An unforgettable experience! The team at M Trek and Tour was professional and attentive throughout the journey. Thank you for making this trip so special.
We had a great trek from Chefchouen to Oued Laou, Northern Morocco, over four days and three nights. Our guide was Jaouad, and he was wonderful. We are English, and trekked with Mum, Dad and two kids, 11 & 9. All of the arrangements were smooth and as advertised, albeit with flexibility as required. Jaouad was also supported by a very local guide, Mohamed (who was all a delight) , and they appeared to work well together, collaborating a using their respective knowledge and skills. We felt safe and well looked after throughout. Our baggage was transferred to save carrying more than a day pack with essentials and that also worked flawlessly. The hospitality of the local families with whom we stayed and ate was a real highlight. The food was varied and substantial. Jaouad deserves a special shout out. He works on tours all over Morocco, though calls the High Atlas home. If he is available for your tour then you will be very well served.
This tour exceeded our expectations in every way. We, 4 ladies from 80-73 who have all traveled widely, learned a great deal about the history and culture of Morocco from our attentive and thoughtful guide, Lhoucine. We were with him for 17 days touring the high points of the cities, staying in varied and lovely riads, and visiting souks and madrassas. The high point of our tour was 4 nights spent in the High Atlas mountain valley of Ait Bougamaz, enjoying leisurely walks through apple orchards with a donkey carrying our picnics. We were there for Eid and enjoyed being invited into local homes and observing Berber dancing.
We felt privileged to enjoy a thoughtfully planned tour, partially during Ramadan, in excellent company and in comfort. We finished our tour in the seaside town of Essaouira with an in-ryad hamman. It was a perfect ending to a fabulous trip.
I’m a great believer in using local tour agents when booking a trip to a new country. The bigger firms often use these local agents to handle the actual management of a tour so why not go direct and cut out the middleman? MTrek and Tour did a fantastic job first helping us plan our bespoke tour and then ferrying us around in air-conditioned comfort - picking us up at Marrakech airport then on to Rabat, Chefchaouen, Fes, Midelt, The Shahara, Dades, Ouarzazate, Taroudant and back to Marrakech and home. They picked ten different riads and hotels for our tour and while there were stand-outs there wasn’t a single bad choice. In fact, we’d have loved a week in each.
Our guide, Mohamed was always there for us and dealt with our needs with care and good humour.
For those who haven’t visited Morocco, it is a gorgeous country with fascinating historical and natural treasures. There’s also a little shopping thrown in from great ceramics to wooden artefacts. Overall, both MTrek and Morocco are thoroughly recommended.
Our group of five agree the experience exceeded our expectations- this is largely due to the comprehensive itinerary and the experience of our guide, Jamal, and the super driver, Houssein.
We worked closely with Angela to develop a 19 day itinerary that took in all of Morocco- from the High Atlas, to the dessert to the ocean. We were able to get a comprehensive look at this lovely country.
Jamal was fantastic - there was never a question we asked (and there were many) that he could not answer whether it be about plants and animals, Berber culture, history, Islam, food and so much more. He looked out for our safety and was always aware that he was dealing with five people who ranged in age from 76 to 83. He was good natured, with an engaging sense of humor and unbelievable patience. We could not have asked for a better person to introduce us to the wonders of Morocco.
Similarly, Houseein was one of the best drivers we have ever seen; he also was patient, quiet and unassuming. He maneuvered up steep hills, along narrow roads and congested city traffic with confidence and expertise. We always felt safe.
Simply put, M. Trek and Tour is 'the best!'
