If possible, go with others

The good:
- rent is reasonably price
The bad:
- alot of hidden costs, no proper information about what is included or not. The rent only include water and heating while electricity, gas, and internet you have to arrange on your own. They may help you arrange but for another extra fee
- not helpful. If you have a problem about the house, you are asked to resolve it by yourselves. They offer to
“Help” but of course with another extra fee
- they seems to only care about your money

Is it even an agency?

Never got even a chance to speak with a agent from this company. I requested to view at least 20 apartments from this agency, wrote a personalised email to their address but got no response, but automated rejections without any explanations.
Also, they removed their office from google maps with a lot of honest reviews on their services

Horrendous Experience with Mijn Huis en…

Horrendous Experience with Mijn Huis en Ik – Beware of Their Dishonesty and Lack of Responsibility!

If I could give zero stars to Mijn Huis en Ik, I would. My experience with them has been nothing short of a nightmare, and I am writing this in hopes of preventing others from going through the same ordeal.

Recently, I received a staggering bill of €5390.55 for a leakage at 1D01 Achter de Barakken. Despite my zero involvement, the agency and its representatives have done everything in their power to unfairly push the blame on me.

Here’s a breakdown of the outrageous events:
1. Baseless accusations from the start: The contact person, Vincent (which mijn huis en ik is not aware of, huh a bit weird for someone that claims to be the maitenance guy for mijn huis en ik), immediately blamed me, claiming I left the boiler door open, which supposedly allowed someone to sabotage the system. However:

I was specifically asked multiple times by the agency to leave the door open for inspections. Their accusations are completely misleading.
There’s no logical reason why leaving the door open would cause the leak. I had a good relationship with my housemates, and there was never any issue of sabotage or tampering. Even Vincent admitted that homeless people who occasionally entered the building only stayed in the basement near the washing machines, far from the boiler.
2. Shocking claim that tenants are responsible for boiler maintenance: Vincent also suggested that I was responsible for maintaining the boiler in my corridor. This is absurd! At no point in renting a property should a tenant be expected to maintain critical infrastructure like a boiler. Despite the fact that I have warned by email mijn huis en ik about the despicable state of the boiler room way before the leak happened, no one came to check its state.

On several occasions, instead of sending professionals, I was asked to check the boiler’s state through WhatsApp messages! How is it acceptable to expect tenants, with no technical knowledge, to handle such tasks?
I am not a handyman and shouldn’t be expected to have tools or expertise to maintain or even check something as complex as a boiler system.
3. Shady conversations between the landlord and the maintenance team: When the leak occurred, the landlord and Vincent (the guy that no one knows at mijn huis en ik) I overheard the landlord say in Dutch (which I understand perfectly after 10+ years in the Netherlands), “Ik ga niet betalen voor de schade” – “I’m not paying for the damages.” It was clear they were looking for someone to take the fall, and I was their target.

Without even fully investigating, I was immediately accused of causing the leak and told I would have to pay.
I wasn’t insured for building damages (which I didn’t even know was required AND BE CAREFUL ACCORDING TO DUTCH LAW LANDLORDS SHOULD INSURED REGARDLESS OF WHAT IS WRITTEN ON THE CONTRACT), and as soon as I said that, the landlord made it clear I would be held responsible.
4. Vincent’s inconsistent and untrustworthy behavior: At first, Vincent admitted the leakage was due to a pressure problem with the boiler, something that should clearly exempt me from any blame (there were a lot of temperature changes when it happened). However, after I received the bill, he completely changed his story and started accusing me of causing the problem. His flip-flopping on the issue is suspicious, and I can’t help but wonder if there are personal interests between him and the landlord, given how suddenly his attitude changed.

The bottom line:
This agency has demonstrated nothing but dishonesty, lack of accountability, and poor communication. When i showed up physically to their office after finding the situation too strefull for me, i realise that no one ever opened my emails and went through all the proofs that I have submitted to them. They’ve unfairly pinned the blame for a massive leak on me without proper investigation, leaving me with a €5390.55 bill that I cannot afford (which btw they have been so kind to reduce to 1500 euros after agreeing on some deal. Their unprofessionalism and unethical behavior have caused me enormous stress and put me in an impossible financial situation.

I’ve tried to be open and find a solution, but they have shown no interest in fairness or compromise. Instead, they have manipulated the situation, twisted facts, and burdened me with a cost I did not deserve.

If you had a similar experience reach out to me. Uniting our strenght and confronting them with their practices is the only way to stop them. I am taking this case to court and well be stronger together than alone, if anyone has had their money taken from these peeps and has proofs that theyre scammers, dont hesitate, it is time to stop them.

DO NOT RENT FROM THEM. AVOID PROBLEMS
