Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 50 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Many customers reported that repairs often failed to resolve initial problems or, concerningly, introduced new issues, sometimes even damaging their vehicles. People frequently experienced misdiagnoses, leading to unnecessary work or services not performed despite being charged. However, some customers also noted significant dissatisfaction with staff interactions, describing them as rude, dismissive, or unhelpful. Many felt they were overcharged or pressured into unnecessary repairs, with some reporting damage to their property. Conversely, a small portion of people felt satisfied, praising the staff for being friendly, helpful, and providing excellent customer service, often highlighting reasonable pricing and efficient service.

Midas at 1873 Danforth Ave in Toronto…

Midas at 1873 Danforth Ave in Toronto did an oil change on my car & the clown who did the work didn't put an oil filter back in place. I found that out when I had my car tow to a garage. BEWARE. Shoddy workmanship.

Very satisfied customer

I showed up thirty Minties early for my appt they took me right in. I went next door for lunch and within 20 minutes I got a call my car was ready for pickup. When I went back in, they did not try to up sell me products or repairs. They stuck to the price I was quoted from the day before. It was a very friendly and efficient staff. In the past I have had bad experiences with other shops, I will definitely go back to this shop.

Misogynistic, called me "girl" not my name

Stop taking advantage of women, of young people, and of those who come to you for help. You're not cool. You're not better than someone due to age, gender, or specialized knowledge. You're a sad man who doesn't see me as a person.

Not only did they attach two separate already broken parts to my car, but they charged for both broken parts. They did not provide updates unless I asked for them, and when I did ask a question they refused to look at me, talk to me, or acknowledge that I was there. I waited for 9 full hours and they took a fully drivable car and made it impossible to drive instead of fixing anything. Throughout the entire day they would call me "girl," smoke while sitting in my car, and when I pointed out these issues they moved the car to the other end of the garage so I could no longer see them working on it. They told me to leave several times and that they would call me when the work was done. I left because I had not eaten for 24 straight hours at that point. I came back and was verbally berated for leaving the shop and made to wait 2 more hours before I finally told them I wanted the keys back, I wanted to leave, and once in the garage I could see that no one was working on my car anymore. I was then talked to in an incredibly misogynistic, rude, disgusting, sexist way by the manager who refused to acknowledge that he was at fault for this entire process. I am a law student who needs this car for my job. I work at the local courthouse part time while also going to interviews and classes. Professionalism is key and it's not possible to do these things in a suit without a car in Gainesville. When I was in that exact shop last year a customer was offered a rental car when the shop broke her car, I was told this time that this shop has never done such a thing and that I was clearly lying. So I was forced to pay for TWO BROKEN PARTS, for the NINE HOURS my car was held hostage and BROKEN, and then for a tow truck, for a rental car, for multiple Ubers, and I had to reschedule several job interviews because of the NINE HOURS that Friday where I was trapped in that shop.

Your employees chose to treat me like an idiot and a forgiving child because they saw a youthful-appearing woman with blonde hair. Do better.

Midas adds 9% fee for "Consumable Products"

In my last two invoices from Midas, I noticed an extra fee for "Consumable Products". The amount was 9% of the subtotal for parts and labour.
Since the only obvious "consumable products" were the oil added plus any parts that I purchased, that cost was already included under "Parts".
This did not make sense. The woman at the desk was not able to give me a rational explanation, but what she seemed to be saying was that this charge was for wear-and-tear on their tools!
In my opinion this is obscene! What justification do they have for adding 9% for wear and tear on their tools ... especially given that the subtotal included the oil, which is not a tool? Why don't they add a surcharge for rent? Or use of their toilet?
It's obvious to me that they are counting on customers not noticing this on their invoice and simply paying a hidden 9% "junk fee"!
BEWARE when dealing with Midas (in Canada in any case)!

They are scammers trying to steal money

The used to be a good honorable company but have dramatically changed. I brought my car in for an oil change 4 months ago and they said it had an oil leak among other things. I had problems with the car after this and had to force them to set things right. I brought my car back for another oil change and they tried the same scam that my car was leaking oil. I reminded them that they already fixed the leak and suddenly the oil leak vanished. I was asked to bring my car back a week later so they could check to make sure they fixed it. When I returned I asked them not to roll down the windows because of a faulty sensor that prevents me from rolling the window back up. They decided to roll down the window anyway and hide that they did this by raising the window so that there was an inch opening. They thought I would not notice. That's how dishonest they are. Now I have to struggle to get my window closed because they won't listen to their customers. Go someplace else not these guys!!!!!!! Wish I could give them zero stars.

I’ve been taking my vehicles to the Midas in Gurnee near the Gurnee Mills Mall for the last 11 years. They are very customer service oriented and their diagnostic ability is amazing. I have always been very satisfied with their service and find them to be trustworthy. Thanks Josh, Dan and all the team!!!

Poor experience

My Cadillac had an engine light on. It was diagnosed incorrectly by Midas and they replaced a vent value at a 250% markup over a dealer price. Crazy. To make matters worse the light came back on. I took it to the dealer and it confirmed a misdiagnosis . The issue was a wiring issue and not the fault valve. I will never use this firm ever again.

We took our car to see if there was a need for brake pads!

We took our car to see if there was a need for brake pads and basically were afraid work would need to be done.
A great rep by the name of Presley assisted us and called to say brakes were good as well as pads after their review and driving our vehicle.
This was GREAT news and we appreciated the honesty and saving us a repair bill.
So important to have an honest business that we can trust and will continue to do business with.

Thanks Midas crew // Amarillo

Horrible customer service

Horrible customer service. Run away from Midas in Aurora at Havanna. I had to take my car there for a quick tire pressure and alignment, but I regret it. The next very day the tire pressure light went on and I found out nothing was done regarding tire pressure. I went to ask to tell them and the lady at the front desk told me that it was hot and tire pressure had changed I told her there was a difference of 10 between the two tires in the back. She just said "I don't know", and kind of dealt with it. I asked her if I could talk to a mechanic and I had to go and search for one, she did not even call a mechanic to talk to me, the guy was nice and fixed the pressure in my tires.

Midas State Line goes the extra mile

The boys at the State Line Midas in K.C., MO really did me a favor today. They fixed the front plastic cowling in the wheel well at no cost to me. It was rubbing on the front tire. Now I know why Midas State Line is the only repair shop I let touch my vehicle. It may seem like a little thing to you but to me it just helps prove how much they care about the Customer's needs. Its things like this combined with their knowledge of vehicles that makes me a Midas Customer for life. Thanks again Midas State Line!!

Do not use

Had lent a family friend my car to use. Before he returned it he was nice enough to have the oil changed brakes and alignment checked. Midas did not torque the oil plug down to spec. Well the plug fell out and my motor blew. Midas is refusing to replace the motor saying the car has been driven a few thousand miles and said how do we know it wasn't tempered with. I'm 51 years old I keep up on the maintenance on my vehicle. I do not recommend using Midas for anything.
