I have never posted a Trustpilot review before, but after this experience I genuinely feel obligated to document it for other parents and customers considering this company.
I purchased a Miko 3 AI Robot for Kids through Amazon as a Christmas gift for my child. Within less than three months, the device became non-functional due to what appears to be a battery/charging-related failure.
What followed has now become approximately 2.5 months of one of the most circular and exhausting customer-support experiences I have ever encountered.
Over that period, I fully cooperated with every request made by Miko support, including:
• repeated troubleshooting,
• multiple rounds of videos,
• repeated photo requests,
• invoices and order documentation,
• address verification,
• escalation requests,
• callback discussions,
• and continued follow-up communications.
Despite all of this, the company still has not provided:
• a prepaid return label,
• a replacement device,
• a refund,
• or a concrete operational resolution timeline.
Instead, the explanations have continuously evolved over time:
• “technical issues,”
• “courier-partner issues,”
• repeated requests for “one more week,”
• requests for patience,
• requests that I self-ship the defective product,
• and now broader logistical explanations tied to international events.
Meanwhile, the product was also tied to a paid annual subscription that became materially unusable once the hardware failed. I ultimately canceled the subscription to avoid future renewal charges, yet meaningful reimbursement discussions regarding the unusable subscription value never meaningfully occurred.
At this point, the issue is no longer simply that a product failed. Products fail sometimes. What has been shocking is the prolonged inability to execute what should be a basic customer-remediation process over the course of nearly three months despite extensive documented customer cooperation throughout.
The matter has now escalated through Amazon Executive Customer Relations, formal BBB complaint channels, and additional marketplace/vendor-accountability routes. I have preserved the full chronology of communications, including every major email chain, Amazon marketplace message, escalation notice, extension request, and evolving explanation associated with this process.
What has made this experience especially concerning is that, while researching the issue during this process, I found other customer reviews describing remarkably similar patterns involving prolonged unresolved support cycles, repeated delay explanations, return-label issues, and recurring requests for additional time.
After nearly three months of repeated extension requests and evolving explanations without operational resolution, the process began to feel less like genuine remediation and more like an indefinite cycle of delay. Despite extensive customer cooperation throughout, meaningful resolution still never materialized.
At this stage, I am utilizing multiple formal accountability avenues, including Amazon Executive Customer Relations, BBB complaint channels, and additional marketplace/vendor-accountability routes, because it is difficult to understand how any company could consider this level of prolonged unresolved support acceptable customer treatment.
What has been most disappointing is not simply that a product failed, but that after approaching multiple months of documented support activity, repeated escalation notices, shifting explanations, and extensive customer cooperation, meaningful accountability and straightforward refund or replacement resolution still never proactively occurred.
I genuinely believe prospective customers deserve visibility into experiences like this when evaluating whether they want to commit to a company’s products and subscription ecosystem.

The Square Off NEO was paid for via Indiegogo on 12.12.2019. In 2023, I was then charged and paid again for high shipping costs. Later, Miko acquired the company Square Off and offered me the Miko 3 robot as an alternative, which I declined. I was informed that delivery would start soon, but as of March 2026, after seven years, I have received nothing but empty promises. Therefore, I would like to warn others about the company MIKO.

Customer service has been THE BEST! While I do wish you could add more than one profile to switch between kids (buying multiple robots for each kid would be kind of crazy, not to mention them all going at the same time). My 3 year old LOVES the “vooks” and my 6 year old loves the games. It was definitely a great Christmas surprise!

It would be no stars for me if I could. Bought this for my daughter's 6th birthday. The delivery time was delayed more than 2 weeks. When I did finally receive it, after emailing several times to locate it, we received a used, hairy re-taped several times box. Inside the box the robot feet were dirty as if it rolled across 100 miles outside. And the battery life wouldn't stay on unless plugged in. It never took a charge. After contracting customer support they insisted I do a Google meet to fix the battery. Sorry support team, you cannot fix this over a meet. I asked for a return several times, the support person was not having it. You can't just go online to request a return. They have to agree to accept it. I also ordered the cards to go with it. Those never came. After getting the approval to return I sent it out immediately. Tracked the package all the way back and it still took weeks to get a refund and several emails and a bank dispute. I will never buy there products again. The whole process was frustrating. $300 was allot to lose. $200 for the robot, and $100 for the yearly subscription which we are still fighting for the return on a month later. Good luck with these guys. It's a joke.

Ordered a chess board miko chess grand 3 weeks ago and I still dont have any tracking information, my order just says waiting on details. You contact their customer service email it says to , support at miko.ai , ( cant use an actual amail but this is the one they provide) but they are of no help. They can't even provide me with information if they even got the order. They wont provide me with any details about my order yet they took my money. Ive contacted my attorney and they are going to pursue to sue this company. We will get this business shut down so consumers aren't having to go through this. I got you folks! MIKO IS GOING DOWN!

