Terrible Experience: Unprofessional Management and Pest Issues
We had a highly disappointing and distressing experience at Monarch House during our 9-day stay. On the first night, we found a huge black spider in our apartment. On the third night, we encountered a mouse, and on the fourth night, we found another mouse. This was extremely unsettling, especially with young children and food present.
Despite the initial positive impression of the hotel and its staff, the response from the General Manager, Issam, to our complaint was shockingly unprofessional and dismissive. Instead of addressing our concerns with the seriousness they deserved, Issam practically implied that having pests is normal, stating, "In a cosmopolitan city such as London, every property contracts a pest control provider and the reason for the latter is that everyone is exposed to pest without exception." This response downplayed the severity of our experience and showed a lack of empathy and professionalism.
After we encountered the second mouse incident, we refused to stay in the same apartment, and only then were we moved to a different apartment. However, our family still felt unsafe and uncomfortable, and our children were terrified for three days.
We expected much more from a hotel that markets itself as upper-class and charges premium rates. Unfortunately, Monarch House failed to provide the peace of mind and safe environment we paid for.
We strongly advise potential guests to reconsider staying here, as our documented experience has shown a lack of care for guest well-being and an unwillingness to address serious issues adequately.
