Checkatrade is a very useful platform BUT
Checkatrade is a very useful platform and I can see the value it provides for both customers and tradespeople. However, I was disappointed by the subscription model.
The annual subscription and no-refund policy create the impression that once the company has your money, there is no flexibility if the service is not right for you. While this may be legally compliant and clearly stated in the terms, it is still frustrating from a customer's perspective.
I found it extremely difficult to fully understand the tradesperson side of the platform within the first 24 hours. A monthly subscription option or even a short trial period would allow tradespeople to properly evaluate whether the service is suitable for their business before committing to a full year.
I understand that subscription policies can affect the quality of the platform and, ultimately, the experience for customers as well. Nevertheless, the no-refund policy is particularly disappointing and, in my opinion, something that Checkatrade should reconsider.
I only wanted to share this feedback because I believe the platform itself has a lot of potential, but the subscription structure could be much fairer for new users.
