upload my data.

Hi Darren, we're sorry for the frustration. Processing delays of this nature are very unusual and typically indicate a file compatibility issue rather than a platform-wide problem. Our platform appears to be working correctly but please contact us at info@mytrueancestry.com with your account details and we'll get your analysis running correctly.

A glimpse into the past marred by modern frustrationstry offers a unique…

My True Ancestry offers a unique proposition to the curious and the history enthusiasts: a chance to connect one's genetic makeup with the tapestry of human history, tracing lineage back to ancient civilizations and notable historical figures. However, beneath the allure of uncovering one's ancestral past lies a web of modern-day grievances that may leave users longing for more than just answers to their genetic origins.

A pricey journey through time

One of the most glaring issues with My True Ancestry is its pricing structure. The service operates on a tiered system, where initial insights are provided at a basic level, and more detailed information is locked behind higher-priced upgrades. This model can quickly become a costly endeavor for those eager to dive deep into their ancestral past, as each new level of insight demands an additional fee. The promise of connecting with historical figures or ancient civilizations becomes less enticing when each revelation comes with a price tag.

A blast from the past: And not in a good way

Navigating My True Ancestry's platform can feel like a journey back to the early days of the internet, but not in the nostalgic sense. The user interface, reminiscent of web design from the late '90s, presents a significant barrier to user engagement. In an era where sleek, intuitive design is the norm, the outdated and clunky interface of My True Ancestry not only detracts from the user experience but also undermines the credibility and perceived value of the service.

Limited insights, unlimited upgrades

The service's approach to delivering ancestral insights further compounds user frustration. Initial analyses may provide intriguing, albeit general, information about one's genetic history. However, the depth and specificity of these insights often fall short of expectations, prompting users to seek upgrades for more detailed information. This cycle of limited initial insights followed by the promise of more for an additional fee can leave users feeling nickel-and-dimed, questioning the value of their investment.

A missed opportunity for engagement

My True Ancestry holds the potential to offer a fascinating window into the past, allowing individuals to connect with their heritage in a profound and personal way. Unfortunately, the service's execution—marred by a prohibitive pricing model, an outdated interface, and a business strategy that prioritizes upselling over user satisfaction—significantly diminishes its appeal. In the end, what could be a journey of self-discovery and historical connection becomes a lesson in modern-day consumer frustration.

In conclusion, while the concept of My True Ancestry promises a captivating exploration of one's genetic and historical roots, the reality is a service that feels out of touch with the expectations of today's users. The journey through one's ancestral past should not be hindered by modern-day grievances such as prohibitive costs, outdated technology, and a business model that feels more exploitative than exploratory.

Very pleased with mta

While I cant speak for every individual, I find the results per my raw dna upload to be 100 percent accurate with my results from ftdna, I followed my globetrekker map on ftdna and I show results from each area that is on that map. At first I was sceptical, but I'm extremely pleased.
There really isnt a page to explain on how to use the results and it does get tricky at times, as well as pricey but its all definatly worth the cost of you really want to kniw where your ancestors lived and died.
I do have many ideas that would simplicate the site, but have to yet find a way to contact them to explain the confusion which frustrates the impatient people , with that being said I definitely say I would give it a 10 out of 10

Spot on with my Ancestry DNA

Spot on with the Ancestrydna downloaded to the site that connected with ancient ancestors that hailed from all the regions specified on Ancestry. Fun and interesting site for those interested in archaeology, tracing your dna back to ancient roots, and studying the geographical and historical compilation of human migration and expansion. I love deep diving on this site and visit often! It sparks my creativity to wonder how these people lived and who they might have been.

Don't do it if you want real results

Completely impossible. I know perfectly my family history on my mother side as an uncle of mine did our genealogical tree some years back. Also, I am French from Normandy, with one grand father a seaman from Brittany, but for the rest, all farmers in Normandy. How can you come back with the result that I am 57% Scottish, 20% English, 7% Welsh, Irish and French and the rest basque ??? . Furthermore, I did another test with another company and the results widely differ. Is it a swindle ??

Thank you for your feedback, Nathalie. This is actually a common and understandable point of confusion - our results reflect ancient population genetics, not modern nationalities. The ancient peoples who carried DNA now associated with 'Scottish' clusters also populated much of Northwestern Europe thousands of years ago, including Normandy. This doesn't contradict your family history; it enriches it :)

Overpriced and clunky, but with fascinating connections to the past

Pros - it comes up with fascinating stories and personal links to individuals, whose skeletons have been unearthed in various archaeological digs. This is a refreshing alternative to the other sites that just offer broad categories.

Cons - It's a clunky site and they continually try to lure you into buying upgrades in flash sales that are still ludicrously overpriced. I'm not spending £50 just to gain access to a few more nuggets of information, only to have to spend a other £50 or more later on. It may be a good business model, but I'm not falling for it.

Interesting but I’m a quarter Italian…

Interesting but I’m a quarter Italian and my grandma got a lot of Roman, Hellenic, I only got a very tiny amount of Roman, and they gave me Illyrian? Fascinating results overall though, I got mostly Frank, Visigoth, Illyrian, Thuringii, Scordisci, Gepid, Saxon/Anglo Saxon, Danish Viking, etc. surprised to see all the ancient ancestors from the Balkans/Hungary/Croatia/Czech Republic/Austria/Spain. I did get matches from Italy, Germany, France, Denmark, & England as well, and that makes sense. Overall very intriguing and positive results though.

Not the easiest of sites to navigate…

Not the easiest of sites to navigate around I found loading was at snail paste and information not easy to read with the type used as a dyslexic then it the cost Wow quite lot it not friendliest of site either as you unable I found to ask a questions about things nowhere to contact to ask a question or have a one answer it may contain some intesting facts but it not great if your are neuro diverse.Ancestry has and easier site and you can ask a question and get an answer. but doesn't go deep into your DNA like this one so your let beween a rock and a hard place frankly.

It has potential but falls short.

The site has errors that staff doesn't keep abreast of. They offer little explanation for important terms they use when determining relations (and that strategy may be to their advantage). They have responded to me via email regarding obvious errors on their site and they repaired them. I would love to give this site 5 stars but there are too many unanswered questions, too many site errors, and too much graphics clutter.
