Charged twice and service not delivered

Charged twice and service not delivered

I requested an unlock for my Motorola Moto G 5G (XT2417-1) and the company charged me twice: first for the initial eligibility check and then again for a so‑called “release fee.” Even after paying, nothing was delivered.

They sent an email saying my unlock was “ready to be released,” but no actual unlock was provided. Communication stopped being clear, and the service never progressed.

Being charged twice for a service that was never completed feels misleading and unfair. I am requesting a full refund and cannot recommend this company based on my experience.

Beware! Use this company with caution!

After mistakenly thinking I was on EE because of how the website looked, I was charged £14 for the initial ‘eligibility check’ to see if my iPhone was eligible to be unlocked. If I’d read the small print, I would have know this was the first of further charges. So, I’d gone this far, (still stupidly not realising I wasn’t dealing directly with EE) and to complete the unlock, there was a further £30 charge
I went ahead. It took hours to get to the 99% complete stage. After many hours of refreshing the page, I contacted the help desk. I got a swift reply, (within 30 minutes) saying not to worry, everything is in order, the technicians are working on the unlock.
Many hours later, I emailed them again. The response was basically the unlock was still at 99%, and the ‘technicians’ might need to do further testing at another charge. This is when my belated ‘scam radar’ finally kicked in
I asked about a full no quibble refund. Was told the initial legibility check was not refundable, and to hold fire for now, as the unlock would only take a further NINE DAYS AND six hours to complete! And if I request a refund at this point I would go to the back of the queue and future unlock requests could affect my phone.
So, after letting rip to them about it being a scam and demanding the phone unlock immediately and the threat of being unwilling to pay further charges, I finally got an email - the next morning - letting me know my iPhone was actually now unlocked.
My phone was eventually unlocked - at a price, and many hours worry that I was being scammed. Use this company with caution.

MOBILE UNLOCK INSTANT service IS FRAUDULENT

As their ads state that this is an instant service I sent $28 USD. The next day I received another demand for $66 USD and as a senior that lives in a remote area and need a cell for emergencies I obliged. I never received the service and now Merchant is blocking my e-mails requesting updates and refund due to no service. I reported them to BMO.

Scam

Scam
Just for clarity, I purchased this devise from walmart in 2020, used the service from Straight talk on this phone for a little over 2 years. wanted to giver to my daughter for a "starter phone" but needed it to be unlocked to give mint mobile a try......and this ensued.
After paying the initial fee of $26, the response i got 24 hours later.
Your Device is very expensive and is subsidised by the network over the length of the device contract, this network requires an additional unlock release fee to cover their loss of revenue from the abandoned device contract, as soon as it’s cleared you will be able to use the device
However, if no further payment is made by yourself within 14 days we will remove the unlock and no further payment will be due.
Kind Regards

Avoid this company

I was completely mislead by this company in terms of the costs for the service.
The service required a “pre order charge” of €23 with provisos written into the T&Cs which state that the pre-order charge will be “offset against the final unlocking amount which may exceed the pre order charge depending on the carrier / contract of the device.”
Ts&Cs only mention a”blocked device” and unpaid bill as examples for an extra cost.
Following the process through, my application was straightforward, no problems appeared in their summation. My phone was ready to be unlocked ….. once I’d paid the additional charge. I was not informed as to what this was.
Once again, following through the process, it was not until the final bank detail page that I was made aware of what this charge was…..€64.
I had already paid €23 and expected to pay a further €64.
They made no effort to elucidate how this additional
charge was calculated.
My contract with the provider had been terminated with all bills paid. No problems there.

Needless to say, I refused to complete the transaction and asked for a refund of my €23 as the service had not been delivered.

The costs involved and how they are calculated should be upfront, before a client commits.
Should there be any unforeseen additional costs, these should be put to the client with the exact reasons for the charge, as soon as they become apparent, NOT at the very end when giving one’s bank details.

They did not respond to my email asking for a refund and explanation.

This is a duplicitous company. Avoid it!