Do not buy
Dont spend money !
Not worth it
Customer service sucks !
I am extremely disappointed with my experience with the Miko 3 robot and its customer service. What was supposed to be a fun and educational product for my child has turned into a very frustrating situation.
I purchased the robot and also paid for the Max subscription, which is not cheap. Unfortunately, after trying to follow troubleshooting steps and update the device, I ended up deleting the profile. Since then, I have completely lost access to the subscription I already paid for. Despite reaching out multiple times, not a single customer service representative has been able to restore my account or give me access back.
I was offered one year free as a replacement, but that does not resolve the issue because I still cannot use the subscription I originally paid for. It feels unfair to lose access to something I paid for due to lack of proper support.
To make matters worse, the robot was a Christmas gift and was opened later, so by the time these issues started, I was told I could no longer return it because it was past the return window. Now I am stuck with an expensive product that my daughter cannot even use properly.
This entire experience has been stressful and disappointing. I expected a much higher level of support for a product marketed to families and children. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this product unless significant improvements are made in both functionality and customer service.

Like many others I was expecting miko to honour my chess board project backing and purchase of extras.
Years later they are still fobbing me off with excuses that they don’t have items in stock.
Do yourself a favour and do not do business with them. They are absolute charlatans and cannot be trusted to deliver on their promises.
Edited in response to Miko comment- note that at no point did I say that Miko had a project on kickstarter. They did, however, acquire the business that did and made commitments to honour outstanding issues. The following is an extract from their last email to me
“ Greetings from Team Miko!
We understand your concerns regarding the accessories, which were additional items. Unfortunately, we currently do not have stock available for these accessories, and we are unable to provide an estimated date for when they will be back in stock. Please be assured that we will notify you promptly and initiate the ordering process as soon as the items become available.
Thank you once again for your continued support and patience. We are committed to keeping you informed with further updates as progress continues.
Should you have any additional questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us by replying to this email.”

Do not recommend. Bought a one and someone did not unlink there account and it says to email so they can fix it and of course all they did was run me around all for nothing. Waste of money.

In the 1-star chess board reviews, Miko says this has nothing to do with them… funny, in an email to backers Miko wrote “In the ever-evolving global scenario, Miko has acquired a majority stake in Square Off and is collaborating closely with the Square Off team towards fulfillment of rewards… shipments expected in the first half of 2024.”

Despite their lies claiming they aren’t the company responsible for the infamous chess boards that have never been delivered… THEY ARE. Wouldn’t go near them!!!! Stop lying and deliver the boards Miko and we’ll stop giving you bad reviews.

Miko aquired SquareOff an Indiegogo backed Neo and Swap boards. They promised to deliver boards soon after aquasition, but I still haven't received my product. Despite waiting for a long time, there has been no delivery or clear update. This experience has been very frustrating. I request the team to either deliver my order immediately or provide a full refund.

The Miko 3 has been such a massive hit in our house lately. It is honestly refreshing to find a gadget that manages to be genuinely educational without losing the fun factor that keeps a kid actually interested. We’ve seen a real spark in curiosity since it arrived, especially with the interactive games and stories that feel more like playtime than a learning session.
One of the best things about it is the personality. It’s surprisingly expressive and responsive, which makes it feel like a little buddy rather than just another plastic toy sitting on a shelf. It reacts to voices and faces in a way that feels really intuitive for a young child.
As a parent, I really appreciate the control I have through the app. It’s easy to track what he’s engaging with and manage screen time without any of the usual tech headaches. Plus, the build quality is solid enough to handle the daily energy of a four-year-old. If you're looking for a smart, safe, and engaging companion for your little one, I can’t recommend this little robot enough!

I am backer #528. I paid $239 in January 2020. It is now 2026 and I still have nothing. The support team (Salman) keeps sending me "urgent review" templates for 2 years now. They admitted they have no stock but refuse to refund the shipping fees I already paid. Do not trust this company.

Miko has a bug bounty program, which states "Miko strives to acknowledge receipt of all submitted vulnerability reports within 1 month of submission."
I submitted a bug report more than two months ago, they fixed the security vulnerability, and have since ghosted me.
Very unprofessional. Support has been useless.

Backed the chessboard on IndieGOGO which is most likely where most of those saying 'Kickstarter' actually mean, but it's been six years... Still no product. I have emailed my backing with proof of investment to Miko again, and will see if anything comes of it.
Now seeing them popping up with influencers before the people that backed them. Poor PR move, but that's just my opinion.
For now, they simply seem to have left a lot of backers empty. If the service can do that, what would they do elsewhere? Will amend if they finally fulfill.
UPDATE: FWIW, I did get a quick response shortly after emailing support and posting here, and they said 'Since acquiring SquareOff, the Miko team has been working hard to resolve...', so stay tuned, and possibly email the support email your IndieGOGO info to get on the books! Def make sure you lookup your IndieGOGO info, not Kickstarter!
