I work from home and I’m a single Mom. I don’t love the education system because more time is spent teaching discipline and ‘crowd control’ than is actually spent teaching. Don’t get me wrong - teachers are great - I even went to school to be a special education teacher, but sadly teaching barely pays a livable wage in this economy. Ntm, the job was much different than I believed when I was a younger version of myself, excited to go to college and ‘really start’ my life-long journey of learning. Sadly the job has become more like wardens that spend most of their days trying to get a very large amount of students focused and on task, all at the same time to reach out what amounts to 5-15 mins of actual instruction and learning. For this and many other reasons, I have wanted to homeschool my children for quite awhile now and switching to a career in telehealth has given me this opportunity to be the ‘stay-at-home’ Mom I want to be, while still supporting myself and my kids who don’t have a father anymore. It has been a huge blessing and allows us to fulfill some of our dreams, despite our loss. It definitely requires planning and learners that can work independently. Miacademy has provided the perfect solution that allows my children to do her school work by watching videos and following along with guided notes and activities, helping her to learn at her own pace while also being mostly independent. The concepts and ideas are taught in a fun, sensible way that helps my daughter be excited to learn. When she isn’t able to catch on to a concept or idea, we work on it after work or on the weekends even. She loves the flexibility of choosing what she wants to learn about and testing out of what she already knows so she doesn’t feel frustrated and bored like she often did in public school. Most importantly my daughter is happier, healthier, more motivated, and more interested in learning than I have ever seen her before. I owe a lot of making this possible to MiAcademy and their fun & creative curriculum that works with individual family wants and needs, as well as giving the child control and confidence in their own learning.

We've used miacademy for 2 years, we bought the lifetime subscription. We like the classes well enough. But it's frustrating because they change things all the time and we have to relearn the system every few weeks. But they are always looking to improve so I guess that's not the worst thing.
But they have partnered with the governments new program for homeschoolers in Texas and our co op community is not happy about it. Government funding sounds great at first, but the government isn't doing it to be nice. There are always strings attached. Currently Texas has the most homeschool freedoms than any other state. Anyone who is backing this new funding program needs to look at the long term effects this will have on the families who want to have control over their children's education. For me, miacademy went from a 5 star online education program that I recommended to everyone (our co op had 12 families join because of our recommendations) to a 2 star rating because of their involvement with the government run program

Miacademy has always been very prompt and responsive to any issues that have arisen. I greatly appreciate their being proactive about a larger issue involving one of their partners and promising to resolve as best as they can.

My children are so excited to learn since they've started with Miacademy and Miaprep. As a new homeschooling mom their platform has allowed me to become transparent an way more involved in my children curriculum and the flexibility is top tier!

We’ve tried several other online platforms and Miacademy is by far the best. We love that courses are completely customizable and the video lessons are very engaging. My kids love Justin! All the lessons are very well done. I also love that Miacademy is always looking for ways to improve, and they take parent feedback very seriously.

My daughter and I both love Mia. She is learning and thriving now. Finding her a homeschool curriculum that she likes was difficult. She has autism, ADHD, ODD and anxiety. I am still pushing for an app based program, that would make it so much better for any neurodivergent child.

I like that this curriculum includes all subjects for a well-rounded education. I appreciate the extra curricular activities offered. I feel that the pdf booklets you can order are a great supplement to the lessons. We've used the Ancient History and US Government booklets so far. The social aspect adds to the experience, as my son has enjoyed creating things to share with the Miacademy community. And Miacademy keeps it safe by requiring the parent and Miacademy staff to approve what the student wants to share before it's posted for the Miacademy community to see. Basically it's a prequal to social media.

There are a couple things I don't care for, however. I don't like all the time spent on the computer, and for that reason I've sourced book curriculum from other companies for science and language arts. I don't like that the math curriculum doesn't provide explanations for the problems the students get wrong. How are they supposed to know where they went wrong?!

All in all we've had a pretty good experience thus far!

We switched mid year to this program and my daughter loves it. Totally different from what we used to do buts she's understanding everything a lot better . Customer service being great answering all my questions

For the past three years, Miacademy has been my preferred homeschool platform while educating children in my community. Each year, the program has continued to improve, especially in its curriculum and engaging activities. This year’s Black History Month curriculum stood out as particularly impressive.
