BenefitWallet - A P.O.S. Company
Oh my god…what a pathetic company! After spending an hour on the phone trying to clear/close an account my former company decided to utilize, Ensign Energy of Canada, after several minutes I found that Ensign couldn’t have hired a WORSE company to manage employee HSA. Too frustrating to deal with, I ended the call after an hour as I felt my blood pressure getting too high. The ground level employee who was in the Philippines was simply useless, who refused to get a supervisor. In the end, feel free to contact me and I can fill you in; however, I’ll just say this…if your employer uses this company…RUN as fast as you can!!!

What terrible service and obviously I see that 95% of the people agree with me. What a hassle to get something paid with my own money for a covered benefit and where I provided all of the proper documentation and more Explanation of benefit from Insurance, receipts from the doctor's office and still they want me to appeal. They make your life hell and give you every road block possible so you get frustrated and give up and they keep your money. Forget that!!
BenefitWallet is difficult to work…
BenefitWallet is difficult to work with, their website is difficult to navigate, and they have many hidden fees. When their website failed to confirm the payments that I processed online I called the clinic directly and gave them my debit card number only to have Benefit Wallet then double-pay the clinics resulting in my account being overdrawn and over $100 in fees deducted from my account. When I explained this happened because their website showed no record of my online payments being processed so I used my debit card, they only reversed $25 worth of the fees that were due to their website glitch.
I have have worked with several HSAs and this is by far and away my worst experience.
Useless App
What's the use of the pay provider section in the app if they're going to reimburse me directly instead of paying the providet???
This is the SECOND time I've submitted a claim to pay the provider directly, and they have ended up reimbursing me instead. What a waste of time. Now I have to pay my provider. If I had known that I would have paid the first and then submitted a claim to reimburse myself.
Logic takes a holiday at Benefit Wallet
They refuse to approve an invoice from a dentist for a dental specific HRA. Unbelievable! I'm moving my money out of Benefit Wallet.

LA COUNTY Changed to Benefit wallet and it IS SUCH A HUGE MISTAKE. I provided the proof of the dental receipt for my dependents but they are denying it. They are giving such a hard time to reimburse our own money. This company is horrible!!!! Customer service is not helpful, they don't have no clue when you talk to them and you have to wait for a long time for them to answer the phone. So unprofessional.
Website ALWAYS broken; ZERO customer service
I have repeatedly tried to log in to the Benefit Wallet website and it is ALWAYS down and not working - every attempt to log in just times out. Customer service/ technical support is non-existent. I had quite a bit of money in my HSA, but have NO idea if they have been deducting fees etc. from my account because I haven't received a statement from them in ages. I have initiated a transfer to Fidelity because I can't even log in to see my balance. This company is the worst!!!!
They drained my account with monthly…
They drained my account with monthly fees that they claim I had agreed to and did not give any interest on that money. Basically, I lost 1/3 of what I had contributed into my HSA account because of all the fees they took out of my money. And made a lot of red tape for me to get my money transferred out. I DO NOT recommend them at all.

I didn't even know this account existed until I just received a card in the mail. Apparently it was set up with a previous employer in 2018. They do not even have a name for which employer set it up. Long story short apparently I started off with $220.00 but due to independent fees of $3.50 monthly now I have $8.83... They denied my refund as I supposedly received a welcome kit... back in 2018..
Predatory company
Predatory company. Debit card with active HSA balance is denied while they subtract $3.50 per month in admin fees and notify me an HRA balance is inaccessible because I missed the cutoff by 2 months. Avoid at all costs!!!
Absolute Garbage customer service.
Absolute Garbage customer service.. I called to ask one question and help get clarification on an old account. It took 12 mins of about 35 questions asked over and over and over - the girl on the phone was talking in a tunnel, could not understand her due to her poor phone system, she also mumbled and slurred her words. How many questions do you need to ask for me to verify who I am. She continued asking questions and never answered the question I had. Frustrating. This company does NOT communicate and their service is incredibly poor. Our employees will never be using this as a benefit.
Extremely slow reimbursement
Benefit Wallet always delays reimbursement and requires me to call and verify my reimbursements. They do their best to hold on to my money as long as possible. Sometimes reimbursements take up to five weeks. Rarely am I reimbursed in less than three weeks. I have another HSA account that reimburses me instantly and only use Benefit Wallet for my company's contribution. Phone calls are to a outsourced call center, and the agents are difficult to understand.

