A miracle in my life, everyone with back pain should know about
You might think your pain is here to stay, you might think you only need to work out more or listen to your physical therapist and do more exercises. This is what your own doctor probably will tell you.
But if you have Modic changes, your doctor will then be wrong.
Modic changes is an inflammatory condition in the spine, a result of earlier back injuries such as a prolapsed intervertebral disc/diskusprolaps/diskbråck - and the method of treatment is not working out or exercises - it’s antibiotics.
I was in serious pain for two years, starting in August 2018, and went all the way through the mill of wrong, medical advice.
No exercises will make an inflammation weaker. Working out in fact makes the pain stronger.
So after trying following my doctor’s and physical therapist’s advice - not improving even a little - for a good while, I felt that there had to be something else to find out. As I got to know my pain and its patterns in full detail, I was finally able to search specific enough to stumble upon this phenomenon and this Danish clinic.
At this point I was in severe pain, having difficulty with a lot of daily activities such as turning around in bed, walking up and down stairways, getting my shoes on etc. I was also on heavy pain killers and muscle relaxers 24/7.
I started on my antibiotics (3000 milligrams / day for 100 days) in February 2021. The prognosis for the treatment is that the improvements start successively sometime during the 100 days, and keep on going until about 2 years have passed since the starting point. Today, I am 100 % pain free. This most certainly feels like a miracle in my life - and something everyone dealing with these problems should know about. And, your doctor will most probably not help you.
So if you live in this house of pain, do yourself a favor: take the online test on the webpage of the Modic clinic. If it has a positive result, you need to talk your doctor into sending you to an MR clinic. Then you ask for the result of the scan on a CD, which you send to the Modic clinic, who initially will diagnose if you have Modic Changes for free. If you do, I’d strongly advice you to get help from the clinic. To me, they’re heroes.
