Like many others its buy and then buy again

My experience seems to be like many here, bought 1:50K full set of CD maps years ago (still have purchase details and original disks) but unable to use my licence after some time, they asked me to purchase a legacy licence which I did and so I could use them on 1 device. But I had to replace it and bought full set of 1:25K HD maps from MM, asked if I could use my 50K maps on the same device but answer is buy them again.

The site says they were never sold with any contractual support,
But they were never shown as any kind of time limited contract which would be disabled.

It seems pretty poor to me that something I paid for twice is not useable and they want me to buy a third time .
Beware all buyers

My memory map has broken glass and front clear cover. Means the connection tag to operate the device is broken.
All I need is a replacement screen and glass. Where can I buy one. Have all my routes stored on machine

I see a lot of negative reviews so thought I'd try and re-balance with my experience.

I do a lot of hiking on Dartmoor, Snowdonia, Brecon Beacons and other places.

I actually find the software pretty good on Windows computer for planning my hikes. I find planning a hike on a smartphone screen too challenging!

I then move the GPX files from memory map to my GPS device or mobile phone.

No major issues with the software. I use both the PC and iOS Memory Map apps.

What I particularly like is the choice between subscription or perpetual license for maps. I prefer the perpetual option rather than being tied in for life to a subscription. Only a few map programs now offer the perpetual license option.

I've never contacted their customer support so can't comment on how good or bad they are.

But the software and maps work fine.

Robbed

Years ago I bought what I thought was life-time access to 1:25 OS Maps UK wide. It cost me £125 but now that my PC has updated my licence with Memory Maps has elapsed. Customer service is non-existent. This is not a company I will ever consider buying from again.

Good but with limitations

As a UK-based walker I evaluated Memory Map for a couple of weeks, comparing it with the OS Mapping app which costs a little less that MM. Memory Map is overall a good app but has the following limitations which led me to decide to use OS Mapping despite the fact that this app can also be quirky.

When I view a Memory Map on my PC I can use the mouse to zoom in and out and move around. That's OK. On my android mobile or my iPad when I am using two fingers to zoom in and out it is frequently erratic. It does not hold the position I have zoomed to but rather will often go larger or smaller to a greater or lesser degree. I do not experience this problem with either OS Mapping or Google Maps where the zooming in and out is smooth and accurate

There is no option for automatic syncing between PC, iPad & mobile phone? Syncing has to be done manually and there is a higher subscription rate for more than 10 syncs per month. OS Mapping syncs automatically and without additional charge.

I questioned Memory Map about these points and they confirmed (promptly) that what I had written was correct.

Poor customer support

The product is good . However the support is dreadful.
Once you have purchased the item your account can be lost and your email address not recognised despite having a valid account. This means you cannot download the maps/ charts you have purchased.
Email response takes ages , I mean weeks . I am still waiting . With this type of item the support is so important but memory map seems to ignore you, once the item has been purchased.

I thought
it right to bring to notice my recent findings with Memory-map.
I purchased an OS 1.50.000 Landranger scale GB Central DVD from them in 2013 and installed it onto my pc and copied it to my cel phone. Now, just eight years later, I am unable to transfer it to a new phone, because, as I am told by Memory-map, that edition is no longer supported. This is something I purchased! and expected to use it for more than eight years!
I might have been able to grudgingly accept having to purchase and download an updated version of the map, but finding it is an exact copy of the DVD I purchased from them in 2013 rather leaves a bad taste in the mouth. Unless someone from Memory-map can prove to me the content of the map is different, I shall no longer support them.

Delayed for weeks, then demanded ID documents - Ridiculous.

Order was left pending for almost 3 weeks with no updates. Customer service agent demanded utility bill and other personal details as proof of address, even when payment had already been sent from my verified PayPal account and all details were already correct on the order. Ridiculous amount of delay and grief over a £90 transmitter and no apology from the company about the time wasted. Avoid.