Offshore, the only people you can speak to in a reasonable amount of time and if they give you bad information the company doesn't care. I was on hold for over 4 HOURS waiting for an onshore agent just to have someone professing to be a supervisor by the name of Pablo tell me he didn't care about the information provided by the offshore agent. I asked him to review the call to confirm the information I gave was accurate and his response was only quality control can pull the call...so basically he didn't intend to do any research. I had called a few days earlier and asked for a supervisor call back. The agent I was speaking with was going back and forth with a supervisor who advised she would need to do research and get back to me. This guy didn't think research was necessary. Apparently anybody call become a supervisor at this company. Mind you, I relied on information from the company's agent which resulted in additional fees being charged to my account. His response was basically oh well. Based on information provided by the agent...which was the account was closed, I didn't rush to cash my check because my assumption was the account was closed. I explained this to this supervisor and he didn't make any attempt to rectify the situation. No where on the check does it say you have a certain number of days to cash the check. So not only did this company continue to charge me fees on an account that was supposed to be closed, but i was also charged a fee by my bank because the check from this company bounced. My advice to anyone that is forced to use this company because it's who your employer uses, pick different insurance. Don't just rely on my review though, read reviews from other people. All negative! From the time I logged in a few years ago and had to ask multiple times for them to stop sending me paper statements to avoid the monthly fee it's been nothing but a headache dealing with them. I don't usually leave reviews, but this time it's warranted. Garbage!
Horrible Customer Service and Business Practices
One star is being generous when leaving this review. I submitted a “reimburse myself” request in April of 2023. Somewhere, it got lost in the system. I resubmitted the request on May 23, 2023. I requested the balance in our account since we no longer fund this account. A check was sent to me for the balance that was in the account on May 23. I deposited the check as soon as I got it (around May 29). Today, June 5, my bank charged my account and a fee for a returned check. My Benefit Wallet sent me a check to zero out my account, in the few days they also charged a monthly maintenance fee. This caused a NSF for the balance of the check. So, they basically wrote me a bad check that wasn’t funded!!! Customer service was horrible! I now have to resubmit the claim again and also hope that they also reimburse me for my bank fees! This was the WORST experience! DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY IF YOU DON’T HAVE TO!
No service, bad service, and untrustworthy
Tried for two months to submit documents.
Had several "customer service" reps give me false information.
Had someone else tell me new people might not know correct information due to training problems when I asked why I was told incorrect information
Submitted 7 messages through their message center with only "call this number" responses.
There is no service, employees are lying to customers, they are holding my money hostage. I will not use them again and have encouraged my company to find a different provider.
Terrible company to work with
Terrible customer service. They deny EVERY claim, even with detailed documentation. Then you send more info and they still deny. It seems this company enjoys denying claims then they can draw interest on all of OUR money. My company used to use ConnectYourCare - which was better. BenefitWallet is horrible no matter which department you deal with.

Is there an option for 0 stars? They are just terrible. Entered an on-line transaction to transfer funds to my checking account and it has been in "processing" state for weeks. I tried to email to find out why and got a response 2 days later that just said call center is busy - and it was dated July 2024! Tried to call and after being kept on hold for 90 minutes, the rep in the Philippines told me my transaction was paused for verification. I answered all the verification questions (which was really a lie on their part because I was transferring to the same checking account I transfer to every quarter) and yet, transaction is still in "processing" state a week later. They are holding my money for no reason and will not release it.
BenefitWallet is NOT the one to use
BenefitWallet operates under some very questionable business practices. If you have to use them, be extremely mindful that you need to watch every penny. They are known for taking your money and making it nearly impossible to use. If you can choose any other HSA company you will be better off.
