A pointless intermediary website

So MySolarQuotes spiel is this: Quickly compare NZ’s top solar panel and battery companies - all carefully selected. You will receive 3 no-obligation quotes from reliable & professional installers, quick smart! What really happens is you are required on MySolarQuotes website to supply a not insignificant amount of information which presumably is forwarded to suppliers. Then the suppliers call you to make an appointment and they will often say they require more information which tends to give the impression that the information that you already supplied on the website was just a waste of time. Getting the quote is then dependent on you making an appointment with the solar supplier, so the illusion that MySolarQuotes organises the three quotes for you and that the quotes will be delivered to you by email once you click the submit button is just that - an illusion.

Hi Edwer, thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. I think there might be a bit of a misunderstanding around how our service works, so I’d like to clear that up.

My Solar Quotes connects homeowners and businesses with three SEANZ-approved solar companies in their area. We do ask for some detailed info up front – things like your roof type, power bill, and contact details - but this isn’t wasted effort. That information is sent directly to the installers so they can come prepared when they first contact you.

If a solar company we connect you with ever repeats the same question we have already asked you, then they aren't doing their job properly - and they are understandably going to really annoy their customers, which I don't want!

Most solar installers prefer to have a chat over the phone or site visit before giving a written quote. That’s just standard practice in the NZ solar industry – every home and power bill is unique, and a short conversation usually makes the final quote more accurate and tailored.

What we do is save people time: by pre-vetting reputable installers, ensuring your details only go to three trusted companies, and giving you unbiased info to help avoid common mistakes. It’s not an instant push-button quote service, but it’s the fastest and most reliable way to get real, tailored proposals.

I should also mention that I couldn’t find any record of you using our service directly, so it’s hard to know if your experience was first-hand or through someone you know. Either way, your feedback is helpful, because it reminds me that we need to explain the process more clearly on our site.

We’re a small NZ company trying to make going solar easier and more transparent for Kiwis. If you’d like, I’d be happy to walk you through exactly how the process works, so you can see what most of our customers experience.
